Hello friends and supporters!

I mentioned this briefly in my last update for Tantalus Depths, but I don’t think I actually shared it in a Proteus update, so I’m amending that now. We’ve received one more extension for Proteus, making our new deadline the end of August. I didn’t want to do it, but with about 270 orders left to go, there was no chance I’d hit the goal otherwise. With our new extension, we should have no problem hitting the 750 pre-order goal on time though. We’re almost two thirds of the way there, so with your help, we should definitely be able to do it!

In other news, the amazing Jacqui Castle just interviewed me for Writing Bloc. We discussed the merits of crowdfunding and worldbuilding, and I shared a few insights about the writing process for both Tantalus Depths and Proteus. Check it out here!

NPR is putting together a list of 100 scary books and stories. It goes without saying that it would be an honour to be included in that list (along with as many of my horror friends here at Inkshares). And you can help.

It’s been a long time coming, friends, but these little ladies have arrived. By now those of you who ordered physical copies should have received shipping notifications. When your books arrive, I’d love it if you posted a photo of them. I can’t wait to see how far the mech crew has spread.  

This is a book that was driven entirely by you, the readers. Without the interest in this book, it wouldn’t exist. It would still be a jumble of graphic novel pages, barely a whisper of what it would become. 

So today I celebrate you. Thank you for this gift of a book. 

May the Code replicate eternal.

We’ve been busy here preparing for a move, which is exciting, but also a good distraction from waiting for my turn with the developmental editor at Inkshares. It seems like he will get to look at my book this summer. 

In the meantime, I’ve kept busy with some other writing projects. I’m working closely with a new group called Writing Bloc, contributing to their blog and assuming the role of Project Manager for a short story anthology that should come out this fall. I spoke at a panel on The Art of Publishing at the Claremont High School Literary Festival Word Play on May 19 and had a great time!

I also just finished outlining a new novel-- this one is speculative fiction and I’m really excited about it! I’ll keep you all updated as Rock of Ages moves forward. Thank you so much for your support!

Hello, readers! I hope you are having a fine Memorial Day weekend. We tried to have a yard sale, but it got rained out, and then no one came (I really do need to work on my sales skills). Instead I’ll settle for writing and attempting to get through my massive TBR pile.

Lots going on in Dubiel-land. I can’t share much yet, but there are a few cool things in development. Let’s just say you’ll be able to read something I’ve written by the end of the year! I’m also nearly halfway done with the draft of my new novel, THE ENIGMA VARIATIONS. Not sure if I should crowdfund it or pursue traditional publishing. What say you, readers?

I have good news for you about Curio Citizen!

I have the privilege of working with Matt Harry, Inkshares’ Head of Story Development, as my editor. During the past few weeks, we have discussed my manuscript and decided on a few specific changes to strengthen the book. I am excited to start writing those changes based on Matt’s expert advice, and I know Curio Citizen will be an even better book come publishing time. 

Day one of writing those changes was not without distraction. This little Curio showed up in our attic this morning--I’m afraid we will not be integrating him into our society as Carmen wishes the paz would do for her, but something tells me this snake would prefer it that way also.

But I will power through this and any other distractions thrown my way to get Curio Citizen into your hands as soon as possible, and in the best quality possible. Thank you again for all of your support and patience! I will continue to keep you updated as the process continues.
