I know Inkshares credits changed recently, but did they change again? As far as I can tell and based on what readers have told me (who I’ve been perhaps wrongly telling to check for credits after their first purchase) it seems credits are no longer given out. Is this true? Inkshares still tells you that you will receive credits for a referral and it’s still in the FAQ, but my impression is that all that is outdated. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Only 9 days left and 18 orders to go. If you have followed this project but not yet ordered; now is the time. If you have considered telling a friend about the project; now is the time. If you have thought about picking up a second copy; now is the time.

We are so close. 750 is a lot. A huge number. I’m really thankful y’all have gotten me this far. This is a book I’ve been thinking about/ writing for years and to know so many people also give it value is really encouraging. We’re so close to having a dream of mine realized. I sincerely hope that this is the very last time I have to ask you to buy, that the next time I write is just to thank you to helping me make it.

    Onward and upward!

Jane-Holly Meissner liked an update for Witherfist

Witherfist is now in the Geek & Sundry contest top 10. This is a huge milestone, as it’s the first time since the beginning of the contest back in August that the book has broken into the top 10.  In a contest with over 380 entrants, it’s a real honour to be up there and in the company of so many other brilliant authors and their books.

How did this happen? Over this past weekend, Inkshares syndicates - groups of like-minded readers who band together to support books - began choosing their monthly picks. Witherfist was fortunate enough to be nominated and chosen by the members of the ’Break the Bechdel’ syndicate, whose support added a whopping 32 new preorders to the preorder total. A massive thank you goes to Tahani Nelson, author of The Last Faoii, for putting Witherfist forward and for all of the syndicate members who voted to make this possible.

What does that mean?  If you visit the contest page, you’ll  now see the Witherfist cover listed along with the rest of the top 10 entries. This will give the book extra visibility to contest visitors and, should it be fortunate enough to stay in the top 10, this ranking will remain frozen in place once the contest ends on November 1st.

Does this mean Witherfist will be published?  It certainly helps towards that goal! We are now 50% of the way to the 250 copies needed for publication and being in the top 10 puts Witherfist one step closer to the top 3 (who are all guaranteed a full publishing deal). Although the Geek & Sundry contest ends at the beginning of next month, Witherfist has until December 31st to reach the big 250.

      We’re now halfway there.

      We can do this.

      ~ Jenny

I have a love for pretty much every form of speculative fiction, and I want to try my hand at writing all of them at some point. I have ideas in mind for an action-heavy space opera series, a Douglas Adams-esque sci fi parody,  a sardonic cyberpunk noir detective series, a fusion of Tolkeinesque high fantasy and the space opera genre, a historical sci-fi, an action comedy, an abstract Lovecraftian horror story, and an urban fantasy crime thriller.
          To name a few.
I pretty much just write whatever I like, and don’t pay much attention to what genre it falls into (or doesn’t). As long as it allows me to build creative new worlds, I can play in any genre.

Jane-Holly Meissner liked an update for A Tale of Ghosts and Guardians

            Happy Monday!

Today I have another Monster File to share, and first, some good news. The Urban (or Rural) Fantasy Syndicate has chosen A Tale of Ghosts and Guardians as their inaugural book to support. It is a great honor, and they had this to say about it:

It’s fresh, it’s original, and it really captured our interest.

Now to capture 700 more interests in the next 36 days!

Today’s Monster File is on Vampires. A creature with a long history in literature, film, and television, in  A Tale of Ghosts and Guardians the vampires are calculating, ruthless, and incredibly fun-loving.

Vampires are transformed humans, who must die and be reborn to achieve immortality. With the life-force gained by drinking blood, they can keep the image they had when they were reborn, along with increased strength, agility, and healing. Without blood, they will grow weak, worn, and haggard until they become immobile and crumble into dust. Sunlight and fire can also turn a vampire to dust. Decapitation will not immediately kill a vampire, but with the mouth separated from the heart, they will eventually crumble due to lack of blood.

Monique is a vampire from 15th century France. She is featured in Afterimage, please take five minutes to check it out.

Next week the spotlight will be on Werewolves.

Get your social media presence up. Even if you don’t personally have a large following, you can word of mouth it. Encourage people to like/comment/share/retweet/etc. Also, be excited! It’s contagious. The more jazzed you are about your project, the more that other people will be curious about it and check it out more. Getting involved with this community is also a huge help!

I’m mostly happy in my little corner of sci-fi and fantasy, though I wouldn’t say no to some talent in writing page-turning horror.
