Tires screeching, metal crunching, glass breaking, people screaming, bodies flying. Asphalt caressed my skin like a long forgotten love, my mind drifted to happier days; we were careless living a life without limits, no seat belts and hearty laughter. No one saw the car ahead lose control or the truck speeding along, the fear that had bubbled inside was fading away as I drifted into a soft light. I didn’t process the horror that I had really seen until a soft voice told me to hold on because there was more I needed to do. I hadn’t even noticed the bodies of my friends until they lifted me away on a hard bed. As I was taken away the voice captured my mind again and told me to keep fighting because there were people who needed me and one in particular; a young child that had lost everything. I dont remember much of what happened after I got to the hospital, nor do I remember how many days had passed since the accident.
