Mike X Welch liked an update for The Devil You Don’t

11/27/17

Hello Readers!

I hope those of you in the US had an excellent Thanksgiving holiday. We had a lovely time at our house, but now that the weekend is done, it is time to get back to business.

And for me, that business is getting those final orders in to qualify Devil You Don’t for Quill publishing.

Thanks to the support of several Inkshares syndicates over the course of my campaign, and a few verbal commitments that I’ve received recently, I just need to get 40 pre-orders between now and December 31, 2017.

We’ve come this far -- and I know we can get to the end, but like always (and I know I sound like the proverbial broken record--those of you closer to my age will understand that reference better), I can’t do it alone!

So, I"m asking for your help again...

If you have ordered a copy already, please share my information with someone you know who loves books and ask them to order a copy. Even better? Buy them one for the holidays.

If anyone is ordering a copy to give as a gift, I’m happy to make up a certificate for you to give in lieu of the book until it goes through production!

If you’ve been following my adventures with Devil, please consider grabbing a copy in the next few weeks!

IF I make my funding goal by the end of December, I will be doing another raffle -- I’ll raffle off a $50 Amazon gift card and two signed copies of Darkstar Rising (so that’s three winners).

Thank you all for your continued support!

Best,
Susan

Hi everyone, just a quick update before we hit the Thanksgiving holiday.

First, I am delighted to announce (and tremendously thankful) that "Devil You Don’t" was selected by Inkshares’ Staff Syndicate as their pick of the month for November!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH to all the members of that syndicate for their support. I truly appreciate your enthusiasm for this manuscript, and am really looking forward to getting it into your hands as an actual book.

What does this syndicate selection mean? Well, it means that between now and December 31, I still need to get about 60 copies pre-ordered (before the selection that number was much higher!). I’ve had a few verbal commitments that I’m excited about, but I can’t just kick back and put my feet up. After Thanksgiving, I’ll be announcing another giveaway and updating my "about" page on Inkshares to officially kick-off my homestretch efforts.

I’ll send another update when all that’s ready for prime time.

Wishing all of you who celebrate it a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving with your friends and families. Please know that you are all on my list of things and people that I am grateful for!

    Best,
    Susan

Human enhancement is commonplace. Gene therapy is routine. Cybernetics are the new frontier. Against the backdrop of female abductions, one man fights to preserve his organic self even as he hawks machine parts to the masses.

S.E. - I’m sure this is something Inkshares might’ve mentioned, but do any of the cuts lend themselves to being preserved for a sequel?  Could a character (and therefore their story) be completely excised from the 1st book and perhaps serve as the centerpiece of a 2nd book?  I ask because if I were faced with the prospect of them either being on the cutting room floor vs asked to hold off on telling their story...I know which one I would go with.

That said....I think that Avalon is going to end up asking me to ADD 10k words to my manuscript by the time I hand it in.   Good luck, either way!
