Hey all! I created this thread with the idea to promote my novel, Elysium, which I submitted to the G&S fantasy contest. However, I would love to meet some responsive people who would be willing to swap reviews and feedback with me.

If I back this project, what am I getting?
You’re getting your first taste of a big, scary new world. You’re getting the first part of a storyline that will ramp up, building upon itself upwards and outwards, spanning decades of time. You’re getting insider access to my thought process as I craft my world. You get the opportunity to help shape that world through feedback as my novel is in its earliest stages. And you get a shiny new book at the end of it all!
What is Elysium?
Elysium is my first novel and the initiation to my world! It’s the introduction to a series of seven books, called the Endwar Arc. The Endwar Arc will be supported in turn by several world-building novels and short stories set in the same universe.
What is the book about?
Elysium follows the exploits of a magical prodigy named Eli, a poor boy who earned a scholarship to the rune mage’s famous Academy. He graduated with endless opportunities ahead of him—after all, Eli had an unusual knack for healing, widely considered the single most difficult magical discipline. He was poised to lead the Academy’s magical research division.
When war broke out, however, his only friend was conscripted into the army and a higher duty called. Eli enlisted as a combat medic, refusing to take lives and determined to keep his friend breathing. Soon enough word would reach him of his mother back home, lying on her deathbed far out of his reach.
His desire to save his friend and his mother pushes Eli to the edge. When he hears of an ancient Sky Elf ritual that can give incredible power to those who pass its trials, he abandons everything else and seeks it out. However, he soon finds he cannot complete the ritual alone. As he seeks out others to help overcome the trials, the question remains in his mind… once they have such unspeakable power:
What will they do with it?
Where does Elysium take place?
Elysium is set on the continent of Aei’lanyr, home to the towering Sky Elves, the race of men, jaw-unhinging spiders, fire-breathing hawks, golem-building cultists and more.
On Aei’lanyr, everyone carries Weave inside themselves—that is, magical potential and ability. Weave can be expressed in four different ways, but two of them have been all but wiped out. Of the two remaining Styles, Naturals can freely express and use magic, but it is always expressed as fire, water, earth and lightning. Rune mages or Inkers, on the other hand, can use magic of any kind but require expensive, rare magical ink to do so. Since everyone has Weave, this means that anyone can learn to cast magic—if they can afford it.

If you would like more details, or if you have questions, feel free to email me or to message me directly through Inkshares. Please consider following, pre-ordering or reviewing Elysium. Even those who do not pre-order, I would be glad to exchange feedback and help build a stronger community!
