Geri A Sauls liked an update for Henderson House

    Dear Henderson House supporters,

As of this week, the Inkshares Team is reading my revised manuscript! I know it’s been a long wait since I resubmitted it at the end of January - trust me, I KNOW- but the good news is Henderson House is back in the active production cycle.

After this read-through, I will either receive another editorial letter and will need to make more developmental edits or the book will be ready to move to copy editing.

Once the book moves to copy editing, I might get a launch date!! Since we are already into May, my guess is the book will not launch until some point in early 2023.

In other news, I met with fellow Inkshares’ Author Jacqui Castle today in Asheville, NC. I reached out to her since I’m in the area doing research in Cherokee, NC for Sequoyah Road the sequel to Henderson House.

Jacqui was incredibly generous with her time and wisdom today. She has published two sci-fi novels with Inkshares, The Seclusion, and The Chasm. She was named the 2020 Indie Author of the year by the Indie Author Project. I really enjoyed the two-book series. Her books are available wherever you buy your books and someday, Henderson House will be too :)

Thanks again for all your support. We’re getting closer to holding the book in our hands.

    With gratitude,

    Caren Simpson McVicker

      Dear Henderson House readers,

Wow! A year ago today, Henderson House, won the Inkshares All-Genre Contest!

Thanks again to everyone who engaged with my project and helped me earn a publishing contract. What a difference a year makes:) The novel is so much better today than it was a year ago.

I’ve learned so much this past year about the writing process, the editing process, the publishing process, and my own personal process. I hope to have an update from the Inkshares team for you very soon.

Over the past few months, I have seen successful book launches for other authors I follow on Inkshares. I have walked into the Northshire Bookstore, my local independent bookstore in Vermont, and pulled these Inkshares titles on the shelf. I have seen Inkshares run promotions for these books on Goodreads. I have looked these books up on Amazon and Barnes and Nobel. This is real. This will happen.

Thank you again for your continued patience and support. In the meantime, I AM WRITING :)

With gratitude and prayers for peace in our world,

      Caren

        REVISED MANUSCRIPT SENT TO INKSHARES!!

        Dear Henderson House Supporters,

I hope your 2022 is off to a great start! Yesterday, I submitted the revised manuscript for Henderson House to the Inkshares Editorial Team. I read the novel from start to finish on Sunday and I’m very excited about the depth and clarity the developmental edits add to the story. Heartfelt thanks go out to a few trusted readers for helping me get this draft across the finish line!

The revised first four chapters are up on Inkshares, so if you’d like to read them, I’d love to hear what you think. Most of the meat of the editing came later in the novel, but there are some subtle differences in the first four chapters you might pick up on :)

What’s next? The Inkshares Team will re-read Henderson House and decide if the manuscript is ready to move to the next step (copy editing) OR they will send me a second editorial letter and request additional developmental edits and we will go through this process again.

When will you know? Well, that depends on when the Inkshares Team starts reading. Once the team begins reading, it will be at least a month before I hear anything. I will keep you posted.

What are you going to do now? I am going to drink less coffee and get back to working on the sequel Sequoya Road! I’m looking forward to having more time in the day to read other people’s books—just started reading the draft of a friend’s new novel this morning! So fun!

Also, I’m going to get serious about developing my own marketing plan. I will get great support through Inkshares, but I know most of the heavy lifting will be up to me.

Many thanks for your continued support. We’re gonna hold this book in our hands soon, well, soon in publishing terms :)

        With gratitude,

        Caren

              Happy September!

I have a quick update from the home team at Inkshares. Henderson House is next in line. They are currently working on editorial letters for Stephen Harrison’s novel, Infodemic - Stephen is a fellow contest winner.

Infodemic is about an unlikely group of volunteers who must race to defend the world’s most popular online encyclopedia against malicious disinformation during a global pandemic.

The Inkshares team will move from a present-day online battle for the truth, to 1940’s Bartlesville and a private struggle between two sisters to find it as well. Oh, those sneaky universal themes :)

I will keep you posted, but next on deck is a great spot to be.

              Cheers,

              Caren
