In the year 2019, Britain eventually left the European Union after two years of tedious negotiations. The talks ended with many of the other European countries within the union banning travel to and from Britain. The channel tunnel was sealed off on both ends to prevent any Immies (a term used to describe any immigrant) from entering Britain.
New legislations were introduced to mark the arrival of a new age, two of the most noteworthy legislations are the Immigration Act 2019 and the Robotics Act 2019. As thousands of immigrants were forced to leave the country in a mass exodus, more jobs became available for the British; factory work, manual labour, waitressing and shop assistants to name a few. The government had tried various schemes to increase the appeal of such jobs, but nothing worked and the British public felt insulted to do jobs in that line of work; the work of an Immie. Towards the end of such an historic year it was clear to see that the United Kingdom was struggling; importing goods from EU countries became too expensive. This led the UK to turn it’s wide eyes to America who were more than happy to increase trade between the two countries. Unemployment had increased to the point where companies were beyond panicking and the last remaining factories started closing down due to a lack of productivity.
It was only when an entrepreneur by the name of William Cloud stepped in after seeing this as a fantastic business opportunity and brought out various factories in the south of England, a new Empire was built. William Cloud used the space to engineer robots that could fulfill the jobs that were still empty. His company, RMR (Robots Making Robots) became a huge success with various companies and saved businesses a lot of money over a very short period of time. William Cloud quickly became a household name and it was impossible to not notice the impact he had on the country in such a tough time.
Twenty years after the events that occurred after Brexit, the United Kingdom now stands stronger than ever. The economy is in the best situation since 2007, with the deficit reduced by just under fifty percent. RMR has begun to cross borders and sales within the USA accumulate thirty-five percent of overall sales.
