CHAPTER-6: WHAT IS WIND ENERGY?

Energy obtained from the wind force is called wind energy. It transforms the kinetic energy of air flow into electrical energy by using wind turbines. The energy is mainly extracted with the rotor which transforms the kinetic energy into mechanical energy and it transforms this mechanical energy into electrical energy with the generator. Wind energy is a renewable energy which is environment friendly. Economically generating wind power is the total amount of economically extractable power available from the wind. It is significantly higher than power generated from all other sources.
