Cyanobacteria

The weight of humanity lies heavy across my shoulders.

It is a burden that some days I cannot bear.

Our numbers multiply,

and always we want more.

Long ago cyanobacteria filled our world with oxygen,

and life on earth was almost wiped out.

Today we are the cyanobacteria,

and I fear a new extinction event is already upon us.

What can I, only one in a vast ocean of clever primates do?

Despair?

Fight?

Nothing.
