The opening lines set you squarely in the world.
The characters and setting are brought to life with clever, well-paced writing.
Lively, realistic dialogue serves to not only entertain through suspense and
humor, but also lays out exposition and moves the plot forward. The transition
from the Prologue to the first chapter puts a unique twist on the reader’s expectation
of who the actual protagonist is here. All-in-all, I love what I’ve read so far
and would recommend Child of Secrets
to anyone who loves well-written fantasy with rich world building and characters
that pop off the page.
