Welcome to the final frontier, Space Crew. We’ve reached the edge of the galaxy, and there’s no turning back.
News #1: Content is Complete
I’ve been through a couple rounds of edits with the Inkshares team since the last update, and this week I sent off the final doc for one last look-over before it hits the printers. The deal is sealed; I can no longer touch this book (which I have very good and very anxious feelings about).
News #2: We Have a Cover
I’ve admittedly been holding onto this for awhile, but I wanted to do a BIG UPDATE with all the BIG THINGS. This was created by the good folks at Cover Kitchen, and they knocked it out of the park in my biased opinion:
News #4: Backer Goodies are Being Prepped As We Speak
The Companion Guide is getting its finishing touches before I send it off to print. Pendants have been shipped by the amazing Esanany, and they’re looking fantastic. Take a look:
No doodle today, because these images are worth more of your data.
And in case you missed it, you’ll have your books by May 1! Don’t forget to make sure your address is up to date on Inkshares.
Your somewhat sedulous Space Captain,

Hey there friends,
Yesterday was the last day of funding for Arch-Android. As you can easily guess, we’ve not met our funding goal. To be honest, as excited as I am for this book, I could never find the time and energy to put into the campaign. I’ve never been comfortable asking people to buy things, especially if I’m going in for seconds, which I felt was the case.
There was also a lot of work to be put into marketing and promoting A God in the Shed along with writing the sequel, Song of the Sandman. All while keeping a nine-to-five job and a somewhat normal life.
Essentially, Arch-Android became the victim of my success and lack of success at the same time. Doing well enough to consume my time, but not quite to the point where I can free myself of the 40 hours a week I spend at my day job.
So what does that mean for Arch-Android?
I can’t thank you enough for the support you’ve provided me. It stings that this very support that many of you have supplied is the reason I’m tied up in other projects to the point where I can’t do justice to Arch-Android with a proper campaign. I hope that, if I do come back asking for help again, you’ll be willing to give it one more time.
Cheers,
JF Dubeau
I usually like brief updates, so I’ll treat y’all to the same.
The book is delayed. It’s partly my bad, partly related to the difficulties of coordinating many busy people, and partly good tidings. I’m hoping for a release on The Ides of March, as that seems, thematically, apropos.
On the plus side, all that needs to happen presently is a slight doctoring of some files and the final printing. Yay!
Keep your eyes peeled!
I thought long and hard about the cover...
Should I stick with the crown of blood or should I head in a different direction? I chose a different direction. And this... is the result.
Why constellations? Why is there a crown in the sky? Why is Thom standing on grass? OK, so I don’t know why he’s standing on grass. But for the first two questions, the answers are in the book. I guess its safe to say, this cover reflects the content of the book more than the title itself. And that... makes it even more awesome. Oh, I can’t wait to see it in print! Can you?
Aside from this new cover, the content of the book is well on its way to publication. It has been sent to the media and influencers for the pre-launch marketing campaign. So, the next time you hear from me, the book will be on its way to you.
*IMPORTANT NOTE: If you ordered a paperback, log into your Inkshares account to double check your shipping address. Be sure it is the correct place you’d like the book to be sent to. If you have trouble logging in, please contact hello@inkshares.com for assistance.
Well, that’s about it for this short update. I hope you like the cover, as much as I and the team at Inkshares do. Until you hear from me again, have a wonderful week ahead!
