Chapter 1

“Emery’s!! Don’t....” I heard myself softly saying as I opened my eyes to complete

darkness.

where am I?

How could he do that! He was supposed to be the best of us...

Mab must have gotten to him somehow.

It was dawn just a minute ago.

We were on avalonis. We were guarding the door against him. Him! Our leader.

The first. My own.

we were losing badly.

we might have lost. He must have opened the last door. The sky would be dark if

that was the case. It was the first of the signs.

I should still have my bending. If I can get to percival and lucius, then together we

might still be able to close the door. Fire will help me see though the darkness and air

would help be sense and avoid any obstacles I can’t see.

If I use fire, then not only will I be able to see, everyone else will be able to see me

through the darkness as well.

If I use air, then the wraiths will be able to sense where the air is coming from and

charge this way.

I could even scream my lungs out if need be. Though that’s a last resort.

I could use both to defend myself from them as well, and maybe percival and lu-

cius will see me and come to my aid.

I can’t keep standing here and not move. I hate fear controlling me. I have to act

fast if there is to be any hope of stopping this.

Use large burst of fire on my left hand to get a glimpse of whats around me and

get a glimpse of whats around me.

1

I started to move my left hand forward to bring it above my head to create a bea-

con of fire.

I hands seemed to graze rough jagged rocks.

My entire body seemed to be surrounded to by a cocoon of rough rocks as I tried

to move around.

Someone grabbed both my hands backwards. They felt rough. The rocks were

grabbling my hand.

Where was I?

I closed my eyes, focused my energy on collecting my anger, my frustration and

my love of that stupid man and surged that energy from my center to my left palm.

A small but bright light sparked to life and confirmed where I was. Surrounded by

a cocoon of rock rough and jagged..with rock hands..is that even a thing, holding my

hands.

The rock cocoon began to shake and a rock budge stared to extrude right in front

of my face.

It moved, and transformed itself into a...face.

No eyes, but depth and form of what could have been human eyebrows if it had

hair. the form of a nose...and slowly forming, a big hollow mouth.

“NO!” It vibrated in a grinding sound.

Two more rock hands erupted from behind me and grabbed my belly and pulled.

I jerked forward almost hitting my head on the rock face.

The light in my left palm immediately extinguished.

I’m trapped in a cocoon of stone. A creature that can think and speak!

“I’m going die in here if I don’t get out of here soon”

2

I might not be on avolonis any more. If I’m really here and this isn’t a terrible night-

mare. Feels painful enough to not be that.

What is this thing that I seem to be in. I haven’t heard any stories or met anything

of this monstrosity that would trap people inside it and let them die.

It can probably see or more likely sense in some way what I’m doing. That was a

pretty fast reaction of something I just did to just see my surroundings.

I need to do something explosive and shatter my surroundings.

I have no idea how dense and think the cocoon is. I might not even be in a co-

coon. It might be inside something as big as a mountain.

Perfect! I’m more terrified now! Good job Emily!

Regardless If I don’t do anything, I will be stuck here and the situation me devolve

even further. I need to take risks and see what I options that provides. Couldn’t be

worse than what I’m currently in.

I could use a bigger burst of fire and heat this belly, if its even that, and hopefully I

will be spit out and escape that way.

I could use my scream and shatter every thing within a mile around me to fine

powder.

If is use create a bigger burst of fire in this tight of a space, I might succeed in this

creature spitting me out, but It’ll find a burned and charred remains of someone who

used to be gorgeous, talented and strong.

Ha! I give myself too much credit sometimes.

I could scream. Most of my air was exerted out when the rock hands grabbed my

belly. I don’t know if I’ll have enough air to reach the octave level. If thats the case, the

could shatter enough rocks to be buried in them.

I have one shot. The scream has the best viability of succeeding and getting me

out of here.

3

I stated to deeply breath in.

cough. cough

I coughed out some dirt.

try again. slowly.

yes.

I can feel the air going into me.

A bit more.

The hands holding my belly started to pull me back and exert my air out.

Now!

I screamed. Loudly. I reached Besta level.

The rocks started vibrating.

Gonna level

The rocks were breaking into chucks.

...Almost...

The chunks were breaking down into pebbles.

My belly got pulled, and I hit my head to the rock chunks in front of me.

Crunch, Crackle, and Boom.

Everything around me turned to fine powder dust.

I was in a fog of dirt, as the particles started falling down to reveal an incredible

blue sky, with a white seagull flying by.

Wow!

I looked below and saw water. as far as my eye could see

I was standing on the only land or more accurately a really tall pillar as it would

seem.

I fish swam out of the sea below me and dived back in.

4

There was a sudden splash in the water and the area around the pillar turned scar-

let red.
