Weel it's been a rough start to the new year with lots of work and bills and the stunning realization that yes I did in fact buy that thing and yes my credit card is that high as a result... all of this of course made it into the new novel, but good god I still have the first book to get out there. So hi! I'm back, still staring down those deadlines that have been dogging me since December, while looking askance and in some cases pretending the non-existence of a few other commitments that I really wish I had looked at a little more carefully before agreeing to.
You guys know how it is, right? After all, we're all adults here and that credit card thing is a bit of a doozy.
I've been seeing the tremendous efforts of people like Tony Valdez out there pushing hard on his novel DAX HARRISON (you really gotta check it out because it's freaking awesome) and a lot of the other authors here on Inkshares and I've been willing myself to get involved more in the community, talk back more, give more updates. I've been a lot more active over on Wattpad and have been trying to get some of my followers to actually follow me over here to Inkshares since they like the book so much, but movement like that is hard as hell for even the most committed fans.
So this is the day I make the commitment to Inkshares since the Wattpadders aren't going anywhere and you guys here have yet to read the first book. It's time to cycle up the Twitter and other social media engines and really push to get the word out about SO YOU MIGHT BE A VAMPIRE.
Quick note - I'm running a contest over on my blog, just wanted you guys to be able to play too. This is for my first book - many characters from which appear in Asteroid Made of Dragons. Please share this around! Anyone can enter who is a giant, GIANT nerd and would like a free audiobook and maybe a $50.00 gift certificate to their local book store.

Time for another giveaway! I’ve been sitting on these download codes for the Spell/Sword audiobook for long enough. My birthday is at the end of the month and to celebrate I want to GIVE 10 people a free download of the book from Audible.com. Congrats to the winner! The next drawing will happen when I reach 80 readers.
Wow, that was brief.
Today I want to announce something exciting for Blood Dawn!
I'm finally on Johnslist, thanks to Craig Monroe, author of The Bones of the Past and a winner of the recent Sword & Laser Contest 2.
So ... what's Johnslist?
Nothing at all like Craiglist, I promise. Johnslist is one of many ideas the Inkshares author community on Goodreads has come up with to help work together and promote other Inkshares books. The idea behind it is simple: one of the community members creates a thread encouraging other members to help a certain project get funded. An author cannot create a thread for themselves, because otherwise that's self-promotion. It has to genuinely be other members of the community. I was the first author to do this for Andrew Wood's great epic fantasy book, Storm of Fury, but then the trend continued, which is why the authors named it after me.
If you'd like to help Blood Dawn get fully funded, then you can join the efforts. First and most important, if you haven't bought the book yet, then let's rectifying that right now -- click here to order an ebook or print book of Blood Dawn.
All right, so for those who have ordered and really want to help get this book into bookstores everywhere, you can now join the team effort. Just follow this link to the thread:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/17978018-let-s-get-blood-dawn-fully-funded
If you're an author and you haven't heard of the Inkshares promotion group, then be sure to join up because you're missing out on an amazing wealth of knowledge on how to succeed with crowdfunding a book. Even if you're not an author, feel free to join our group if you are a passionate reader and would like to help or share ideas. The community is open to all. Plus, we'd all love to hear from some readers on exactly what interests them or turns them off when it comes to choosing new book projects to back.
The final 3 months is here, so lets work together and make this happen!
Good morning readers!
Now that the Sword and Laser Contest is over, I've done what any person would do without a lick of sense when it comes to marketing: updated my book's cover and provided more information about it in the form of a synopsis.
Would it have helped generate more interest in Transilience during the contest? Maybe. I dunno. The past is the past. Insert more platitudes.
What matters most is that the earnest belief these additions will generate interest and enthusiasm about Transilience for the remainder of its funding campaign. I need to convince a whole lot of people to part with their money in the next 49 days. Money well spent. That much is certain. Nonetheless, this is the powerball and therefore requires a tad more persuading.
Here is the cover in a much larger format.

Okay...that was really big! I can't seem to resize the image either. Are you still here???
Good!
The blurb in the top righthand corner may seem out of place when compared to what else you may have read with regards to Transilience. Rest assured, it fits perfectly. The idea of legacies forms the central theme of the novel. It is what ties the two cases together and ultimately allows the reader to assess the values and morals of the characters, and perhaps even the world in which we inhabit.
One final thing before I sign off.
I would like to thank my buddies, Mike and He-who-shall-not-be-named, for the generosity in supporting Transilience. I have known these guys for a very long time and shared in some pretty astounding adventures in real life and fictive/virtual world. Simply uttering the word "Shar" will bring back a flood of memories about a D&D session that was simultaneously some of the worst story-telling I ever subjected anyone to, and the most memorable. And it was in the unforgiving jungles of Chult with Mike that I experienced my one and only TPK. I am very happy and proud to have your names listed in Transilience.
Cheers!
Kevin
