Chapter Three

Pulling up at the high profiled and much sought-after high-rise apartment complex, Gabriel looked up at the building where the most affluent call home, and where many others in the category of the rich came to socialize and play.

Gabriel escorted his wife out of their vehicle and handed the keys over to the valet, walking up to the entrance as the automatic doors slid open for the new arrivals.

At the entrance, they were greeted by a Manager who directed them to the elevator that would take them to the penthouse suite.

As they stood at the elevator doors waiting for it to descend to the ground floor, Gabriel looked across at his wife. And he couldn’t help but feel pride standing there, watching as every man cast glances at his beautiful Victoria standing beside him, wishing they were him, he surmised.

As he looked over appreciatively at his wife, he must say that when he got together with Victoria that day, he was a very lucky man indeed.

They had met in college in their freshman year and he had become smitten with her and she with him.

To say she was beautiful was an understatement. Even now, he still wondered why, out of all the better-looking guys at the school, she fell for him. He didn’t think his sludge-looking moss green eyes were appealing, or his dark brown hair was anything but ordinary, with thin lips and olive skin tone, he didn’t think anything about him held much appeal, like most of the guys that he had attended college with.

As he continued with his appraisal, his gaze fell to her thick auburn hair that he had always taken pleasure in wrapping his fingers in. His eyes moved up to her striking blue orbs that had the power to pull him in like a magnet, sucking him down into the depths of them.

He gazed at her gorgeous plump lips that he adored so much that brought so much pleasure to him so easily. And her generous breast that stood atop her mind-blowing small waist and curvy derriere, going down to her shapely calf and small feet.

As his gaze traveled over her continuously, the insecurities that he held about their relationship crept upon him and he acknowledged that he had always had them from the very beginning of their relationship. Ones that he had worked hard to keep hidden.

The thought had even crossed his mind that he may one day lose her to someone else. Though she had never given him any reason to doubt her. Trying to ignore the voice that immediately popped into his head with the very distinct words of, ’until recently’. But he shook off the intruding thought immediately.

Hearing the ping of the elevator, and the doors opening, Gabriel was pulled back from his thoughts, and he entered behind his wife. Pressing the button that would take them up to the top floor to the soiree at the penthouse suite.

As soon as the doors opened, they were met with soft background music and the light chatter of the guests already in attendance.

Stepping out onto the floor, Gabriel placed his hand at the small of his wife’s back, guiding Victoria across to the bar, that only had a few persons occupying some of the stools there, which made it easier to find a seat.

Once there and seated, they ordered two Martinis. Gabriel made sure that Victoria was satisfied before he took a sip of his own drink.

Gabriel scanned the room, seeing some familiar faces in the crowd. Some he knew personally, but some he only knew because of their status as celebrities.

"Oh, there is Mr. and Mrs. Nedermyer. Let’s go say hello," Gabriel observed the couple across the room, putting his drink down onto the counter as he directed Victoria’s gaze over to his boss and his wife, who were only a few feet away talking to Greyson Alexander. Mr Alexander was a well-known movie star that had a new block-buster number one movie came out not so long ago. Making him the most sought after leading man in Hollywood. Gabriel was in awe at some of the people that he saw.

"Oh, my gawd! Is that Greyson Alexander?!" Victoria practically screeched in her husband’s ear. It wasn’t loud, only a high-pitched whisper coming out, but all the excitement she was feeling was present in her tone, Gabriel thought.

Holding out his hand, Gabriel assisted his wife down from the stool, helping her to lift the hem of her dress, so she wouldn’t trip over it in her haste.

"Let’s go say hello to my boss and his wife first, then maybe afterward we can mingle a little and see if we can get some autographs. How does that sound?" Gabriel smiled down at Victoria as she nodded without looking at him because at that moment her eyes were still glued onto the movie star, who had walked off in the direction of the second bar.
