AN EMMOTIONAL MORNING RUN
This morning I looked out of my kitchen window and saw the sun shining down on the world full strength. It was like an invitation to adventure. I decided that it would be a perfect day for a long walk along the running path next to the creek. I donned my jogging suit, my cap and my walking shoes and off I went.
On this particular morning, the path next to the creek was relatively lonely. The ducks in the creek were the only ones complaining. The heavier traffic usually started closer to mid day. I passed a gaggle of geese, where the male was seriously on guard, while the harem was busy eating. I smiled as I passed them quickly, not wanting to antagonize him. I felt like telling him, don’t worry I don’t want your girls.
Farther down the path, a boy, who was rather heavy, was exercising at the next station. It was rather funny because he could barely pick himself up on the bar. Of course, I did not let him see me smirking.
As I was coming to the last station, two young boys were fighting, a short distance from the path. It looked like a serious fight. One of the boys seemed to be getting the best of the other. In fact there was something like a pleading sound, coming from the receiver of the blows. I almost felt like calling out to them to stop. But then I thought it might make it worse for the boy being punished. My decision then, was to better stay out of it and get on with my business. I figured and hoped that they would somehow settle their scores without any trouble for the young boy. So I continued on, finished my trek and went home.
