The first crewed mission to Mars starts off in 2031 with sabotage, but no one really knows why. The team of seven needs to work together to survive the unforgiving surface of Mars, but a lack of honesty threatens to tear them apart.
It's always wonderful to have a unique story come to life, and Invictus is no exception. The premise grabs readers immediately and the characters description of their inner turmoil only further the dichotomy of the external pressures. This is well thought out and a joy to read. I look forward to reading more.
I’m just a user and as such am not speaking for Inkshares. But as someone who already has an Inkshares title in print under the full publishing package, I can probably add to the advice here.
Inkshares, like any reputable publisher does not have a standard (one type fits all) typeface. Each book is different and goes through an interior design after the ms is finalized and locked.
I guess Quill has more limited options, but if you get the full publishing package, you can make suggestions and confer with your book designer about typeface and other design issues. There are a lot of options and ultimately, you need to decide what works best for Your book.
Most professionals submit their ms in 12-point type ~Times New Roman, Arial or Courier.
Here is a link to a pretty good rule of thumb guide for formatting a ms.
I wouldn’t worry too much about the typeface and formatting while you’re editing, as that is kind of getting ahead of yourself. Unless you’re writing your book in InDesign, that is. (Which probably isn’t a good idea, unless it is highly graphical.)
Formatting should be the very last step, after every last typo is caught and corrected, because every little change will cause shifting and it doesn’t make sense to address spacing issues until after all the shifting is done. Things like playing around with kerning, to fit that one last word on the page, are a last step. You’ll get a chance to weigh in on those issues/decisions during that step, so maybe just make a note of anything unique you have in mind for now.
