Kelsey Rae Barthel liked an update for Tantalus Depths
You know, I’m not the only person who stands to benefit from everyone helping to get my book funded.

If you order a copy, you’ll be able to say you helped launch an author’s entire career. When you’re walking around the mall and you see my book sitting in a bookstore window, you can point at it and say "I helped put that there."
When the movie rights get sold, and Tantalus Depths becomes the big summer blockbuster, you can go see it on the big screen and say "This movie exists because of me." Every book I ever write and get published will only have a chance at success because this one did, so 20 years from now, when my twelfth novel hits the shelves, you can say you helped get that one published too. You wouldn’t be wrong.

Remember: whoever refers the most people to order a copy of Tantalus Depths by the end of its campaign will be immortalized by having a planet named after them. So get out there and bring as many family members and friends as you can to help bring us to our goal.

If just half the people who have already ordered copies of Tantalus Depths were to get just one friend each to do the same, we’d hit our goal instantly. As always, this story can only be told with your help.

20 days left. 164 orders still needed. Let’s do this together.

Kelsey Rae Barthel liked an update for These are my Friends on Politics

Hey everyone. Friendly helpful PSA time.

I ordered a physical book but was just told my ebook is ready to download. What happened?

Don’t worry. If you backed These Are My Friends on Politics, you’ll either have received or soon will receive an email informing you your ebook download is ready. That’s not a goof — every physical book comes with a complimentary ebook version you can load onto your preferred e-reader of choice. So you’re getting that right now while the physical books are being prepared for shipment. If you ordered a physical book (or three, or ten), that package will be heading your way before long. This is just a pre-order bonus.

Sounds good. So what’s a .mobi file?

If your experience with getting ebooks comes from buying them straight from Amazon’s or Apple’s store, you might be a little thrown by seeing two different formats presented for your consumption. The download page has all the instructions you’ll need, but here’s a bonus quick cheat sheet.

ePub version: This is the .mp3 of ebooks, and it works on anything not called a Kindle. So if you’re using iBooks for iOS/Mac, Google Books for Android, or a Sony Reader/Nook/Kobo/basically any e-reader ever made that isn’t a Kindle, this is the format for you.

Kindle (.mobi) version: This one is for anyone using a tablet made by Amazon -- be it a Kindle Fire, the regular monochrome Kindles (Paperwhite, whatever weird name that new one is called) or anything else that has the word "Kindle" stamped on it. It also will display nicely on the Kindle desktop app for PC and Mac. The one place it won’t load: the Kindle app for iOS, which uses a different file format that’s laden with DRM and requires purchase through Amazon’s own store to display books properly. Fortunately, if you’re an iOS person, the ePub version plays perfectly with iBooks.

So should I read this ebook now or wait for the physical book if I ordered one of those?

Honestly? If I’m being candid, I’d wait, because I think the physical book is the best experience. I love ebooks, but I don’t think heavily-illustrated books are best served by that format. I also hope this is the kind of book people open up and enjoy together, which is something the physical book better allows to happen. It’s up to you, of course, but if you’re waiting on a physical book and choose to ignore the email about the ebook as result, you’ll get no argument from me.

Kelsey Rae Barthel liked an update for The Last Faoii

      Orders, Faoii! Listen up!

October 1st is this Saturday. That means that the drawing for the $100 Visa is in just a few days. Tell you friends, your family, random literate acquaintances--  we need every soldier capable of lifting a sword on this field! The contest is drawing to a close and we’re only in 6th place. I need you to spread the word.

Saturday also means that the syndicates on Inkshares are beginning to look for nominations for their October picks. This is the last syndicate pick to fall within the G&S contest’s timeline-- so any help we receive will help boost us to that top three placement that I swear on my blade we WILL reach.

The Last Faoii has already been nominated in the Epic Fantasy Syndicate and the Write Out Loud Syndicate. I would be proud to display either of these medals on our wall. So, if you’re in one of these syndicates (or any syndicate you think The Last Faoii may have a place in), make sure you add your voice to our choir. You are faoii. Your word will bring more soldiers to our banner. And the more unique voices that sound their battle cry, the more legitimacy our campaign has. A quick recommendation or nomination, on Inkshares, facebook, twitter, instagram, blade-blasted smoke signals if that’s what it takes, but something-- those are your orders for this week. Do not fail me, Faoii.

Get out there and show people what w’ere made of. Shields up!
      -Faoii-Tahani

Kelsey Rae Barthel liked an update for And the Wolf Shall Dwell

        Hi All,

Long time! Many of you were wondering when the book is out, and I have been getting a lot of queries regarding. Well, the truth is that I don’t really know. Inkshares has been going through a lot of managerial changes, and structure reforms, and at the moment this means that the Wolf’s publication date is pushed back sadly only to mid next year.

On my end, I have submitted the manuscript as required, and armed with patience I’m waiting for the girls in the production department (Avalon and Angela) to assign me an editor and get the ball rolling. So keep being patient -Inkshares is doing their best in these hectic times for the company, and we can just wish them luck and stay put!

On a different note, as part of the management changes - Inkshares decided that a lot of recurring credit orders have caused the company financial harm and are thus cancelling them across the board. Sadly, as everything in life that is done on a massive scale (this is across the website and not just to this project) - more than a few cash orders have been effected too - I’ve got numerous queries for credit cards being refunded.
I understand this is frustrating to some of you but Thad the company’s CPO and co founder explained to me personally this is vital for Inkshares’ sustainability.

Do me a favour, though the campaign is long over, and this won’t effect the production of the book, if you got a refunded order please either email me or inkshares or simply get in to your account to make sure your order is still alive.

Meanwhile, hold on patiently and keep recommending the book to your friends. THANKS!
