Chapter Two

CREATIVE VISUALISATION

“Imagine a huge waterfall of light. Imagine the light to be fluorescent white. Take your time. Take a few deep breaths. Watch the light as it cascades down, softly, steadily. This light has a soothing tonality to it. Relax & watch yourself gently move towards the waterfall. Feel the light; allow the soothing, calming whiteness to envelop you slowly. Keep soaking in the texture of this light. Feel its relaxing presence.”

Creative visualization, as the term suggests, is the technique of Creating what you want, through your imagination. Most of us unconsciously use it all the time. Doing it consciously is actually tapping into the creative power of the universe. In this process, your 'create'- creatively transform a certain aspect of reality. Visualizing repeatedly does this, until the results are palpably there & manifest at the physical level.  According to the ancient laws, it may be used only for the good of self or others. Choosing a specific time of the day & doing it daily for 21 days in a row is a good idea. Repeating a thought or an affirmation 21 days in a row embeds it deeply in the consciousness.

Creative visualization is an oft used technique. The point is to imagine in a relaxed state. And as you keep moving deeper into visualization, keep making it more & more 'real' with sights, senses and sounds.

In the beginning, you could use simple visualizations such as seeing yourself at your favorite travel destination, with a mug of coffee or a cherished book or some similar scenario. This is only to initiate you into the process if you have never used the technique before now.

Ensure that you are either sitting or lying in a comfortable position. Turn your cell off or on silent mode. You would need sustained length of time for the exercise.

To begin the healing exercise, close your eyes, relax & bring up an image of yourself feeling cozy and warm. Now proceed with the visualization given below:

Imagine a huge waterfall of light. Feel its relaxing presence. Take a deep breath. Make the visualization more ‘real’ by letting soft sounds or calm feelings suffuse you as you step into the light. Take your time and be gentle. Continue to breathe deeply. Step in fully under the cascading fluorescent white, soft light & allow yourself to be bathed in it. Let the light flood over you. Allow it to cleanse you. Feel it clearing away all old clogged up pores, wounds, pains, excess negativity & most especially the burden.

Let all your pent up anger and sadness be cleansed. Take your time.

Just be there under the fall of white light for as long as it feels right. Relax and continue to breathe deeply. Inhale the soothing light. Watch it fill up your being. Let the healing light go into every cell of your body, into every tissue, deep into the bone marrow and feel its rejuvenating power. You may affirm; “the white light is permeating my being. This light is healing me deeply.” Gently, repeat the affirmation a few times. Let your muscles relax as you continue to do this. The words may differ from exact text here, it’s ok. Use what you feel comfortable with.

Ultimately, very smoothly, step out beside the waterfall. If you want, you may look back at the light still flowing. Watch the flow moving away from you, carrying away the debris.

Be there by the waterfall some more.

…Deep breathe.

Silently, thank the waterfall. Then turn your back & walk back as a relaxed & loving self. Open your eyes when ready.

A variation to this is that you go backwards in time. This version takes longer, but is more effective. Imagine yourself at age 05/06/07/08/09. Wind back time & see yourself as the child you were. Now, allow this child-self to step in under the waterfall & experience the childlike awe of being there. Once again, simply allow the soothing cleansing fluorescent white light to clear away all undesirable loads known & unknown. Repeat the whole process as given in the above visualization. Now see the child-self step away from the waterfall.

In the next step, recall yourself at an older age, say 10/11/12/13; whatever comes consecutive to the last one. Repeat the above visualization; step in under the waterfall at a certain age; get cleansed and step out. Keep visualizing the child-self stepping out from under the fall successively, out &clear then move to the next age.

There are times when people prefer to time this across one year in the past. That is, they step in once for one year & then move on to the next year. For this, you could go back to a year of deep pain. Use the visualization technique. Step out of the waterfall & then go back under it at an interval from when you first went in.

Some people want to do this for several times in a particular year---say intervals of four months each. It is up to you how much you want to bunch together—months or years, for each step-in under the waterfall. Or for every month of a certain year, or two year intervals—whatever feels comfortable to you.

Continue the process of stepping in as a child and repeat it until you reach to your present age. When you are at there, look at yourself & see how much clearing has taken place. Assess how much better you feel.

Now you are at the final clearing stage. Before you go in, imagine sitting down on a rock by the waterfall. Take three deep breaths, or more. Simply, ask for help from the waterfall. Ask that in this shower, all and any remnants of guilt, pain, sorrow & sadness be cleared from your system completely, & you emerge squeaky clean, new-born or reborn. Affirm that the waterfall now moves on "Turbo-on" mode & the descent of fluorescent light has become denser & thicker & brighter. Step in under the waterfall. Allow the clearing. In other words, be willing and grateful for the cleansing.

(This is best done before sleeping, or in a clear slot of time on a weekend.)

The final shower may take longer, but is a deeper and a more thorough cleansing exercise.

Additionally, in the same shower, you may imagine that the light is permeating right through your skin, into your bones, down to your marrow and completely clearing you of all hatred and anger. And anything that remains is being ‘loosened’, to be sloughed off when you take the next shower.

After you have been doing this repeatedly, say for about six or seven times, you could do the ‘to the marrow’ stage in the first visualization itself. In this, imagine that the healing light is permeating right to the marrow in your bones and healing you to the deepest levels. The key to success here is repetition.

In a variation to the above, people prefer to use the imagination of the light being reasonably warm, to soothe the nerves and experience a relaxing effect.

As an additional, if you think this suits you better, you could use a different color of the waterfall, say pink, for example, or mauve, or green. Whichever color you choose, please follow the Golden Rule of this technique---only the lightest possible shades of the color may be used. If, for instance, you are using green, use only the lightest shade of green like that of a newly sprung sprout-tip, or blade of grass-tip. For pink, follow the palest petal pink. The colors need to be light enough to be almost ethereal, for the therapeutic effect that this exercise is designed for. Flouting the color shade rule may not be a very good idea. And please do not use the thermostat here. This is best done without any sort of temperature ‘control’.

The color waterfalls are helpful also as de-stress showers after work. Green for office and or health stress and pink for relationship stress.
