“Moose Head my friend,” the Bluebird said, “I don’t get you at all... How can you find excitement here while hanging from a wall?”
“To be in this house all year ‘round must really be a bore.
When I think of all the things I’ve seen that no one’s seen before.”
“I’ve flown through redwood forests and met birds of every kind.
And if you stop and think, Moose Head, I’m sure that you will find
That although families snuggling close might be something to see, I think the rambling, aimless life of a bluebird is for me.”

Suddenly a rustling noise is heard outside the door
Then bursting in, all covered in snow, appears a family of four.
Two little children run around, screaming in delight,
Tracking snow across the rug, leaving trails of white.
“Here comes my family!” Moose Head says. “Bluebird, come fly up here
And see the folks I love to watch so much three times a year.
” She takes a spot upon the mantle so that she can see Just what all the excitement about this family could be. _________________________________________________
“The girl is Rosa, the boy Jose’. They both have just turned five.
And when they run around the house, this place is so alive.”
Their mother will be cooking soon: their dad has chopped the wood
And when the fireplace gets going, the view from here is good.”
“But where are all the laptops?”, said the Bluebird, “Or their phones?”
Who knew you could have fun, stuck in a cabin all alone?” ______________________________________________
“They sit and talk of this and that, sometimes there’s not a peep.
There had better be a point to this, or I will fall asleep!”
“Bluebird my friend, be still and hush.
“There’s not a single thing to do or anyplace to go.
They come here to remind themselves how they love each other so.”
----------------------------
“I’m so jealous! If I weren’t blue, I surely would turn green,
For this is something beautiful that I have never seen.”
“Moose Head my friend”, the Bluebird said, “I really think it’s true
That in this cabin filled with love, you have the better view.”
“Not so fast,” the Moose Head said, “I see your point as well--
Why should I travel when I can hear the thrilling tales you tell?”
Of pyramids and katydids, of Africa and Rome
Between this family and your stories, I’ll never be alone.”
------------------------------------
“I’ve always been a simple moose, with no desire to roam,
And never could I ask to dwell within a better home.
I do not mind that these four walls are all I’ll ever see,
For every person in this room means all the world to me.”
“Moose Head my friend,” the Bluebird says, “I feel I must be true:
The reason I can travel far is because I have you.
I’m always flying here and there, straight into the unknown Since I’ve got you to come home to, I’ll never be alone.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------
In this life, each person has a special point of view...
It may be different from your own, but it’s still worthwhile, too!
The moment that we view things through another person’s eyes, This world we think we know so well will grow ten times in size.
