Jason Pomerance liked an update for Nowhere Else I Want to Be: A Memoir

Dear friends and readers of "Nowhere Else I Want to Be: A Memoir":

June has been a good month for the essayist in me - two published in online literary journals!

One of my own favorites of all the essay’s I’ve written is "How To Build A Bonfire", begun when my husband and I were visiting his family farm in Ontario, Canada, and the only one that practically wrote itself.

Here’s the first paragraph, with a link to its page in The Los Angeles Review if you want to read more.

HOW TO BUILD A BONFIRE

by CAROL D. MARSH

Pick a safe spot

The slight depression with its darkened earth, bits of blackened twigs and surrounding stones lies near but not too close to the maple tree, halfway between house and cow barn. He passes that bit of ground every day. Not as often as he used to, when milking cows morning and night for sixty-plus years, yet regularly, on his way to the barn out of habit or to check in with his son before he takes the tractor to tend something in one of the fields. His wife comes with him as she’s been doing for about a year, ever since she became frightened when she can’t see him. As they walk across the yard together on this late summer day, he thinks about a bonfire and begins to plan. The stump of that dead tree he had cut down this summer would do nicely. And there’s always brush to clear, as well as accumulated stuff in the barn and woodshed. He slows his pace a bit, realizing she’s behind him, anxious, unsure of her footing on the uneven ground and afraid she’ll look up and he’ll be gone.

Read the rest of the essay HERE.

In other news, I’ve officially launched the first course in my online school for support of people in service to others: FORUM FOR GROWTH IN SERVICE. During June, the course is one-third off. Check it out HERE.

And have a great day!

Mission 51 family! This is a call to arms!

Despite a good number of pre-orders these past few days, the competition (177 entries) continues to surge. We have now dropped out of 1st place, and the ones in 3rd and 4th are coming on strong. We NEED to keep pushing even harder!

Here is the leaderboard as of this morning, in terms of unique name/email who have placed a pre-order:

164 for the contestant in 1st place
    163 for Mission 51
145 for the contestant in 3rd place
129 for the contestant in 4th place
117 for the contestant in 5th place

Mission 51 has a large number of followers, 346 to be exact. You are the best fans of Mission 51. If every follower placed a pre-order, we would win by a landslide!!

There are only 3 days left in the contest. PLEASE, if you have not pre-ordered, do it now and help us win! Be a part of crowdfunding Mission 51 into a published reality!

For all of those who have pre-ordered, thank you very much, and can you find ONE other person in your life who would enjoy Mission 51? Would you sit them down and help them through the process of placing a pre-order? That would help immensely!

Thanks again, everyone! Help me keep pushing!

Jason Pomerance sent an update for Love, Derric: My Journey From Laboratory Experiment to Freagle (who eats burritos at the beach)

Dear Kind Supporters of Derric’s Book:

It’s a good news, bad news sort of update.

The good news is that because time is running out on the pre-order campaign, you’re going to get a refund! The bad news is that, for now anyway, Derric’s book will be on hold. It’s my fault, don’t blame Derric! -- just not enough time, it turned out, to devote to a full court press on pre-orders, but one more piece of good news -- Derric’s story still will mostly likely find its way, and his Facebook page will continue to be updated regularly.

Oh, and if you still want to read a book and help the Beagle Freedom Project, don’t forget that I still donate 10% of all royalties from "Women Like Us" to BFP. You can buy and read that book today so here’s the link if ya need it!

      https://www.amazon.com/Women-Like-Us-Jason-Pomerance-ebook/dp/B01IOZUBEW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497973350&sr=8-1&keywords=women+like+us

If for some reason you don’t see a credit from Inkshares sometime soon after today when the campaign ends, shoot an email to hello@inkshares.com. You’ll probably get a kind person named Elena and she will make sure it gets done. Alternatively, let me know and I’ll bug them.

Thanks again for the early support. From Derric too!! And sorry we couldn’t make it happen this time around.

      Best,

      Jason and Derric

Jason Pomerance liked an update for Rise

Hey!  Long time no chit chat.  I said I wouldn’t abuse this method of communication and I meant it.  So, a short update.

For those that missed it, Rise is on Audible and you can get it at tiny.cc/risenovel . If you have it already, I hope you enjoy.

A lot of you have gotten back to me about reading it, but reviews are still a bit low.  If you have the time for a short word to encourage people to (or discourage them from) reading the book, then please head over to that link above and leave a review on Amazon.  If you have time beyond that, Goodreads could use it as well.

Last part.  Fall is done.  I’ve said that before.  It needs edited, but it’s written.  I’ve already started Shatter and am about 1/3 of the way through.  If you want to read the sequel, you need to go follow it here tiny.cc/fallnovel and, when it goes live in the coming few months, preorder it.  Why?  Because you literally will be getting it sooner if you do.  Remember, I don’t make a dime off of preorders.  So, the more of you that order it to get it into production, the less I make.  That’s not important.  I want you to read it.  And you will have the chance to make it happen.

          Hi, Mission 51 family!

I need your help! My work in the hospital is keeping me from making personal contact. 12-hour shifts plus 45-minute commutes does not leave much time left in the day.

FOUR days remain in the Nerdist Sci-Fi Contest. I have been in 1st place for the entire contest so far because of generous supporters like you, but it looks like I might lose my top spot today. As you well know, at risk is a coveted publishing contract for the top three contestants. There are now 177 contestants, and they are all working very hard to get there.

Here are the current rankings in terms of pre-orders:
151 for Mission 51, currently in 1st place
149 for the contestant currently in 2nd place
128 for the contestant currently in 3rd place
119 for the contestant currently in 4th place
110 for the contestant currently in 5th place

I have written over 500 personal messages to everyone I know, asking for their pre-order, and have been blessed with a great response. I am reaching out to you now because you are my best supporters. Many of you have been with me since the beginning. It is difficult for me to ask for even more of your generosity, but I am desperate. This contest is a lifetime opportunity for me as a writer.

So here is my request. It would NOT help for you to place another pre-order, as the contest requires unique individual email addresses. So… Would you encourage your spouse or a close friend to place a pre-order? Today? Or ASAP? The contest ends on June 25, so there is no time to delay.

Thank you! Please know that I am very grateful for what you have done already! I would not be asking more of you if I wasn’t in desperate need.

          Peace!

Jason Pomerance liked an update for The Children of the Forest

            So some stuff been’s going.

I know, I know, it’s been a while, and I’m sorry for that. Life has gotten in the way more than I’d like lately. However, progress has been steadily creeping forward on all fronts (at least, as far as this little* book is concerned, I can’t quite say the same for my personal life). Final editing and proof reading / story content is moving smoothly, and I really do believe that this story is something special. I can’t wait for it to finally get into reader’s hands, and hopefully that illustrious moment isn’t too far off.

Another cool tidbit, I have another artist on board. Vanessa Gillings has joined The Children of the Forest, bringing her expertise to bear with some truly wonderful work (a small preview of which can bee seen below!). In the coming days, I’ll be overseeing a massive overhaul of the book’s main page, bringing all content up to date, with new artwork, official synopsis, and even more, so if you’ve been following along, or haven’t really taken a chance to check out the book’s page yet, now’s a great time to catch up on The Children of the Forest ~

Jason Pomerance liked an update for Mission 51

Important update on the status of Mission 51 and the Nerdist Sci-Fi Contest.

We remain in 1st place, where we have been since day one, thanks to so many wonderful supporters. Thank you all so very much!

The contest is now in the final 5 days and our lead has significantly diminished. The contestants in 2nd through 5th place are all in a position to possibly take the lead. Needless to say, it is crucially important for us to keep pressing on with pre-orders if we hope to stay in the top three and win a coveted publishing contract with Inkshares!

Mission 51 now has 324 official followers. That’s amazing! Of those, 139 of you have helped with a pre-order. That means that 185 are still on the sidelines. If you are contemplating a pre-order at some point, this is the time! Your pre-order can truly make the difference between placing in the top three or not. Please, do not delay!

Again, I want to thank everyone for your support so far. If there is anyone in your life who you think would enjoy Mission 51, please pass on the link, or better yet, consider buying them a pre-order as a gift. Here is how you do it: Just sign out of your Inkshares login, then click the pre-order link, and enter your loved one’s email address when prompted for an email. You can then use your own credit card to check out. Every unique email counts towards the contest.

Five more days! Let’s do this!! :D

              Peace and love, everyone!

Dear Fans of the Assassin, Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads!

Local ADK is a free magazine distributed primarily in the Adirondacks of Upstate New York.  It’s a beautiful magazine dedicated to high-quality photography and journalism.  Tears of the Assassin is featured on the summer issue’s "Bookshelf" page.

                Check it out:  http://localadkmagazine.uberflip.com/i/830178-localadk-summer-2017/69?m4=

Check out the rest of the issue for an amazing article on Bees and lots of excellent advice for outdoor adventures in the Adirondacks. This magazine is so wonderful and of such high quality, I’m shocked it’s distributed for free.
If you like the outdoors, even just to look at through your window, you’re going to love the photography!

                Enjoy.

Jason Pomerance liked an update for Mission 51

Torkiyan missions to Cerulea (the planet Earth) have often ended in tragedy. Travel across the galaxy and a succesful landing must be difficult! The most recent evidence of these tragedies includes the remnants of the spaceship and the dead alien we found in Roswell in 1947, which experts believe was part of Torkiyan Mission 50.

This original illustration by artist Chris Pyke is in the Mission 51 chapter called Roswell Revisited. You’ll have to read the book to get the rest of the story! :-)

Mission 51 remains in 1st Place in the Nerdist Sci-Fi Contest on Inkshares. Like Mission 51, the book in 2nd place also has to do with issues of immigration. This seems to be an important subject for our times.

Mission 51 is a mature Inkshares project. Perhaps that is why it started strong in the contest and has remained in 1st Place for the entire duration of the contest so far. But there is no guarantee whatsoever it will remain in 1st Place at the end. There are other strong authors/stories that can easily displace Mission 51 now in the closing days of the contest. Several of these books are very close to doing so. Only the top three will win a coveted publishing contract on Inkshares.

You can be an integral part of bringing Mission 51 to Amazon, to bookstore shelves across the country and maybe even around the world! You would do it by placing a pre-order. Contestants are ranked by the number of individual people who place a pre-order. If you have been thinking about doing so, it is essential to do it now!

If you think you have pre-ordered but did not receive a confirmation email from Inkshares, it probably did not go through. Be sure you have that confirmation email. If you didn’t, please try again or contact me!

Please help me win a publshing contract for Mission 51 by pre-ordering your ebook or signed copy now. Thank you all so very much for your support!

                  Peace!

                    Happy Friday, all!

This is a short one, bc I don’t have much shareable news aside from what I’m about to share with you.

I was admiring my novel’s B&N.com page (we’ve all done it, don’t judge) when I noticed something there that I wasn’t anticipating.

That’s right, y’all. That is a starred review from the Library Journal. It’s not Publishers Weekly or anything, but I still had a mild panic attack when I saw it.

Enjoy your weekends, and happy Father’s Day to those who celebrate.

                    -J.
