A Review of Beneath White Clouds

Even from the start, the very start, you can see the idea. Maybe not specifically, but you know it's there. Eric Landreneau (copied and pasted because there's no way I was gonna get that right) has an idea of what this sci-fi world is, and it's so tight and clean that the writing shines.

The visual aspect of everything is described with certainty and flair. The words embed a look that, while it might be different for everyone just like books tend to be, is completely stable and stays with you every step of the way. The personalities and what the POV character George thinks of the world around him is very fun to take in. Then there's a consistently-entertaining sense of humor that comes from an author who clearly gets timing and surprise.

A world as solid as an AI-maintained forcefield and Eric Landreneau's (pasted again) well-realized science-fiction ideas make this 100% up my alley, and I encourage others to read through this wonderful preview.
