Matthew Isaac Sobin liked an update for Devil’s Call

Hello again, readers!

A few days ago, I wrote to let you all know I did not intend to ask for a campaign extension. Now I’m writing to let you all know someone out there believes in this project so hard, they worked their magic and convinced me to accept one anyway.

My initial intention was to put Devil’s Call in a drawer and move onto my next project. Not query agents or self-publish on Amazon or something, but just let it go. Let me tell you real quick why, on second thought, I’m glad I didn’t.

This year has been trying. As I mentioned in an update at the campaign’s commencement, this spring I experienced a severe, acute depressive episode that culminated in a suicide attempt, and I spent a considerable amount of time in the hospital as a result. I’m currently in outpatient treatment for alcohol dependence (39 days clean!) as well as generalized anxiety that worsened as a result of my not self-medicating anymore. Depression and alcoholism didn’t kill me, but they sure are eating up a lot of time that would have normally been allocated for promoting my ass off.

That said, waiting for the "right" time to pursue this project isn’t an option, as life doesn’t give two licks whether I’m ready or not. Both the manuscript and I are improving day by day, and I want this book to make it to Quill not for my own gratification, but because so many people have helped it get this far, and I really feel as if Devil Call is Inkshares’ book.

I can’t top that last gif, so I’m going to sign off with more heartfelt thanks and my standard "spread the word on Tweetface, it helps" message.

Y’all are the best,
J.

Matthew Isaac Sobin liked an update for Tantalus Depths

Every once in a while, something will happen that reassures me Tantalus Depths is really succeeding where it matters.

Getting picked by the Break the Bechdel Syndicate was one of those, as it reassured me that Tantalus Depths was doing an effective job of representing strong female characters, which was crucial for me. Getting picked by the Great Sci Fi Syndicate was another, as it reassured me that I was effectively creating a science fiction work that embodied the best aspects of this genre I love so much. There have been many little things along the way that provide similar assurances that I’m on the right track, either in the form of reviews, recommendations, or general feedback. Today I was honored in a totally new way.

KSU Trumbull, the university branch responsible for almost all of my college education, did me the great honor of coming to me and holding this interview to promote my book. This is the same college where I honed my writing skills, took advanced literature classes, learned character development from theatre classes...heck, Tantalus Depths was written for classes at this school. The fact that they’d honor me by highlighting my work is a tremendous honor that I’m still processing.
Please go ahead and check out this interview.
Also! Tantalus Depths is now only 87 pre-orders away from FULL PUBLISHING. We have a bit less than 13 days to get there. We are SO close, everyone. Keep pushing!

Matthew Isaac Sobin liked an update for Mission 51

With only 3 days to go in the funding campaign for Mission 51, it seems clear we will not reach the required 250 pre-orders for publication through Inkshares, at least not at this time.

BUT, this is just a bump in the road to publication. It is a one door closes, one door opens kind of thing. Let me fill you in on the plans.

In 3 days, the funding campaign ends, and shy of a miracle where we do reach 250 pre-orders, Mission 51 will automatically go into “draft” mode on Inkshares. All of the readers, who have my everlasting gratitude for your interest and generous support, will get their money back. The project will remain listed on Inkshares, and I will be able to communicate with followers through this forum, to keep you updated on the continuing progress of Mission 51.

I will continue to revise, enhance and beautify the book, including the art. I am convinced that this fun story has merit. I have been encouraged by the support from personal friends and family, by 188 followers of the project on Inkshares, by achieving 168 pre-orders, by 14 high-quality recommendations, by being chosen as a “Staff Pick,” and by the support of the GREAT SCI-FI for the 21st CENTURY and BEYOND SYNDICATE.

With that in mind, I have decided to enter Mission 51 in the 2016 Launch Pad Manuscript Competition. This opens several opportunities for publication. Please check out the link. I am very excited about it!

In any event, I can assure you that this book will be published sooner or later, hopefully sooner. I would love to have the backing and services of a formal publishing house like Inkshares, but I have self-published several books before, and I will self-publish Mission 51 if the need be.

So stay tuned for future developments in the Mission 51 saga! I will keep you informed.

Thank you all so very much for your words of encouragement and your generosity. I have truly felt the love here on Inkshares. It is a great platform, a wonderfully supportive community of readers and authors. I have enjoyed every minute and I am not going away!

      Peace and love always!

      Ferd   :-)

          Apprentices and Masters,

So very excited to say that on Saturday I had my first LIVE TV INTERVIEW! So amazing!

Click HERE to watch! It was such a surreal experience and I was so nervous! But everyone at FOX45 was super friendly! They had received an advance copy and many had already read RUNE! I was blown away by the reception I got! SO FREAKING COOL!

Speaking of freaking cool, another blurb for RUNE just came in, too! Check it out!

"Within just a few moments of beginning to read Rune, I was immediately drawn into the adventurous, magical world that Jamison Stone has created―my heartbeat pulsed, my breath grew shallow, my fingers trembled as I leap from page to page―and this was all in merely the first chapter! Stone has hit it out of the ballpark with this book, and you will not want to put it down. An epic read indeed." ―Ben Greenfield, New York Times bestselling author of Beyond Training

I am so humbled by all the positive feedback I am getting for RUNE and SO EXCITED for everyone to get their copies! (If you want to check out all of the other blurbs click HERE.)

In other news: Geek & Sundry is hosting another contest, and this time it’s Fantasy!

MANY people have asked if I am going to submit RUNE’s sequel into the contest, and my answer is a definitive NO. And here is why: I feel Inkshares contests should be to raise awareness to NEW authors, not ones with a strong following. The reason I was able to publish RUNE, and have the courage to take a leap into crowd funding, is because I knew that the Nerdist contest would be a fair(ish) playing ground, and although I did not win, RUNE is now Inkshares’ #3 top selling book in Fantasy, despite still being in pre-orders!

So, no, I am not entering the contest--Instead, I am going to support NEW authors who come onto the Inkshares platform and hopefully enable someone unknown, like I was, get their chance to shine! To that end, if anyone fits that description and wishes their book to be featured on my blog just tweet me @StoneJamison and we will make it happen!

Truly exciting times for RUNE and Inkshares and I am so happy to be sharing it with you!

p.s. Next week I will be in Seattle’s KeyArena for the DOTA International Convention and Championship! I will be there for the ENTIRE event (8+ days!) Follow me on Twitter @StoneJamison for live updates of all the excitement! It will be EPIC! #GGWP

            Hey Campers,

192 orders!!!! Awesome! I would love to cross that 250 Quill Imprint mark as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, I had a very sudden death in my family this past weekend. I won’t be able to promote the book as much for the time being. I would love for you to help me pick up the slack. Convince a friend or two to buy the book today!

Anyway, thanks for the support. I was worried the book wouldn’t sell a single copy, and now I am already almost at the first publishing goal.

Continue to spread the word and promote! You are all amazing.
