There’s a reanimated mummy on the loose in wild west Jersey. Who’s going to stop him? Does he need to be stopped? And who’s the girl in the t-shirt in the middle of winter? It’s a book about legends, science, heroism, and squirrels.
Leo Valiquette liked an update for A Prophecy for Two

A new release announcement - what just might be my favorite story I’ve written, so far!

Book One of the Character Bleed trilogy, Seaworthy (essentially the first third of this giant 254k story), comes out tomorrow – August 1 – from JMS Books! I AM SO EXCITED  – as I mentioned, I love this whole story-world so very much, as we play with the contemporary, the historical, and the ways we fall in love with movies and characters. And books Two (Stalwart) and Three (Steadfast) will be out in September and October, respectively, to finish off the trilogy!

Seaworthy contains:

~actors falling in love while filming a gay Napoleonic War-era love story

~slow-burn mutual pining

~very much resolved sexual tension (at last!)

~lots of food/food-related puns

~the purposeful opposite of the “bury your gays” trope

~the most meaningful boot-removal scene I’ve ever written!

And look at this luscious cover art, below! And also I can promise that it comes with a brand-new, not-available-anywhere-else bonus story.

I hope you love Jason and Colby and random conversations about wizards and pastries and history and bread puns and love stories as much as I do!

Leo Valiquette liked an update for The Last Faoii

    Greetings, Faoii.

I don’t usually use this platform for updates since I pulled away from Inkshares last year, but something about tonight convinced me to reach out, anyway. I just wanted to tell you that things are good, my warriors. For the first time since my initial publication of The Last Faoii in October 2017, I am finally, truly happy with being an author. I have two self-published novels out now and have re-discovered the joy of the craft that I somehow lost during my initial run at publication. I made more royalties this month than I did all of last year. But, more than that, I’ve finally started figuring things out enough that I hope I can start sharing what I’ve learned with other aspiring authors who feel like they’re just treading water. Because I remember what that was like. And I never could have gotten through it without you. I found the greatest community of people here on Inkshares, and while I no longer want to be part of this specific platform, I do still think that community is filled with amazing people who I’d like to stay connected with.

If you haven’t already, I truly hope you’ll friend me on Facebook. Or, if you’d like a more specific look at what I (and other authors, many of whom I met on Inkshares) have learned about the journey from writing to publication, consider joining this Facebook Group. I remember what it was like to feel like I was drowning in a sea of other authors and books. No one should have to feel like they’re just keeping their head above water when we’re all in this together.

    Shields up. Always.

Leo Valiquette liked an update for Fae Child

Hello supporters, backers, and pre-orderers of Fae Child!

As most of you will know from my update from my mailing list, Fae Child is set to be published in the fall of THIS YEAR. We’re in the home stretch!

What this means for you, my early supporters, is this. If you have pre-ordered a book you need to sign into your Inkshares account (password reset if you’ve forgotten it) and go into your profile https://www.inkshares.com/YOUR-NAME click the "Account" button on the top right, and select "Address." This should take you to where you can verify and/or update your mailing address. https://www.inkshares.com/YOUR-NAME/address

Since the funding campaign was in 2016, it’s likely you may have moved! Let’s make sure your physical book gets to you.

You may even have stopped using the email account you used in 2016-17 to sign up to Inkshares. If you cannot get into your account you should email Inkshares at hello@inkshares.com and they will help you get access. If you ordered an ebook it will be delivered to you via email, so this is important.

Thank you again for all your support! I can’t wait to share Fae Child with you.

        Leo Valiquette liked WILD CONVICTION

Thank you, Daryl, for your perceptive comments! Yes, Twilight, though dedicated to doing the right thing, is unaware of how she “unintentionally” perpetuates inequality, until Chapter 5. Then, like you, she chooses “examining,” as you state, her life. As GrandMama tells her: “Awareness opens the heart’s passage to Freedom.”

My KUNM Women’s Focus radio interview about WILD CONVICTION addresses the topic of privilege awareness (as well as other topics, such as creating “new stories” through “new language”). I hope to have a link to that interview to share soon.

And then there’s the complex Jackson Canon…

Thanks again for adding to the WILD CONVICTION discussion and for your interest and support! I think it is so cool to have a Discussion aspect on the Inkshares website and that you, Daryl, and other WILD CONVICTION readers are contributing with super comments to that discussion.

I can’t wait to get this novel published so I can share how Twilight gains awareness, develops altruism, manages secrets that endanger her life, deals with threats from people living and dead, and lots, lots more!

Hello Readers and Supporters of WILD CONVICTION!

Exciting news! WILD CONVICTION was selected as the STAFF SYNDICATE PICK for July! This is such an honor and so thrilling!

Thank you to Inkshares, to the Staff Syndicate Lead Avalon Marissa Radys, and to the members of the Staff Syndicate!

Also, I was interviewed about WILD CONVICTION on KUNM radio’s Women’s Focus last Saturday, July 18.

And, I am getting super comments about GrandMama’s letter from so many of you! Thank you!! If you haven’t gotten your letter yet, it will be in the mail soon!

Finally, if you know anyone who might enjoy receiving the letter with gifts, please tell them to pre-order. Everyone who pre-orders gets the "actual" letter with gifts from GrandMama.

One of my friends suggested that ordering a copy of my novel could be a gift to someone else, including teenage women and men. (She mentioned how the letter states: "Sixteen is power.") So, the gift recipient would soon receive something tangible and important--the letter with the mysterious gifts tucked inside--and later, the novel when it is published.

Thank you all again for your support! Best wishes! Mary
