Craig A. Munro liked an update for The Traveller’s Cup

Greetings, Space Crew!

I’ve had a number of messages over the last while asking for an update, and until this week I didn’t have one to give you. Without further ado, here’s the low-down:

"Timeline?!"

You may recall that graphic with the timeline from the summer? Well I checked all my boxes, and we’ve been onto the Inkshares (publication) portion for awhile. I handed in a final manuscript on July 1, and just received notice that production will start in...January!

I don’t have an exact timeline on their end to know when the physical book release will be, but rest assured things are moving forward.

"Excuse me but I want it now"

It would be uncooperative of me to hand you the manuscript, but I can tell you about other projects I have on the go if that helps.

1. Rattle Creek Road

About a year ago I made some decent progress on a horror novel, which was an ongoing side project. I have a plan to finish that up during November’s NaNoWriMo this year. It’s currently outlined on Inkshares, though I haven’t yet decided which platform to sell it on. I’m hoping that by Christmas this year I’ll have a way to get e-books into the hands of everyone who supported (and patiently awaited) The Traveller’s Cup.

2. Doodles

I’ve heard that some of you like the doodles that inevitably end up in these newsletters. I’ve got a derpy webcomic series in the works that I’m hoping to launch in the coming month. Stay tuned!

3. Short Story Spin-off!

One thing that rewriting The Traveller’s Cup had me thinking about was how much potential there was for more. I wrote this as a stand-alone, and I plan on sticking to that, but that doesn’t mean we can’t know a little more about our side characters. Once the book is released (because spoilers), I’m planning to put out short stories showing more of the Grey history, and maybe a glance into the future of the universe surrounding Palunos. If these gain enough traction for a decent collection, you might see an anthology eventually too.

So, the writing part of this project is currently out of my hands. In the meantime I’m getting to work on the companion guides, more custom bookmarks, locking down a cover artist, and ensuring a set of those key and vial necklaces go into production.

This is the last leg of the journey, and I couldn’t have asked for a better crew to travel with. This is all a success because of you.

Your Sappy Space Cap’n,
-AC

Finally, I know--News From the Realm! Cue the flying pigs.

      Developmental Edits Under Way!

      • And that’s it, that’s the real story. I’m working with a fabulous professional editor who got a lot of books sold and careers under way in New York. We met and I have the first returns back from her regarding my manuscript.
      • I feared the worst, but her changes are not monumental. In fact, she said some incredibly inspirational things that were very humbling about the overall story--particularly the world building, but I’ll leave it at that, because...
      • I do have a major rewrite to complete as my narrator and point of view need to change. If it sounds horrific and difficult, it’s not, just a bit of time needed to complete. I’ll explain later, but it was the right call. I will also write an epic, slightly depressing post one day about how many drafts this story has gone through, but not until we have a polished manuscript. ;-)

So I have great momentum, yes? Yes! So things will speed up? Ha! says life. We’re expecting our second child, I’m ramping up a new job, yadda, yadda, yadda. Seriously, if any of you are getting ancy, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m actually still ahead of the usual time to publish by about 6 months to a year. Pretty crazy, right?

The good news is Inkshares is starting to crank out projects that are ready. So once the professional edit is complete, we have options. That’s when you won’t be able to get me to shut up. But until then, I appreciate your continued support and good mojo.

      Stay well,

      Kevin

        Orders, Faoii! Listen up!

We’re 9 days away from the official release of our tale, and 10 days away from the launch party I’ll be hosting here in the beautiful Montana. I think we’ve earned a celebration, don’t you? This was a hard-earned victory, and every triumph is deserving of a divine feast and ever-flowing mead (or in this case some delicious cake and tea/coffee).  You’ve earned this, Faoii. Set your shields down for a moment and revel for a while.

However, don’t put your Fantoii blade up on your wall, quite yet. We’ve raised a worthy army, it’s true, but I told you in the beginning that someday the world will know of us. They will know of our army and our battle cries. No one can escape the Choir, but we’re not there. Yet.

You can’t post a review on Amazon until October 3, but we already have 2 reviews on Goodreads, and that’s a good start. As you read our tale, I hope you’ll be willing to tell the world what you think of it. Good reviews are the only way the word will spread (Amazon’s algorithm in particular needs a hefty number of reviews before anyone will see it) and all other reviews will help me to become a better writer. In the end, any review at all is going to strengthen our army. I still need you on that battlefield, Faoii. And I look forward to fighting beside you. This isn’t over yet.

Craig A. Munro liked an update for Devil’s Call

          Friends!

There’s an alternate universe where I do things I say I’m going to do in a timely fashion and don’t pop up a month after my novel’s been published to check and see how everyone’s doing, but you know. Life.

          .

In this universe, my father asked me how to leave a review, as there is no information as to how to do so on the Inkshares page. So shout out to Papa Dorn, for without him I would have continued putting off this update.

First off: if you preordered either an ebook or paperback copy, you most definitely should have received it by now. If you haven’t, please contact either myself or the good folks at hello@inkshares.com and we’ll figure out what the heck happened.

Second off: I know some of you aren’t wordsmiths, so even just choosing a number of stars and telling the Internet that you enjoyed the novel and would recommend it helps me out in mysterious ways. There’s an algorithm Amazon uses that helps make Devil’s Call more visible once reviews hit a certain number. My sources say the number is 50, but who knows.

Please note that you need to have an account and be signed in in order to leave a review.

Craig A. Munro liked an update for Blue Water

              Happy Monday everyone.

Just wanted to let everyone know that after a bit of hyper-focus to the point of nearly blacking out, the BLUE WATER cover has been updated.  I think this is quite near what the final design will look like, but there’s always room for a couple tweaks here or there.  Seeing this makes it all feel pretty real. It’s getting closer and closer to our turn at the plate.

Craig A. Munro liked an update for The Madness of Mr. Butler

                Hello friends!

A couple of things going on, aside from the rewrite:

                1) I hope you all received the prologue. It’s a quick read, and it sets the mood for the book. Any and all feedback is welcome. I hope it makes you laugh. This is my first draft of the prologue, and I liked it so much I wanted to put it up on the page to share. Special thanks to my good friend Peter Ryan for the help with the Aussie slang. Thanks to your help, the dialogue is fair dinkum. Peter is a fellow author, and quite the talent. You can buy his released book, "Sync City," here, and follow his next book, "Destiny Imperfect," here.

                2) We are looking at a possible title change. Not that I don’t like "The Madness of Mr. Butler," but it would be great to get a title that captures the mood of the book as well as give an indication that it is sci-fi in its roots. My favorite thus far is "The Man Who Stole the World." If you have any opinions or suggestions in this regard, please let me know.

That’s really it at the moment, as I have to get back to writing. Thank you once again for your support!

                Love to all,

                -Michael

                  Hello, everyone!

Hope you all are doing well. It has been over a year now since I first came to this site hoping to finally make something off of a lifetime dream. It has been a rocky road and is taking longer than the goal I had set for myself but, what good thing comes easy? There have been times that I wonder if I’m not crazy for trying to do this and imagining this will work. Setbacks, especially recently, from getting laid off for a few months and scrambling for a new one to my anxiety catching me when I’m stuck on a particular part and has had me struggling to push forward. Yet, this world of mine continues to grow. I think about the characters and the world constantly and keep building on this story and (sometimes scrambling for a post-it note or my journal to quickly write something down) making it into something.

I’m inspired by many of you as I see your own stories and struggles and yet you continued to push and back and fight and now some of you are reaping that reward as your dream has come true and you getting published!

So as I sit down to write today I want to say thank you :)

                    Greetings, Faoii!

Our warriors have started sending in reports that they’ve received their books! After six long years, The Last Faoii is real, and I almost can’t contain my joy at its existence. As always, I have you to thank for this.  Thank you so much for your continued support. I can’t believe we made this possible.

Don’t forget-- the absolute BEST thing you can do for The Last Faoii now is to leave reviews on Amazon and Good Reads. Good reviews are the best way to make sure that word about our army spreads, and not-as-good reviews are the best way for me to learn to be a better writer in the future. Everyone has an opinion. I truly want to hear yours.

I couldn’t have gotten this far without you, Faoii, but I know that I still have a long journey ahead of me. Please be a part of it. There are still more battles on the horizon.

Shields up. I can’t believe we did it!
