Carol D. Marsh liked an update for It's All Fun and Games

Hi Everyone!

Long time no chat!  Things have been chugging away and this is a good time to let you know what has happened since my last message.

1) The production team has been assembled.  If you visit the project page and scroll down beneath the supporters you will see who is responsible for what, as well as an overall timeline.  We are evidently 15% through the process, whatever that means.

2) I had a conference call with my design pro, and they're putting together drafts for the cover.  A special shout out to Amanda Orneck, whose cover carried me through the funding process.  Check out her Inkshares author page for info about her own novels (one of which is already for sale on Amazon.com for the low low price of only $.99!).

3) We have a release date (sorta)!  You'll now see on the project page that It's All Fun and Games "publishes July 2016."  I'm not going to lie - I had no idea how much time it takes to professionally produce a novel.  Again, I encourage you to take a look at the production timeline to see what's going on.  Believe it or not, it takes over two months to get the books printed after the finished files have been emailed.  Mind boggling.  In any case, "July" is currently as precise as we get.  There are rumblings that the release may be timed to coincide with Comic-con (yes, THAT Comic-con).

4) Most excitingly (more exciting than a release date, to me at least) is that I have received comments on the first draft from my developmental editor, Kiele Raymond.  Kiele is a veteran of Simon and Schuster and a total pro.  Her line edits will make the reading smoother and her big picture suggestions have already begun to make the novel a more fulfilling read.

I'll be chugging away on my revision, which is due back to Inkshares in early December.  In the meanwhile, don't forget to check out It's All Fun and Games on Facebook and hook up with me on twitter @llabak.

Thanks again for your support!

Cheers
Dave

Carol D. Marsh liked an update for The Elephant in the Room

    Dear Friends,

I wanted to reach out to those of you who generously pre-ordered my book, “The Elephant in the Room.”  Since I began this process with Inkshares, I have learned a lot about the world of publishing and the time it takes to get any book, let alone a unique one like mine, out into the world.

When you supportively pre-ordered the book months ago, I’m sure you expected it to arrive in a reasonable amount of time.  I was admittedly naïve about what a reasonable amount of time was to design, edit and proof a book, and get it into bookstores. Working with the talented, enthusiastic designers and editors at Inkshares and Girl Friday has been very gratifying and only made my art/storybook better.

The release date is now mid-March, even though we hope to get your advance copies to you a bit sooner. There will be some events, art shows, etc. to celebrate the release and I’d love to see you there so I can thank you in person.

I am very proud and excited to share the book with you all.  And, again, I apologize if you expected it sooner and hope it will be

    Thanks again

Carol D. Marsh sent an update for Nowhere Else I Want to Be

      Dear Readers:

As of this moment, we have 609 of the 750 pre-orders needed for Inkshares to begin publishing "Nowhere Else I Want to Be." Thank you so much for your support of this project, especially those of you who ordered extra copies last week when the price was still low.

I have uploaded a biographical chapter to my author page. Here's how it begins:

Chapter Three – a brief biography

To this day, I hardly know how to explain why I founded, then lived and worked at Miriam’s House. Part of me wishes I didn’t have to explain at all. I wish my choice were as automatically understood as that of a wealthy business person who has risen to a position of power. Anyway, there’s no simple answer to the question, why did you want to?

But in trying to sift through it for myself, I can think of no better explanation for having ended up at Miriam’s House than the simple fact that I was a child of great sensitivity growing up in the sixties. This as much as anything else – a middle-class up-bringing with my parents’ emphasis on discipline, hard work, honesty and trustworthiness – shaped me into the woman who eventually cast her lot with homeless women living with AIDS. Read more.

Please continue to get the word out on facebook, by email, and twitter. Wouldn't it be great if we could begin publishing by the end of the year? That goal is only 141 pre-orders away.

      Have a great weekend -
      Carol
