Kelsey Rae Barthel sent an update for Beyond The Code

*Crawls out of editing cave, hissing at the light*

I LIVVVVEEEEE!!!!!

Yes, I’m still technically alive. Haven’t fallen in a deep, dark hole or anything like that. I’ve just been a slave to the editing process and, of course, my day job.

But I’ve decided to peek my head up from the abyss to send you all an update.

First and foremost, Beyond the Code news. Editing has been going slower then I’d like but very well. Results from my wonderful beta readers have given me some ideas for rewrites of the story. These changes will give some of the characters actions more of a dramatic punch that I really think you’ll all enjoy.

In other news, I will be taking my first try at pushing my book at a convention. I will be at the Edmonton Expo on Saturday. I will be handing out bookmarks to anyone who will take them to try and get the word of Beyond the Code out. I hope to see any of you there.

I also want to take this opportunity to talk about Evan Graham’s book Tantalus Depths. It’s a really well thought out world that deserves full funding and it is very close. Please, if you have not already, take the time to check it out and consider backing this great project.

Thank you all for continuing to support this my dream and I hope I can give you a fully realised product sooner, rather then later.

    Greetings, Faoii.

Well done, my warriors! I’ve been seeing a lot of talk about our army on Facebook and Twitter this week. Everything from the world and characters to the recruitment video I put up on the page. Keep searching for other fighters and show them where to pick up their blade. There’s just over a month left in the contest and I want our banner at the top of that hill at its conclusion. There are a lot of warriors between us and that victory-- but we are faoii. We WILL do this.

As of now we’re still number 7 in the contest, but we’re only 2 pre-orders away from taking 6. We have 143 pre-orders-- more than halfway to select publishing. However, we have stalled on recruitment this week. It’s been several days since any new warriors joined the fight. They are out there, faoii. Find them.

I’m drawing for the $100 Visa Giftcard a week from Saturday. If you haven’t picked up a blade yet then what in Illindria’s name are you waiting for? Get in the fight, faoii!

Finally, a new interview went up today. If you want to know what I’m like when I’m not barking orders at you on inkshares, check it out:

Ugh. Look at that smile. And those flowers. Hardly becoming of a faoii general.

That’s all for the day, faoii. Keep recruiting. I’ll tell you more as I learn it.
    Dismissed.

      Lore Update:
Deep space mining has become a crucial part of humanity’s expansion across the stars, and Exotech is the undisputed leader in the field. The surveying expedition to Tantalus 13 is but one of hundreds in one of the most lucrative ventures in the galaxy.

With thousands of probes scattered across the galaxy searching for valuable new worlds to exploit, it’s perhaps inevitable that Exotech would be the ones to stumble across a find like Tantalus 13. For mining, Tantalus 13 is barely worth the effort, yet Exotech clearly believes otherwise. How much do they know about what lies beneath its surface? What is it they expected SCARAB might find there? For that matter...are they ready for it?
Find out now when you pre-order Tantalus Depths!

Kelsey Rae Barthel liked an update for The Love Fool

        To my dear Supporters,

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

WE’VE MADE IT! thanks for your support, THE LOVE FOOL reached the minimum threshold to get published via Inkshares.

First, I must thank all supporters for your generosity and time taken to back my project. It’s because of you, my dream to have a book out in the world is happening.

This book has taken up my spare time for over five years. And it all started when I attempted to write a book while temporarily living in Rome back in 2011. I never thought I’d actually have something until the story just poured out of me like a never-ending flowing river of gold. I returned from Rome with a large chunk of the first draft, then completed it in my spare time (after my full time job). After several cycles of reviews and feedback from several clever beta readers (you know who you are), and being slapped and pleasantly butchered by awesome editors... six versions later, I had the beautiful final manuscript of the novel you will be receiving. So, was it a lot of work? Heck, yeah!

Some of you may or may not know, that this whole writing/publishing situation is new to me. I’ve researched and learned a lot about the industry and all the many different ways a book can be published. From traditional (literary agent – publishing house) to crowd-funding (like Inkshares) to self-publishing. I looked at THE LOVE FOOL through different means and finally, like many of you, I am super excited that it will finally be available!

So, what’s next? Inkshares will be going through my manuscript -- making sure to have it print-ready, then the book will be released. So, look out for an official announcement with actual release date -- and, if you’ve ordered a paperback copy, info on when you’ll be receiving your signed book.

I’m really looking forward to finally share this story with you all. And I apologize for the delay and the tease, but I promise it’s worth it. THE LOVE FOOL is happening!

Again, I thank all of you backers who generously supported THE LOVE FOOL.

        More details to come.

Really, sometimes we need a good talking-to... but that’s besides the point!

There’s a Facebook group for "Beneath White Clouds," and I’d like for you to join it. I’d like for you to invite your friends to the group. I want you to join in on the discussion. Ask me what you want to know. Does the story remind you of something? Post it to the group! See a post you like? chime in and share it out. I’m trying to keep info, updates and interaction moving at a steady pace, but I appreciate any feedback you could give me as to how you think I should push this effort ahead.

Come closer, my friends. Join the Beneath White Clouds Party.

          That sounded creepy, didn’t it?
