Craig A. Munro liked an update for Devil’s Call

Hello, friend!

As you know, Devil’s Call was chosen for Inkshares’ 2016 The List, which is a contest to see which of the site’s top-rated but as-yet unpublished manuscripts will get the full publication treatment.

Devil’s Call has been parked at 9th place since the contest began, which is nothing to sneeze at. In order to win the contest, we need to sell the most unique preorders between now and December 31st.

I personally will be content if we sell another 116 preorders, which will put us at a nice round 250. So my humble request to you:

If you already preordered your copy, I appreciate you. There’s a Recommend button on Devil’s Call’s page that will generate a code for you to share with your friends on Facebook or Twitter, if you haven’t already.

If you’re on the fence about preordering, I’ve uploaded the revised first chapter. This is the chapter that will be going to my editor and coming back with line notes, but it already looks immensely better than it did six months ago. Your preorder will help ensure this novel looks and sounds the best it can when it hits shelves next year.

And, since I have a reputation to uphold, here is an appropriate gif to wrap things up.

Happy Tuesday!

From someone who is mid-campaign: Janna’s advice is invaluable. I’ve already done two things differently from having spoken with her, and have seen positive results :) Yeehaw!

I hope you find this resource useful. If you do, I encourage you to share with your author friends who you think might find it useful too.

    THANK YOU JANNA!

Since kicking off my crowdfunding campaign for Where the Sun Sets I’ve learned that I have no idea what I’m doing. I’ve also learned that I’m not alone. In fact, there are countless other clueless authors who are just like me!

So I’m putting together a video series -a free online resource-  called Coming Clean on Crowdfunding to help us all be a little less clueless, and a little more likely to succeed in making our dreams a reality.

Coming Clean on Crowdfunding is a series of short video interviews (3-5 min. long), where each video showcases a single author who has chosen to crowdfund their literary darling into existence.

For our first interview we’ll be hearing from the lovely Janna Grace, author of The Talkers are Talking.  Tune in to hear Janna tell us about her experience participating in an Inkshares contest, what she did wrong with her campaign, what she did right, and more.

Throughout the series we’ll be hearing from authors at all different stages in their campaign, from everywhere around the world. Should be very cool!

I’ll be posting them on YouTube HERE.

The first episode will be available later this evening/first thing in the morning. I’ll update the thread so you know when to take a peek.

If you like what you see and want to see more episodes from different authors, please subscribe! Post your comments or questions to the channel or to this thread, and please highlight the types of questions you’d like to see answered. If you have an experience you’d like to share in an episode, please reach out to me & we’ll set up a time to chat!

I hope you find these interviews as fun and insightful as I do!

      Donna

It is December and time for syndicates to start looking for books to back! If you aren’t aware of the many syndicates on Inkshares, take some time to look at them -here-

Joining a syndicate is a great way to back a book every month. We can recommend syndicate membership to our Readers as well.

Craig A. Munro liked an update for Kingdom of Dreams

          1. 41 pre-orders needed for publication!
          2. Toys For Tots
          3. NEXT UP: New Chapters, Sponsors

           1.) 41 orders until publication!

So we picked up a bit of progress in November, many thanks to my new followers and backers. But now we’re stuck on 209 orders with the finish line fast approaching. Admittedly, I’ve been a bit down of late and am trying to rally myself to help us get this thing over the finish line before the new year.

I’ve come up with a charity event to encourage more orders and more importantly, help children in need:

          2.) Toys For Tots:

Is there anything better than riding a dragon? No way, but there are countless children that won’t have that opportunity this Christmas. Therefore, all of my orders received by Tuesday, December 20th will be donated to Toys For Tots. For those that didn’t know-like myself-books are also included in what they give to kids, not just toys.

Already pre-ordered? No problem. Order more if you can, even if it’s just one book. As mentioned, on December 20th, I’ll post the donated amount here. And this gift will keep on giving! Per your request, Graham, (my son pictured) will help me donate the extra copies of Kingdom of Dreams to children in need when they become reality. I’m looking into a few child literacy programs that we can work in tandem with as well.

3.) NEXT UP: New Chapters, Sponsors

I was Fantasy Writer of the Day the day before Thanksgiving on Reddit; they treated me well and I met some nice fellow writers and fantasy fans. As stated before, I’ve been working on new, REALLY new chapters to give potential backers a larger sample size. If the fates cooperate, I’ll have two new chapters up simultaneously and will send them out to all of you. Please feel to critique and review. If you’ve been waiting and like what you read, why not order? (Or again, purchase one for a child that wants to read these types of books but doesn’t have the means to get them.)

I’ve talked to a couple of local sponsors to help distribute our book if it becomes a reality. I plan to continue to be more aggressive with these efforts, as the real battle will begin to get this book in as many avenues as possible. But the focus is on hitting 250 pre-orders. We are so close!

          Stay tuned and stay well,

          Kevin

Craig A. Munro liked an update for LandFall

A quick note: I still don’t know what’s going on with LandFall and it’s participation in the list. I’m now pretty confident I know what’s happened, but it’s now been 11 days since I last heard from Inkshares and they have not yet offered any ’official’ details on what’s happened.

I’ll try reaching out again this week with my thoughts and see where that goes.

Keep an eye on that horizon.

Looks nice and functions well. But one thing I’d still rather see (in the discovery areas) is books laid out in rows and columns instead of just rows. The current holiday sale page, for instance, is one long row, and I think it’d be easier to scroll through all the books for sale if they were arranged more as a grid that flows down the page. This is especially the case on smaller screens. I know that’s trickier on the main discovery page, since there’s categories to consider, but just something that’s stood out to me for a while.
