It’s terrifying and harsh, sad and hilarious. A gripping coming-of-age story about friendship, death, and finding one’s self, set against the backdrop of a provocative Hollywood lifestyle.
Right from Chapter 1, readers will be captured by Barnes' rich prose. His descriptions make the setting tangible and you see and feel things along with the character, and the transition from a pastoral setting into one of ships and space and planets is extremely smooth. And lastly, the hooks he plants hinting that all is not well in his character's world will make readers eager to continue on with the story. It has been a while since a "harder sci-fi story has captured my attention, but Barnes indeed has it, and I look forward to the rest of this story.
