Leo Valiquette liked an update for WILD CONVICTION

Hello Wild Conviction readers and supporters!  Here’s an update:

As you know, Chapters 1 and 2 have been posted on my Inkshares page. You might want to read them again if you haven’t in awhile, as I have made some important terminology changes, which you will also see in GrandMama’s letter.

I have been sending out this “actual” mysterious letter from GrandMama that holds two life-threatening secrets and actual physical gifts, and with a wax seal. The contents of this letter is Chapter 3. If you haven’t yet received your letter, you will soon!

For those of you who want a bit more after receiving the letter, I have posted two more chapters, Chapters 4 and 5.

I still need many more orders, so I am doing what I can to get that support! Thank you again for your support!

If you can continue your support by encouraging your friends to pre-order my novel, I would be most grateful. Tell them that if they don’t have wild conviction, it’s time!

Also, I welcome your comments in the Discussion or in the Reviews.

In hopes of capturing your attention:

Chapter One, An Exchange: A mysterious birthday letter sets Twilight forth into discovery about herself. She meets a young man who offers her an interesting exchange.

Chapter Two, The Canon Effect: Twilight accompanies the young man to see someone she doesn’t want to see.

Chapter Three, GrandMama’s Letter. This chapter IS GrandMama’s letter with the secrets. Look for one drop of blood and for information about the doe and the tree.

Chapter Four, The Plea. Look for a famous literary figure (before he was famous), who really was in Memphis at that time to see his brother who’d been injured in the explosion of the Pennsylania steamer on the Mississippi River, then taken to Memphis.

Chapter Five, Hypocrisy’s Hints: Look for the leap to how Twilight begins to face her hypocrisy.

Thanks again!  Mary

    Hello all!
I hope everyone is well during these bizarre and difficult times. My family and I have been doing our part by sheltering-in-place since March and wearing masks during trips to the grocery store. I didn’t know I would become a home-school teacher all of a sudden, but we’re making it work! I’m optimistic that we can all get through this if we stick with recommended safety measures, and I hope you all stay safe and well!
Despite the general life upheaval, "Curio Citizen" and other aspects of my writing career are going great! I am about to turn in my newest draft of "Curio Citizen," and I will keep the updates coming as the project progresses. I am confident that each round of edits is improving the story, and I’m excited to share it with you all.
I am also thrilled to announce that back in January, my dark fantasy novel "Lodestone" got a traditional publishing deal! In my last update, I mentioned that I was querying publishers and agents, and my hard work and persistence paid off. In addition, I recently found out that "Lodestone" was a Top 25 Finalist in the Launch Pad Manuscript Competition after being assessed by a panel of judges from the film/tv entertainment industry.
I’d LOVE to fill you all in on the many projects I have going on, (including a short ghost story that will be included in a horror anthology this fall), so I invite you to follow my author accounts on social media. I will be creating an email newsletter soon for those who prefer updates that way. I will continue to post all "Curio Citizen"-related updates here as well.
If you choose to follow one (or more) of my social media accounts, you’ll be just in time for "Lodestone"’s cover reveal next week! Let me just say that the artwork is AMAZING, and I’m excited for an April 2021 release.
Thank you once again for your continued interest and support! I love you all!

      Death as a living update

We wanted to update everyone about the publishing status of our book Death As A Living. We were set to go to final copy edit this spring when events overtook us.

The first event was the coronavirus pandemic, which has shut down businesses across the country. The publishing business, and the businesses that support it, are not exempt. Printing shops have been shut down. Book reviewers have been laid off. So have buyers for the major bookstores. All of this has caused bottleneck problems for InkShares, our publisher, which has been forced to move back production dates for several projects, including several ahead of us in the pipeline.

The second event, really a series of events, was the death of George Floyd, followed by the protests and the conversations that are happening nationwide. We believe this book, designed to give readers an inside look at how police and homicide detectives do their work, is more important that ever. This has caused us to take the summer to do another edit. Given the perceptions and misconceptions surrounding policing right now, we’ve got to get this right.

At this point, we’re likely looking at a publishing date in 2021. We’re disappointed, in that we’d hoped to get this published in 2020, but we’re not going to dwell on that. There’s more work to be done, and we’re already working on it.

Lastly, as we’ve said before, we deeply appreciate all of you. Purchasing this book was an act of faith in us, our publisher and our project. We appreciate your patience and your trust in us. Thank you so much.

Hooray! I’ve just sent off my most recent draft!

I have spent the last three months working and tweaking this draft based on the editorial letter I received in February.

I don’t know about you, but March was lost for me. It took me a minute to pull myself away from the news and will some semblance of normalcy back into my life. And I’m not alone, almost overnight, every one of us had to re-make lives we had grown accustomed to.

The idea of sitting down to wax on poetically (or not so poetically) about a world I made up with imaginary characters seemed absurd as large chunks of the real world broke off and fell away from the assumed normal. It took me until April to rally. (and really, how much can one person drink and watch the news?) I turned off the TV, put timers on my apps, and got down to the business shaping this fourth draft. And here we are!

I expect have some feedback by the end of the summer. I’ll keep you posted when I do.

This is a weird time. Take care of yourself and those around you.

        Gratefully,

        Meghan Godwin

Leo Valiquette liked an update for Black Forest

Hi everyone!  I just posted a few new chapters from Parts One and Two of  BLACK FOREST for you to check out.  I’m going to ask you all two favors:  now that we’ve reached the halfway point and the end (as of today) of the first month of funding, I would REALLY appreciate it if you would:  a)  Read some of the excerpts and then post a quick recommendation or review (you can do that by clicking on "Read" on the BLACK FOREST page and then clicking on "Reviews."  b)  Personally email a friend to see if they’d be interested in pre-ordering.  I’ll provide a little script for you to use.  :)  I’ve discovered that sending personal emails, as many of you know, has proven to be the most successful tactic for this campaign.

Thank you again, everyone, for your faith in me and for your support.  It means so much to me.

          Here’s the script:

"Hello ___________!  My friend Laramie Dean is attempting to publish his first novel, BLACK FOREST, through Inkshares.  I thought you might be interested in taking a look -- it’s horror, a bit Stephen Kingish, a bit Shirley Jackson. And queer main characters.  He describes it as "Shirley Jackson meets Call Me By Your Name."  If Laramie can reach 750 preorders, Inkshares will publish it, promoting it on Amazon, putting it in Barnes and Nobles and other bookstores.  You can click on the link to pre-order. www.inkshares.com/books/black-forest Thank you,______________!"

          Thanks everyone!
