Chapter 12 - Mirror

Corbin looked down at his watch.

The hour hand lingered between 10 and 11 as the minute hand as near the 6. Wow I was there for a while, but let me double check. He left the bathroom and entered his bedroom. The alarm clock next to his bed had in solid green numbers “8:30”. What is up with this watch? I need to get another one.

He looked over at his desk and picked up the page with the secret codes. He looked over the numbers again.

7 – 0 – 4 – 2 - 0 – 1 - 8

I knew I saw something with seven numbers.

He took the note with him into the bathroom and went over to the safe. He flicked the number dial with his finger and with some tension, probably due to not being used in a while, was able to move the dials so that the numbers were the same as on the page. Okay. Let’s see if this works.

He pulled down on the old metal handle. Nothing. It wouldn’t budge. He tried as hard as he could, but the way the handle was placed within the side of the mirror made it hard to get a good grip. Well it was worth a try.

Corbin looked at the page again to make sure he didn’t miss something. It all checked out. What if the sequence is a number off. Let’s try it with seven as the last number and zero as the first number. I could have been looking at the wrong starting point in the room, but how could Harrison’s secret code be connected to my mirror, anyways? I’m just grasping at straws now.

He plugged in the new sequence of numbers and pulled down on the handle.

Nothing.
Maybe it’s with the four as the first number.

He tried it again with the new sequence and the handle clicked and gave a little. Corbin with excitement pulled down harder. A loud click resonated in the bathroom and Corbin pulled on the handle.

The safe opened and revealed a tiny storage space. Large enough to store a few DVDs. On the middle shelf, there was a weathered photograph and on the bottom shelf was a sheet of old paper with faded writing on it.

Corbin placed the photograph and the paper onto his desk in his bedroom and returned to the bathroom to study the empty safe. How did that work? Harrison’s code worked on this mirror. Could this mirror be Harrison’s? Is this Oculus?
