Dear Inkshares Community,

We’re excited to announce what we hope will become an annual Inkshares tradition.

Each year in Hollywood, industry insiders vote for the best unproduced screenplays of the year.  The list of nominees forms The Blacklist, which was originally established (and is still operated) by Franklin Leonard.  Past nominees include Argo, Slumdog Millionaire, The King’s Speech, Juno, Spotlight, and The Revenant, just to name a few.

Revisiting amazing stories that may have gotten lost in the melee is important to Inkshares.  Accordingly, we’re excited to announce our own version of The Blacklist—simply The List, because we couldn’t decide on a color.

The 2016 List will form the basis for the final contest of the year, focused on the top-voted projects that haven’t reached full Inkshares.  This includes: drafts that have not yet gone into funding; Quill projects that haven’t reached 750 and also haven’t gone into production; and still-funding projects.  As it’s the final contest of the year, projects that are funding in another contest are eligible as well.

We collected and tabulated votes from funded authors, producers, and the Inkshares staff.  The nominations are in, and we’ll be announcing the 25 nominees for The 2016 List tomorrow at 5 pm PT.  And to add an additional level of excitement, there will be three Guest Judges, to be announced on December 1st.

Yes, really. Each of these judges will be able to select a book for publication—including a book outside the top 3, so as many as six books may end up being selected.  We know, it has us too all like:

Jokes aside, this has been an amazing year at Inkshares, with strong successes—from starred reviews to six-figure TV and film deals—for new author voices.  We’re excited about The List as an amazing way to work hard in the last six weeks of the year.

Cheers,

-The Inkshares Team

Amanda Orneck liked an update for Blue Water
I just wanted to say one last time that I am so grateful for everyone who helped this dream become a reality. Today is the last day of the BLUE WATER Inkshares campaign. After today, the book goes from "Funding" to "In Production." I know I’ve been silent for a bit since we hit Quill, but I’ve been making a few small changes to Blue Water to make it as great as it can be, and worthy of your support. I will continue to update you here as to the progress of the book, as well as release date information as soon as I know it. (I can’t say officially, but if I had to ballpark it, after all the "in production" processes are finished, it will probably be close to Holiday 2017.)

Thank you all for your belief in me and in this book. I hope you like it.

      Joseph

Amanda Orneck sent an update for Deus Hex Machina

        Greetings Hexers and Machina Riders:

Editing is in process on the second draft of Deus Hex Machina (my spreadsheet of many colors is about 60% blue now to indicate finished scenes), and although I had to push into November, I am expecting to be done soon.

But that’s not what I’m here to talk to you about. Today I will be joining forces with Extra Life and starting the first of four gaming sessions where I will stream for charity -- specifically Children’s Hospital of Alabama. My goal is to raise $100 to help kids at the hospital get the treatment they need, and I will be streaming every Sunday evening throughout the month of November over on my Twitch channel. I’ll be starting at 8PM Central, and am thinking it might be fun to let the audience help make my choices as I start a new character in Stardew Valley. If you like watching gaming, stop by and say hi, and if you like what you see, please consider donating to a good cause.

        TL;DR:

        WHO: Well, me, actually.

WHAT: A Charity Gaming Stream for Extra Life

WHEN: 8PM Central every Sunday evening throughout November

        WHERE: http://www.twitch.tv/mandifesto

WHY: To raise a minimum of $100 for Children’s of Alabama. Donate here if you want to jump the line and just give money to kids without having to watch me make a fool of myself online. Although, I think that’s half the fun.

        See you tonight!

          Paying It Forward

’You don’t need much to change the entire world for the better. You can start with the most ordinary ingredients. You can start with the world you’ve got.” - Catherine Ryan Hyde, Pay It Forward

A total of 326 readers pre-ordered The Slave Prince! But since my initial goal was 350, I’ve decided to round off the donations to RM700. Nothing wrong with giving more, right? Anyway, I’ll be handing this envelope to the director of Change Your World today. It’s signed off by Thom, as he has agreed to represent us all. He’s the perfect person to do so, seeing as how your support of his adventure prompted this very act. So thank you, once again, for defining generosity and inspiring me to give back. Thank you for your huge favour, that the only way to repay... is to pay it forward.

Congratulations to the 3 winners! Please check your email inboxes.

To wrap-up the giveaways, I’d just like to say another round of thank you’s to Richard Saunders who offered his own writing, Salt x Paper for their artsy creations, Devespresso Games for the perfect game this Halloween, and Relent Band for their awesome music. Thank you for your extended support and willingness to get behind The Slave Prince with your own works. You made this campaign way more fun than it would’ve ever been, and I’m extremely grateful for that. You guys rock!

(P.S. Every reader should’ve received the ’Good Vibrations’ download email by now. If you’ve yet to, please send an email to jeynagrace[at]gmail[dot]com.)

Amanda Orneck liked an update for Women Like Us

Hello followers of Women Like Us! Long time no update, but a couple of things to report, plus something new.

The book continues to sell. Of course not in the massive numbers we’d all like, but I consider every sale a good sale, and every reader a good reader. The book sells best when it gets promoted on one of the sites that blast out emails to eBook buyers so that’s where marketing efforts are being focused. Book giveaways also help. Over a thousand people entered book giveaway number one on Goodreads, and three winners were chosen (two in England!). Another giveaway is going on right now. It ends tomorrow so why not share the link below if you know anybody who might be interested.

In the meantime, don’t forget that Amazon Reviews are critical to helping sales If you’ve read the book (and liked it...or even if you didn’t), please head over to Amazon and leave a review. We’re up to 31.  50 is better!  Or go to Goodreads or Barnes & Noble -- whichever you prefer. Or, copy and paste and leave reviews on all three. No harm in that. Here are the links:

Now on to something new. Some of you are aware that we adopted, Derric, a beagle who was rescued by the Beagle Freedom Project. Well Derric has a story to tell, although I’ll be taking it down and translating it so you can follow along. Here’s the link to Derric’s book on Inkshares. No, it’s not launched for pre-orders yet. Not quite ready for that, but you could follow along if you’d like. We’d both appreciate the support. That’s it for now.

Thanks all.  Below is the Beagle link.  Click it and let us know what you think!

Quick update this week...not much happened except, oh yeah:

The first draft is done. At 105,694 words. It’s done. And by done, I mean there’s a whole lotta work left to do. But it’s done. D-O-N-E.

              Here’s how the week went:

Nice and productive (at least in the November parts of the week).

So, now that that’s done, lots of things need to happen and I’ll go into more detail on that next Friday. For now though? Now I’m going to eat some chinese food to celebrate.

(Yes, I know that mexican is not chinese...but the first draft is done...so whatever.)
