I’d advise asking friends and family to help push for your book. Also reach out to people with a large following, contact blogs, instagram accounts, and though it’s not been used as a good advertising place, if you use iFunny accounts tend to be helpful and there’s one for just about anything.

Good luck and welcome to the community! If you have the time I’d appreciate if you could check out my western The Burned.

Hi guys. I’ve been a fan of the site and it’s concept since I heard about it on the Nerdist podcast a year or so back. Kept popping in every now and again, intending to enter some of my manuscripts in the various contests, but I always got cold feet. Now I’m here as one of the Launch Pad top 75.

I’ve put my excerpt up; created my page and a temporary cover; and set it for pre-orders as part of the competition, but now I only have 90 days to sell my 250 copies, and I feel like I’m totally unprepared. Anyone else from the contest having similar thoughts?

I can make maybe twenty sales from friends and family, but having spent the last few years pouring all my free time into writing, I don’t have much in the way of a social media/online presence.

Do you think I should let this pre-order session run its course and use it as a test run, while concentrating on building a bit of an online name for myself? Or should I try and sell my book at the same time, knowing I probably won’t come close to hitting the goal this time around?

I feel like I might get sales, but not nearly enough, and wouldn’t I then lose their confidence if I didn’t succeed? Also, some people who buy-in the first time around might have lost interest by the time I’m ready for a second attempt.

Anyway, hello again, and cheers for any advice.
