While working on editing for The Burned and my other stories, I’ve realized that it seems dull because it is. You’ve read the story, studied it, wrote it, and you know every single detail. But there are points while editing where I go "YES! I wrote this?!? This is awesome!" (forgive my ego) and I kinda forget I’m editing and admire myself for a minute. Be proud of what you did, don’t edit shamefully, edit constructively.
There have been points where I wanted to rip my eyes out so I’d never have to read, reread, and rereread stories looking for mistakes. It can get agonizing so it helps to have people read it for you and point out mistakes. You know what you want to get across and they know what they can get from the story, so use it.

Kaytalin Platt liked an update for I Am Waltz

    Hello Readers & Friends,

A BIG update. I Am Waltz has officially finished the developmental edit and is now with the copy editors at the publisher. The time is rapidly approaching now and books will be on there way sooner than later. The timeline provided by the publisher for this is a few months, so I hope everyone will get their books during the spring.

For those with signed paperbacks, the books will first be sent to me to sign, then the publisher will send them out to you all.

Thank you all again for your continued support and I hope you all love I Am Waltz when you get it.

Soon I will begin working on the sequel to this book and as promised all early adopters of I Am Waltz will be purvey to unique insight and tidbits/early drafts or the sequel.

    -Love, Matt

Hey guys! I’ve been working on content editing for the last month. It was a bit hard to get going at first, mostly because I have been editing for longer than that, but once the Geek and Sundry contest concluded and The Living God made quill, I doubled down my efforts after passing it off to two beta readers.

I’m getting ready to wrap up the edits from their comments and pass it off to a final round of beta readers (2).

I’m just curious who else has had a point with their editing process, after they’ve culled and poured over it for so long, that they just can’t see it as decent writing anymore? Has anyone else just reached a point where they have doubts about what they’ve created?

I think a lot of it stems from having read the same sentences and paragraphs over and over to the point that I’m a bit desensitized to the information.

What are some of your editing to the point of insanity stories? Have you ever made yourself doubt your story by focusing too much on perfection?

Kaytalin Platt sent an update for The Living God

      Hey everyone!

Sorry, I’ve been MIA with no updates. It is the holiday season and things have been a bit crazy. I’ve been bouncing around with some heavy editing and trying to focus on work. I’ve also been diving back into my web development courses and dealing with a general "heavy run down" feeling. Also, house hunting, wedding planning, and... well, life can be exhausting. If you’re interested in a sample of what I’ve been up or just curious about what it looks like from 1,000 feet in the air, click this long sentence!

I’ve got some exciting news! The Quill Brotherhood Syndicate chose The Living God as its December pick! A really nice email to find a few minutes ago.

So, there are 24 days left in funding The Living God. We passed Quill with your help, and the help of the syndicates that were kind enough to throw their support behind the book (The Fantasy Syndicate, The Break the Bechdel with Strong Female Characters Syndicate, and the Quill Brotherhood Syndicate).

With 24 days left, and it being December, I’m shooting for a Christmas Miracle! We’ve got 24 days and we’re at 281. The miracle? 750 orders total. 469 in 24 days. That is around 20 orders a day, and seemingly impossible, but, why not? Why not believe in a Christmas/Holiday Miracle? Can you help?

If you’re feeling in the giving spirit, how about grabbing a second copy for a friend? Or maybe ask that friend to grab a copy? If you haven’t got your own yet, and you’ve been on the fence because of budget reasons, since we made Quill the price dropped! E-books currently sit at $5.99 and signed print copies at $15.99! Incentives are still there on the page, and will be available until after funding closes in 24 days!

It is a long shot, and I’ve got about as much energy as a bear in hibernation (darn time change), but I’m going to give it a shot regardless of the distance. Are you in?
