Thanks for following The Hide! The inspiration for this novel came when I discovered that all three of my daughters have a kind of synesthesia called Ordinal Personification, where they'd identified numbers as having personalities, genders, and colors, making them (at least two of them) really good at math. If you've checked out the video for The Hide, that screen of 2s and 5s is based on one created to test for synesthesia. As  many synesthetes see numbers as different colors (e.g. 1=red, 2=yellow, 3=blue) they're able to see the embedded word or shape right off the top.
