Something about this story vibes very strongly of what I loved about "Horns", by Joe Hill.
A God in the Shed
So you’ve inadvertently trapped an ancient trans-dimensional god in your backyard shed; what do you do? That’s what Venus McKenzy and her friends would like to know.

Thank you for taking the time, dear reader. Since I am far too verbose(to a fault) to summarize this idea in 20 words, I shall elaborate in a bit more detail.

"Every god is a superhuman who evolved abilities to live symbiotically with the energy feeding parasitic entity, called the human soul. These Preturnaturals guided human existence until the fall of Rome and the rise of a rival, the Vapids; those who evolved without any soul, and who begin exterminating the Preturnaturals, forcing them into extinction or hiding.  Two millennia later, a Preturnatural named Max Lucas crosses paths with her first Vapid, and finally discovers why she has been alone, and ignorant of her ancestry for her entire life.

This has the makings to be such a cool plot bunny.

I am very intrigued by this small nucleus of an idea. I'm curious as to what time period this would be set in, and the level of technology that exists in their universe?
