Welcome to Inkshares! We have a very supportive author community here, but sometimes the forum isn’t the best way to communicate. There is a community Slack which has been set up for questions, fun, and networking - and we’d love to invite you to it!

Just DM @C. Brennecke , myself, @Michael Haase , @Alisa King  , @Evan Graham , @Craig A. Munro  or @Regina McMenomy, Ph.D. with your email and we will set you up!

Ian Moses liked an update for How to Remember

Hi everyone! I’m climbing out of the crazy-busyness that has been March. Here in Northeast Ohio, it’s still cold, but the sun has been out, thankfully. I am excited for real spring weather.

I wanted to let you all know that the manuscript is in! I turned it in last weekend after an inspiring retreat with some of my writing friends. I also read the fabulous YOUR BOOK, YOUR BRAND by Dana Kaye. Those of you who are authors must check it out. I’ve got lots of great ideas for publicity now!

But since we don’t have a release date yet - that’ll be the next update! For now, I’m working on my new manuscript, THE ENIGMA VARIATIONS, which follows three people in a small town after they receive a mysterious code in the mail. I’ll also post short stories for LOST MEMORIES as I finish them, but to be honest, I have been very into ENIGMA - I’m at about 20,000 words, and I hope to have a good first draft completed by this summer.

Well, I’m on my lunch break at work, so I had better get moving! Can’t wait to give you all more news :-)

Ian Moses created a forum thread: Thoughts?
My book "A Writer’s Dream" is a long novella (30,000 words, approximately) that I’d worked on for over a half year. It’s about becoming too obsessed with your work, how abandonment can affect a family, and the dangers of following too closely in your parents’ footsteps.

Ian Moses liked the forum thread, Publishing a Series Question
I am interested in creating a campaign for my Sci-Fi novel Upon Stilted Cities here on InkShares. I currently have it in draft mode.

This book, is the first in a series, so my question is, does each book stand alone in the distribution rights for Inkshares or do directly related sequels or prequels also become a part of Inkshares automatically?

My example is also further complicated because I have several novellas and shorter novels written that tie into the universe but not necessarily directly to the story. So I guess ultimately I am asking, is the contract a book by book basis?

Hello ladies, gents, and gentlethem! As a newbie around here, who just uploaded my third chapter (exciting!) is there any rule of thumb to how often you should update? As often as possible? Once a week? Month? If there’s a sweet spot I’d love to know.
          Thank you!
