I really enjoyed what is available of Elysium. I hope it does well and I’ve left some feedback on your book’s page. If you have a sec, would love some feedback on my project Dawn of the Raven Goddess. Thank you!

Thank you for the kind words.
I followed you a while back but just realized I hadn’t followed Witherfist. I’m looking forward to the excerpts you upload!

Your passion for your universe definitely shows through in your writing :)

I can’t help it! I’ve been working on the same story in some form or another since I was 10.

I had always planned it to be a trilogy, but four years ago I wrote a standalone novella that, after a couple years of thought and work, I decided to both extend into another trilogy and fold into my main universe. That left me with six novels to work on, and I haven’t exactly done them in order, so writing particular points gave me the inspiration to dedicate side novels to important characters.

Sorry- you probably didn’t want a response this long but I rarely get to talk about my work recently. XD
So thank you for the interest!

And I love working on my universe, but the thought of getting published is incredibly daunting.
I’m at work now, and while I have some time to message like this occasionally, I don’t feel like I get any good reading or reviewing done. I’m adding Glassbreaker to my list to check out tomorrow, though!

Thanks! Also, wow, nine novels is super ambitious. I’m writing a standalone and even that much (and possibly an epistolary novella companion, if I can get anyone to publish it) seems like a lot.

Thank you for the input! Don’t worry about not being able to pre-order... making comments and giving that recommendation was very kind of you. I’ll make sure I take a look at your work and try to repay the favor!

Yes--I’ve actually plotted out nine novels so far! Seven of them are the "core" novels and the others are world building/focus in on specifics characters from the core novels and give them independent arcs.
In the pursuit of honesty, one of the nine is a little shakier on the details, but it’s the one I’ve spent the least time working in.
Besides the nine I’ve plotted out, I have the base concept for another two novels and a collection of short stories, all set within the same universe.
Thank you kindly for the compliment! I’m glad to hear I have a strong foundation... there’s lots of building to do!

Wow, seven books! Have you plotted them out already? You’ve definitely got good foundations for the story, based on what I’ve read so far.

I left some commentary on your first chapter! (On the actual Chapter 1, not the prelude.) I’d love to see what you think of my writing; I’ll be sure to follow and recommend Elysium, though I’m admittedly super broke and can’t preorder.

Hey all! I created this thread with the idea to promote my novel, Elysium, which I submitted to the G&S fantasy contest. However, I would love to meet some responsive people who would be willing to swap reviews and feedback with me.

If I back this project, what am I getting?

You’re getting your first taste of a big, scary new world. You’re getting the first part of a storyline that will ramp up, building upon itself upwards and outwards, spanning decades of time. You’re getting insider access to my thought process as I craft my world. You get the opportunity to help shape that world through feedback as my novel is in its earliest stages. And you get a shiny new book at the end of it all!

What is Elysium?

Elysium is my first novel and the initiation to my world! It’s the introduction to a series of seven books, called the Endwar Arc. The Endwar Arc will be supported in turn by several world-building novels and short stories set in the same universe.

What is the book about?

Elysium follows the exploits of a magical prodigy named Eli, a poor boy who earned a scholarship to the rune mage’s famous Academy. He graduated with endless opportunities ahead of him—after all, Eli had an unusual knack for healing, widely considered the single most difficult magical discipline. He was poised to lead the Academy’s magical research division.

When war broke out, however, his only friend was conscripted into the army and a higher duty called. Eli enlisted as a combat medic, refusing to take lives and determined to keep his friend breathing. Soon enough word would reach him of his mother back home, lying on her deathbed far out of his reach.

His desire to save his friend and his mother pushes Eli to the edge. When he hears of an ancient Sky Elf ritual that can give incredible power to those who pass its trials, he abandons everything else and seeks it out. However, he soon finds he cannot complete the ritual alone. As he seeks out others to help overcome the trials, the question remains in his mind… once they have such unspeakable power:
What will they do with it?

Where does Elysium take place?

Elysium is set on the continent of Aei’lanyr, home to the towering Sky Elves, the race of men, jaw-unhinging spiders, fire-breathing hawks, golem-building cultists and more.

On Aei’lanyr, everyone carries Weave inside themselves—that is, magical potential and ability. Weave can be expressed in four different ways, but two of them have been all but wiped out.  Of the two remaining Styles, Naturals can freely express and use magic, but it is always expressed as fire, water, earth and lightning. Rune mages or Inkers, on the other hand, can use magic of any kind but require expensive, rare magical ink to do so. Since everyone has Weave, this means that anyone can learn to cast magic—if they can afford it.

If you would like more details, or if you have questions, feel free to email me or to message me directly through Inkshares. Please consider following, pre-ordering or reviewing Elysium. Even those who do not pre-order, I would be glad to exchange feedback and help build a stronger community!
