Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for The Animal in Man

“Words to the heat of deeds too cold breath gives.” Just wanted to quickly give a shout-out to my homie Billy Shakespeare. That’s from his latest novel “Macbeth,” now trending on inkshares.

Please tell me you didn’t fall for that. Only a slice of the above is true; that quote is indeed from Macbeth. It is one of my all-time favorites. If I’m reading it right, it means that saying is not the same as doing. So in the spirit of DOING, I wanted to give an ACTUAL shout-out to two dear friends of mine who ARE DOING IT, whose books truly ARE trending on inkshares right now.

The books of Mr. Zachary Tyler Linville and Mr. Richard Heinz were mentioned on Publisher’s Weekly top anticipated books released in Fall 2016. THIS IS HUGE NEWS! I’ve personally had a few peeks into their stories and I can vouch for this praise. I’d say “these books will be great,” but the truth is, I already know they are. If you haven’t invested in a copy of them, what are you waiting for? (Saying “Publisher’s Weekly’s endorsement!” is an answer that doesn’t hold up any more, bub.)

There have been other, newer, projects that caught my eye on Inkshares also. If you can click a mouse button more than once, I’d highly recommend you do so HERE (“Destiny Imperfect”) and then HERE (“The Glorious Denial”), in no particular order. Read the chapters you find there. They’re good. Good enough to spend money on. I say so from experience.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a scene to write in which an owl fires cobalt-colored lightning bolts at a fox while he clambers up the side of a landmass hovering mid-air because of some distortions in his world’s magnetic field. Some weird, complicated, science-or-sorcery stuff in “The Animal in Man”, folks. In Billy’s spirit of DOING, I #AmWriting. Stay tuned.

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for Devil’s Call

    Gentle Reader,

As always, huge thank you to everyone who has preordered this humble project so far. Your support has sustained me thus far, and continues to mean the world to me.

This update is to inform folks on both sides of the fence of an exciting turn in the tale of this story’s journey towards publication: after receiving notes back and discussing the plot and the characters with my beta readers, Devil’s Call is going to double in length and quadruple in scope. (My math may not be accurate; I’m a writer, not an algebra teacher.)

What does this mean for you?

If you’ve already placed your order, it means you’re getting twice the story for the same price. It also means I’ll be borrowing a page from Amanda Orneck’s book (not literally, although you should head on over and get a copy of Deus Hex Machina if you haven’t already) and releasing chapters off-site, so you can start reading the finished novel ahead of publication, which is pretty dope.

If you haven’t ordered your copy yet, this means you’re getting a discount. Sure, if you wait for the eBook to publish on Amazon, you’re technically saving money in the long run, but it’s a hypothetical run, and a short one. Devil’s Call won’t make it to Kindle or Nook or any other platform without enough funding in the next 44 days, which is why it’s super important for you to head on over, preorder your copy, and then tell everyone you know how awesome this book is and why supporting independent authors is super important. Plus, you get a signed copy and bragging rights.

"You know that book everyone’s raving about? I helped get it published. I am a freaking badass."

    You guys are the best,
    J.

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for Transilience

Through an incredible act of generosity by my in-laws, Transilience has surpassed 20% on Unbound.

I’m not setting any crowd-funding records, that’s for certain. But I believe support will increase as the percentage numbers do. I’m excited. And very optimistic.

At 25%,  I am giving away a copy of Level 99 Games’s brilliant deduction card game, Noir. It’s the Black Box edition and I’ll sign it with a gold marker pen, which might devalue the game but it’s a risk we should all be willing to take.

So please, order a copy today.

Inkshares is replete with first-time authors and it times it feels a bit like a Dickens story. We beg and we plead for support. We put our futures in the hands of others and hope for the best. And the recipient of these entreaties must shoulder through these lines of digital beggars to surf the net undisturbed.

In all of this, I wonder if the fact that a good story is the end result. That we loose sight of that fact. That one donation. One preorder. One simple transaction. One simple click of the "Order" button brings to life a story. Validates hundreds of hours of work. Reserves a copy of that effort for you, the buyer.

...charity, mercy, forbearance, and benevolence, were, all, my business.

Again, here’s the link to Transilience’s Unbound campaign.

      https://unbound.co.uk/books/transilience

Appreciate is too small a word to describe my reaction to an order. Nevertheless, it is a word that I will shout from the rooftops and hope to do it justice.

      Cheers,
      Kevin

        Happy Sunday, Space Crew!

I know the weekend’s gone too fast, but thankfully you get to conclude it with hearing from me.

I don’t have a lot of news, but these weekly updates are my way of staying connected to you as we continue our journey through space and time toward the impending September deadline.

I Need to Get the Word Out.
This book has gotten a lot of attention in various circles I know or am a part of, and that is fantastic. I’m indebted for all of your support. But unless all of you want to order 10 copies each, we’ve got to get word of this book outside our current Crew.

If you know of any podcasts, blogs, social platforms, or other networking opportunities that might want to spend some time talking to me or about The Traveller’s Cup, please help connect us. You will be rewarded with a special author’s note inside your copy of the book, and will go down in history as one of our top space recruiters.

Yes, Your Theme Song is Coming
I’ve been throwing ideas around for awhile, and since we only have 22 orders to go before I officially owe it to you, I’m settling down on something I think is pretty cool. Sample coming soon.

Meanwhile you can contribute to my motivation by helping me nab those last 22 orders. Please keep recommending this book and spreading the word to your friends.

        Your Friendly Neighbourhood Space Captain,
        -AC

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for Destiny Imperfect

          Greetings Destiny-followers,

Destiny Imperfect is taking time out from its hectic Thailand best man duties and wishes to thank you all for the support over the last few days. Firstly, we are at 97 readers (101 pre-orders – yay!). It would be absolutely fantastic to crack the 100 readers as soon as possible. So if you’re in the position to do so, a pre-order would be great!

Destiny Imperfect would also like to give an enormous thanks to Evan Graham and his awesome book Tantalus Depths! Evan dug deep and did some heavy duty referring for Destiny. You are the man, Mr. Graham! If you haven’t ordered Tantalus Depths, get on over there and get an order in.

I’d also like to give a shout out to a couple of my competitors in the Inkshares/Nerdist contest. There’s only room for two of us in the top three (first having long since ridden off into the sunset), but if these two kick my butt, then we’re in for a treat. Alisa King’s Are You Sure You Want to Quit is making Destiny’s life tough at the top. And why not? It looks like a gem – check it out and pre-order. And an early favorite of Destiny’s, Matthew Poat’s Squids In, is also worth pre-ordering.

Anyway, thank you all very much! Let’s get out there and try to hit the hundred reader mark! Destiny Imperfect will do its best to lend all the support it can! Right after this next beer …

          Cheers,

          Peter

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for An Unattractive Vampire

So hey, guys. How was your week?

Mine? Oh you know, it was...okay. I did some stuff. And then some other stuff. Oh and then this happened.

            https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1669756768?book_show_action=true&from_review_page=1

For those of you who did not immediately click on the link and then devolve into frantic happy dances (like I did...at work) here’s the context. Patrick Rothfuss...THE Patrick Rothfuss...best-selling author of the Kingkiller Chronicles READ MY BOOK! And...he liked it! EPIC SWOON!

In other great news this week, we hit our first Amazon milestone of 50 reviews!

What does this mean? It means that An Unattractive Vampire has reached the first Amazon algorithm tier. It might be featured in newsletters or start creepily showing up as a suggestion to people who also bought Interview with a Vampire or a My Little Pony. That sort of thing. Basically, more books in more hands.

So time to just rest on our laurels and do nothing, right?

            WRONG!

There is another...larger goal. At 100 reviews, we activate the second Amazon tier where the book gets even more promotion and I assume some form of giant robot Avatar.

So keep reading! Keep reviewing! Keep telling your friends about this great book (or your enemies about this "great book" *snicker, snicker.*)

            Also...thank you.
