Thomas J. Arnold sent an update for Exile, Magus

It was a busy weekend(always trust in Samhain to stir things up a bit) despite me being laid up feeling sick and miserable through the latter half of it, so I have quite a bit of information to pack into this Tuesday update.

First off I was originally going to be reminding everyone that there was only about two and a half weeks left to preorder, but as some of you may have noticed I got an extension on my funding deadline.  We now have until the end of the year to get to at least 250 preorders (preferrably 750 though).  That still leaves us a long way to go in just under 2 months though, so I still can't rest easy yet.

The second piece of news ties into that extension though.  I've continued gaining followers, and am now over 200 (205 to be precise).  This means that if everyone who has followed but not ordered yet were to order, then we would very nearly be to the light publishing goal of 250.  Cue me begging you to buy.  Seriously though, if you haven't ordered yet, I do hope you do so soon.  I would be eternally grateful.

The last piece of news is that we also crossed the 50 books preordered threshold, so I will be posting up Chapter 5 this week.  I'll be returning to my split chapter format, so parts 1-3 of Chapter 5 will be up this evening with parts 4-6 following on Friday.  This also means that we've ticked off one mark from the chapter release by preorder schedule, leaving off us with the below remaining.

100 preorders:  Chapter 6.

250 preorders:  Chapter 7.

500 preorders:  Chapter 8.

750 preorders:  the climactic Chapter 9.

1,000 preorders:  Chapter 10.

2,000 preorders:  Chapter 11.

5,000 preorders:  Chapter 12.

Finally, I've been been wanting to come up with some rewards I can offer you myself for preordering, but am limited by my lack of both funding and ability to come up with good rewards.  Of course everyone knows that if the book gets to 750 orders then all preorders will be signed copies as part of the Inkshares incentive, but even if it only gets to 250 I feel like I should do something to give my thanks.  It did give me an idea though.

If we reach 250 preorders but not 750, then once the books are being shipped out I will contact all Super Readers to make arrangements for them to send me their books to be signed and returned if desired.  I will also choose 10 Readers at random to contact to make the same arrangements.  I will exclude any Readers who I personally know and am within an easy travel to, since they can get a signature pretty much anytime if desired.  I would love to do this for everyone, but doubt I could afford to ship everyone's books back to them, which is the only reason I'm limiting it to the 10.

I haven't been able to think of a good reward for 750 preorders, so I'm going to ask you all what you would like.  If you have any suggestions, then contact me through my Facebook page(link embedded).  I'll consider all feasible suggestions, and most likely let you hear them all in a future update so you can vote on your favorites.

That's all I've got for today.  Thanks for your support, continue reading, and please order if you haven't already done so.  Enjoy the rest of your week.

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for Daughter of the Mara

    Hi all,

I haven't fallen off the face of the Earth! My absence from my campaign is due to the fact that I moved in mid-October and well, trying to run a campaign, work, and move to another city became a bit more than I can handle. While this absence has put a serious dent into my campaign timeline I'm hoping those of you who have already given me support will share this campaign with your friends and family who might also be interested. As for me, well, I suppose it is time to seek out the fantasy fans of Bend, OR.

    Thanks again for your support!

    Alex

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for The Remains Of Civilization
Hello avid followers of The Remains of Civilization!

I know I should've put out an update by now, and believe me, I had been putting of making this update for a while now. Right now, I think I missed the best time to put it out.

The national novel writing month is here, and I am writing the hell out of my book. It's going to be a tough month, but I think I can brave through it. It's going to take all 100% of me to finish writing this book, so I can't afford to promote my book anymore; writing comes first. So I am going to need followers of this book to shell out a few dollars to keep this book afloat and ready to be published.

The other reason for why I haven't been chucking out any new updates in a while is because I thought this book it's going to die (figuratively, of course), it's been weeks since the last time someone has backed this book. I am really nervous about not reaching even the light funding goal. I do need every single one of you to chip in and help. It's not going to be the last time I am going come out of my cave to beg, but I would rather write an eulogy for this book and bury it in my backyard than stop writing and just...move on. Writing is something I liked to do, and I truly believes in my stories 110% . So I wanted this book to hit the bookshelves with all it's glorious ink-filled pages.

If you truly liked this book and wants to see this in print, just press the buy button. It's the best way to support this book, but refer it to your friend is also an awesome way to help. $20.00 is a lot to commit to some stranger on the Internet and probably aren't a worthy investment, but give me a chance and I might actually churn out something enjoyable to you dear followers that are reading this.

Help me bring the characters into a spellbinding volume of action, adventure, some immaturity, humor, and vague science fiction that you see on the bookshelves. Heck, maybe ten years later, you might feel proud of yourselves that you're indirectly responsible for this book's creation and the beginning of my writing career whatever the case, enjoy yourselves and this might be the last time you will hear from me for this month.

      Farewell,
      Yicheng Liu.

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for Tale of Boulderoth

Today for #ManCrushMonday, I give to you Padrus Masos, the first King of Boulderoth, a simple fisherman who grows up on The Grey Crag, a city like Atlantis and Alexandria with a pinch of the Florida Keys.  He's got a wife and three kids until his wife leaves for a super rich dude.  Then he's just got three kids.  The Grey Crag is destroyed by storms and earthquakes and sucked down into the ocean and in the chaos of their escape, his oldest son along with his daughter-in-law and grandbaby are lost.  He manages to get on board a ship with his two children Nokolus and Narus who are 15 and 10 at the time.  As they get closer to land there's a reef and a whole bunch of the ships go down and everyone gets eaten by sharks, but Padrus and his kids make it to shore and they get thrown in jail because the King of the Tarkins is all paranoid because he pissed off the Kambis and they put a curse on the whole kingdom and it's a big mess there.  Whatever.  Long story short, Padrus meets a Tarkin lady named Amaryllia Vulepus and they have a kid in 518 B.E. (that's Before the Empire).  There's a coup and Padrus finds himself king of a kingdom he doesn't understand.  His first act as king is to protect his new kingdom from all the zombies that arose because of the Curse of the Kambis.  So he and his eldest living son, Nikolus go out and they fight some zombies, but at this city called Serleon, they are overconfident and they find themselves surrounded and there are some Harres that ride up because they see smoke and they're curious, but their horses don't like the zombies so they're like "Well, fuck this." and they leave.  Nikolus is killed in the chaos and that really hits home for Padrus.  They manage to kill all the zombies, but Padrus develops a drinking problem and winds up ruling for ten more years as a super bummed out King who doesn't get out of bed that much.  He dies and leaves the kingdom to his daughter, Narus.  She's a badass.  She is later killed by Madman Titus Tavro, a former zombie hunter turned outlaw.  So that's some stuff.  Rock and roll.

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for Phantasia

Reworked Reap (I sent out the updated version already). I had done this about a month ago, but took some time away from it to look at both versions with fresh eyes. I even updated a few things about the 'campaign' page itself. Anyway, feel free to let me know what you guys think about this revised version, or any of the other stories I have.
