Fernando Crôtte liked an update for Human Resources

February is almost over — I’m not quite sure how that happened. Human Resources is with the team at Inkshares, waiting for a developmental editor to tear it apart. I await the first structural edit notes with equal amounts excitement and trepidation. Having someone dissect my work will likely be challenging at times, but it will ensure the final product is the best it can be, and I’m confident I’ll learn a great deal from the experience. I don’t have a detailed production schedule yet, but the tentative release date remains Jan/Feb 2018. As soon as the schedule firms up I’ll let everyone know.

ISBNs, Goodreads and Stores
While waiting for my developmental edits, other activities have been progressing. The novel now has a registered ISBN (978-1942645788) and can be found on major sites such as Goodreads, Amazon, and Book Depository. I also now have recognised author profiles on both Goodreads and Amazon, which is an exciting development.

If you use Goodreads, it would be great if you hopped onto the book page here and added it to your "to-read" shelf. Doing so helps make the book more discoverable on the platform, adding it to feeds, improving search results, and highlighting interest in the book. If you feel inclined, you can also follow me as an author on Goodreads, or Amazon here.

The Jian
I’ve added a new bonus feature to my website — there’s now a new page looking at the Chinese Jian. This traditional short sword is the preferred weapon of my protagonist in Human Resources, and it’s a fitting weapon.

Event Update
AICon is Tasmania’s premier popular culture convention, celebrating TV, movies, anime, comics, and books. This year it will be held during the first weekend in March (4-5 March) at the Wrest Point Convention Centre. If you come along, you’ll find me in the Fan Trader area — I’ll have a table with some give-aways, and will be chatting to anyone who’s interested about my novel. If you’re in Hobart, come along and say hello!

Fernando Crôtte liked an update for An Unattractive Vampire

    Hey there Adventureketeers!

A quick update before I delve back into the depths of grad schooliness to let you know that An Unattractive Vampire is Audible’s Daily Deal. For the rest of today (Tuesday February 21st) (2017) The Unattractive Audiobook is only $3.95. Why that’s less than $4.95! (I think...I’m in school for writing, not math.) That’s an entire book--hours of entertainment--for less money than three songs on iTunes. Just the thing for road trips down desolate, lonely roads whose secrets are buried deep from all but the unluckiest outsiders. Nothing says "ignore the feeling that the woods/desert/endless void is watching you with a vampire comedy read by a soothing British voice.

Fernando Crôtte liked an update for Sync City

      Greetings Jackolytes,

The exciting word on the street is that Sync City is now being shipped, and Jack is soon to be out in the wild! If you have pre-ordered a paperback, then you should receive an email from Inkshares telling you the details. From what I can work out, they’re doing it alphabetically according to the name you used when registering with Inkshares. So if you are later in the alphabet, you may not have received the email yet.

If you want a little more information about me and the book, Sync City’s homepage is here. You can also follow my author’s Facebook page here.

If you haven’t jumped on to the Sync City express, then you can do so at Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Book Depository. and don’t forget to share!

      Cheers,

      Peter

Fernando Crôtte liked an update for The One: A Cruise Through the Solar System

        Hi everyone,

Sorry for the long delay between updates.

Draft 1 is finished and has been sent out to select alpha readers. "What is an alpha reader?" you may ask. They are people who have agreed to read the novel very early in the process to help clean it up prior to sending it off for professional editing. This enables me to have someone else look it over and see all the things that I (and MS Word) missed in terms of me knowing what I meant, or details that I missed, or even the ever elusive missing comma.

Initial responses have been encouraging towards tone and ld building, but all have mentioned the constructive criticism that I need to make it a better novel.

Meanwhile, I was recruited to write a chapter in a technical book. Ok, so less recruited then I asked a question "but what about a chapter on ..." and got back the response "can you have it written in 3 weeks?"

So I am pleased to announce that  this has been published:

Chapter 9 "Telecom security 101: What You need to know" is mine.

Best of all you  can download  it here for free (requires signup): Peerlyst eBook 2 - Essentials of Cybersecurity

In other news, I have updated my website with details about my non-fiction book chapters and links to my various social media accounts. I will be adding a template and artwork soon.

So thank you all again for sticking with me, and I will let you know when the editing process is over and I have an idea when, where, and how my novel will be published. Until then I will be working on the next writing project.

        Best regards

        Eric

Fernando Crôtte liked an update for Twisted Tales for Tacky Children

          Hello Fellow Tacky Ones!

I’m writing to give you a quick update on the status of your pre-orders.  The editorial team at inkshares tells me they are working on some new formatting guidlines for project submission. I should receive these guidelines in the next month or two. After that, I’ll be able to send in the manuscript!

In the meantime, I’m working on getting the book cleaned up as much as possible on my end.  I had the day off from work today, and here is a sneak peek of what I’ve been up to:

I know what you’re thinking-- THAT LOOKS SO  GLAMOROUS.  You are right.  I bet the professionals at Random House ALSO do storyboard layouts on their kitchen floors.

Cricket has been worthless as an editorial assistant.

I’ve also been agonizing about which poems to include in the final manuscript, and today I’ve been able to make some tough cuts.  I’ve saved the fun part for this afternoon-- touching up illustrations that I’m not quite happy with, and adding a few new ones.

I hope this gives you a clearer idea of where your books are in production, and some insight into the process! If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to me at katiehayes927@gmail.com, and remember that many of the poems can be viewed at my website, if you are eager to start reading it to your young people!

          Cheers,

          Katie
