Michael Sebby liked an update for The Life Engineered

Whoa! My fellow thinking beings, what a ride the last few weeks have been.

In case you haven’t heard, my second book, A God in the Shed, on Inkshares has funded successfully and will be seeing publication in a few months. It’s pretty exciting stuff but unfortunately I have no time to dwell on it. What else is taking up my thoughts?

DragonCon is starting its own awards. I won’t bury the lead; I want to see The Life Engineered nominated. I mean, I’ll be happy if any Inkshares book gets a nomination but obviously I’d be deliriously happy if The Life Engineered got a nod in there. So this will fusion reaction powering my communications with you for the next little while: Let’s get Inkshares a Dragon Award. Have a look at the nomination page and please consider putting in The Life Engineered for the Science Fiction category. While you’re there, here are some suggestions for other categories if you feel like supporting the Inkshares platform:

  • Fantasy: Asteroid Made of Dragons
  • Horror: An Unattractive Vampire

Click here for the nomination page.

Next up: one of my friends is nearing the end of her funding campaign and she is so very close to her goal of 250 pre-orders. I know I’ve been asking a lot from you guys lately, but if you have a few credits rolling around or you’re just curious about her book, check out A.C. Baldwin’s The Traveller’s Cup. It’s a great book and A.C. is a tremendously promising author and a tireless artist. She deservers this.

Finally, while I’m still asking for favours, currently The Life Engineered is sitting at 80 reviews on Amazon.com. That’s awesome and I love to read the comments and critiques of readers. However, if I can get to 100 reviews, magical things start happening on Amazon. If you’ve read The Life Engineered and enjoyed it, consider leaving a review on Amazon. It helps me more than you can imagine and I’d love you forever.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go prep the funding campaign for Arch-Android.

Dear Friends today is my birthday!!

I have many reasons to celebrate and one of the main ones is that my dream of becoming a published author will become true on November 8th, and that is thanks to all of you.

Because it is my birthday, I want to ask you for a small present. Don’t worry it won’t cost you a penny. I want you to please log into your Inkshares account and follow the project for my second novel Worlds Walker.

    Here is the link

Worlds Walker is the second book in The Catcher’s Trap trilogy, which I’m currently writing. My vision for this second book is exploring the darkest side of human nature. The first book was all about the evil magical creatures from The Mist and the horrors that human slaves had to endure. I want the second book to speak about our own capacity for cruelty and the idea that humans are not only victims or heroes, we are also aggressors.

I will continue working on this draft while uploading chapters and sharing content with you.

My plan is to launch the actual campaign on April 20th, 2017. Yup, you heard right. A year from today, on my birthday, I will be reaching out to all of you for support, so World Walker can become a reality.

Thanks again and have a drink on my behalf!

I don’t usually do two updates in one day but...

      WE FUNDED!

So let me make something clear: I use the term ’we’ when talking about this campaign because while I write the book, it’s your support and encouragement that makes it happen. These aren’t empty words meant to artificially include you and make you feel like part of the process. The whole point of Inkshares is that this is a community effort. A symbiotic endeavour between reader and writer to help create works of fiction and bring them to the public.

There are a lot of people who have gone above and beyond for this to happen and I’d like to highlight at least three that can benefit immediately from your support:

John Robin, the author of Blood Dawn, spearheaded community efforts to rally people together after I called for help from fellow authors. John is a hard working writer and a helluva guy. Check out Blood Dawn and support it.

Andre Brun, my CEGEP buddy and author of Lies & Deception campaigned for me harder than I could campaign for myself. He leveraged his own book and his salesmanship skills to gather a ton of pre-orders and get A God in the Shed in front of many new pairs of eyes. Lies & Deception is a terrifyingly ambitious book that deserves your attention. Check it out.

Paul Inman, my cohost on WriteBrain and author of Ageless also lent a hand and was a big part of the community, leveraging the release of his own book to help get visibility for A God in the Shed. Check out Ageless, I read it and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Finally, let me plug my buddy Brian Guthrie who was a great help and is currently participating in the Geek & Sundry Hard SciFi contest on Inkshares. Check out his book After Man and support it with all your heart (and pre-orders).

More soon as thing develop and, as promised:

        My dear mortals or otherwise!

We are four days from the funding campaign for A God in the Shed being over. As I write this there are only 14 copies left of the 750 needed to fund. This is good news for me as the writer, obviously, and for those who have pre-ordered as they will get their signed and numbered copies with all the other perks.

The bad news is for those who haven’t ordered.

Judging from my experience with The Life Engineered, only the 750 who pre-order will get their copies signed and numbered. I might still try to sneak in a bookmark or signed print into other copies but that’s not a guarantee. Also, only readers who pre-order during the funding campaign have a chance to win the ’privilege’ of dying in the book. In effigy of course. I’m not actually murdering readers and magically infusing their essence into my books. Don’t believe the rumours.

This means that even with 4 days left to the campaign this might be your very last chance to pre-order A God in the Shed and benefit from all the perks. If you’ve been waiting for the last minute to get your signed and numbered copy with a bookmark and a chance to have a character modelled after you die in the story then this is IT. This is the last minute (Figuratively. You still have a few hours, maybe a day or two.). I hate to be the guy to say that ’supplies are running out!’ but each day I’m shocked at how quickly copies are getting ordered. There’s a very real possibility that this is the last day of this campaign.

So yeah... I thought you might want to know that. Also; tell your friends. Just in case I’m wrong.

Thanks again for the amazing support friends. Because of you I get to go through the process of editing another one of my book. Slowly, my dream of being a writer is becoming reality.
