Michael Haase liked an update for The Bully Book

So, I’ve decided to buy one book a month on inkshares. I figure that even if my work never sees the light of day, there’s some great reading on here. And while it’s nice to support someone, this is not simple charity, because from what I’ve read so far, I’m getting a damned good book. I also get a  nice feeling knowing that in a very small  way, I’ve helped someone’s dream come true.

Michael Haase liked an update for Squids In

Thank you to everyone who has placed a repeat order for SQUIDS IN following my last update. As a result the book is that little bit closer to publication.

Hendrix the Octopus is continuing in his promotion of the book, though personally I suspect he’s just playing Pokemon Go!

Special thanks to Nick Holden who ordered 10 BOOKS!!! Nick races in the Britcar series over here in the UK in a Renaultsport RS-01 and uses one of my Race-Keeper HDX2 onboard video-data logging systems. Now tell me that this isn’t a gorgeous looking race car...

110 orders in 46 days. LET’S DO THIS!!!

Michael Haase liked an update for Destiny Imperfect

      Greetings Destiny-followers,

It’s been a little over a week since the Inkshares/Nerdist contest and I want to thank you all again for making Destiny Imperfect possible. It’s been a rollercoaster ride so far, and the best is yet to come.

I’d now like to point you in the direction of another one of the contestants. Matthew Poat put together an immense top ten performance and his book, Squids In, looks like a complete blast. I’d love to see this project come to life, and it’d be great if you could get behind this squishy cephalopod. You can find Matt’s book here.  Hit the pre-order button and embrace your inner octopus!

      Enjoy your weekend!

Michael Haase sent an update for The Madness of Mr. Butler

3 days left to support Parkinson’s Research...and a great little humor book.

I just sent out this email to as many people as I could, and I hope to get a little help from you, my dear followers and investors. Please read the message below:

This is the last message I will send you regarding “An Adventure with Dada.”

This is my “Hail Mary Pass.”

The campaign ends in 3 days, and there are 143 copies left to sell in order for the book to get published.

It can happen if we all band together.

I realize that you would like something in return for your gallant efforts, should we make it, should the book fund…that’s fair.

IF YOU BUY (JUST $10!!!), and THE BOOK FUNDS:

        1. You get a PDF copy of the first draft, the complete story. You will get it right away, emailed to you, as soon as I can.
        2. You get put into a raffle for a 1960’s-era, fully functional Smith Corona typewriter. I realize it’s bulky, so if you win this drawing and don’t want the typewriter, I will send you a bound paper copy of the complete first draft of Dada, signed and shipped to your home instead.
        3. I will raffle off ten copies of my first draft, printed, bound, and signed with a caring message inside directly to you from me.
        4. I will put a personal message and handmade bookmark into each paperback copy that is sold ($20)
        5. I will donate $1 for every copy that is sold (including the 107 copies sold thus far) to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, a foundation close to my heart, as this disease is prevalent in my family, and a cure in my lifetime is entirely achievable.
        6. I will host a local “thank you for funding my book party.” This might not be possible for all of you to attend, but hey, if you want to fly in from out of state to come (or from another country), that would be amazing. Plus, you can meet the stars of the book, my wife and daughter.

It’s a great gamble to take, because if you pre-order An Adventure with Dada this weekend, then you have a chance to get any and all of the above if it funds by some amazing miracle. If you buy a copy and it doesn’t fund, then you get 100% of your money back, plus you get to keep the PDF copy of the first draft.

SO PLEEEEEEASE?!?!! Please give it a try. You can even start reading the entire book online now. Go ahead, I put the whole thing up on Inkshares to read. Just click the link I provided below, read the first draft, and if you like it, or if you just want to see me succeed as well as put a little money toward Parkinson’s research, then press the “Pre-Order Now” button at any level, and know that you might have just helped a guy achieve a dream, made a dent in the fight against Parkinson’s disease, and perhaps won a piece of writing history (I’m talking about the typewriter).

So what’s the risk? You’ll get your money back from Inkshares next week if the book doesn’t fund…so consider it more like I’m borrowing some cash for the weekend. I’m good for it.
From what I’ve heard thus far, the book is pretty good, too! Check out the reviews I’ve gotten so far:

CLAUDIA E. SORBIN  If you like dogs, toddlers, and family men (and who doesn’t?!) then you’ll love this humorous adventure! This guy literally goes to Hell and back for his family. Written in first person, reading this book is like listening to a friend tell a great story. Michael Haase writes with a level of sensory description that totally engages the reader and makes you feel like you’re in the story with him. This book will have you laughing out loud, sighing with it’s sweetness, and shedding just a few tears. Well worth the read!

LANDON TRINE Although not within my favorite genre, I find the premise of this book very interesting. As a parent of two small children, I find the first chapter true-to-life, expressing the emotions and fears we feel as parents (with a generous helping of humor). It reminds me of the famous quote, "There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed." I can’t wait to see how Mr. Haase fills out this story.

NICOLÁS LASAÏGUES  I read six chapters in a row, and I only stopped because my lunch break was over.  This story is AWESOME: very well written, good pacing and incredible sense of humor.   I would love to have this book in my personal library.

ABIGAIL UNDERWOOD This is brilliantly funny and the characterization is stunning

STEPHEN CARIGNAN It is exactly this type of thing which convinces me to not jog for any reason. The casual tone of the present narrator blends the author’s voice with that of the protagonist so the story is filtered through the events as they are happening. The extra technique of having the narrator know more of the story, though exactly how much is unclear, keeps the pages turning while the reader feels the events in the present moment. I look forward to reading more!

JASON POMERANCE From what I’ve read so far I can’t wait to read more. This promises to be wicked fun.  Everybody please pre-order Mr. Haase’s new book so we can see the rest!

What are you waiting for??? These are the last days to support this book! Click the link below and know that I love you no matter what!

Michael Haase liked an update for Welcome to Deadland

          July 21st.

This date is important to me for three reasons.

First, at 12:01am on July 21, 2007 I was a recent high school graduate, counting down the days until I started my first semester as a college freshman, standing in a Barnes & Noble with my little sister and and cheering with a crowd of hundreds as cardboard boxes were opened and copies of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows were lifted into the air. Years of reading and waiting were coming to an end as I entered adulthood, and the Boy Who Lived was facing off against He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named for a final time.

Second, at 3:00pm on July 21, 2012 I ended my final shift as a Hogwarts student. I took off my robe, sweater vest, and Gryffindor tie and left the castle halls. I had graduated college a year previously, but now I was leaving school, leaving Florida, and achieving my childhood dream of moving to New York City and working in the film industry. Little did I know about what the future held for me. A literally rat infested apartment, Hurricane Sandy hitting the city (I thought I left Florida and the hurricanes behind?!), and the many, many, late nights and early mornings required when working on a film set.

Third, at 5:07pm on July 21, 2016 I walked to the mailbox, slid in the key, and opened the small metal door to discover a cardboard box wrapped in white tape covered in Inkshares logos. My heart skipped a beat, and I didn’t even wait until I was back in the house before ripping the package open. Nine years after I held the final Harry Potter book, a book I wrote was sliding out of it’s shipping box and into my hands for the very first time.

Thank you, Inkshares. Thank you, Nerdist. Thank you, every single person who backed my dream, believed in my book, and brought me to this moment. If anyone told me a year ago that this would be happening today, I never would have believed them. I wrote a book, but you all made its publication possible. Thank you.

          This is only the beginning.

Michael Haase liked an update for Sync City

            Greetings Jackolytes,

The copyedited manuscript of Sync City has landed! This is fantastic news as it brings Sync City one critical step closer. I now need to gird my loins, park my butt in front of a computer and take on the words of wisdom passed down by the editorial gurus at Girl Friday Productions. It should be a fascinating experience.

Also, for those that missed it, Jack has a new drinking buddy! Destiny Imperfect shrugged off some awesome late competition and clung onto third place in the recent Inkshares/Nerdist contest. This means Destiny will become a fully published reality. Many  Jackolytes have already hitched your carriage to the Destiny train, but if you haven’t, head over to here to check it out. We’d love to have you on board.

            Have a good one!

            Cheers,

            Peter
