Fernando Crôtte liked an update for Fae Child

Dear Supporters,

We now have a set of pictures - here is a look at Foster, the young elf boy who has accidentally brought Abbie through into the Otherworld.

Preorders have stalled out, with zero orders for the last week and a half, leaving us still with just 77 books ordered. I have been continuing to work on the book, taking November (as Nanowrimo) not to write 50,000 words, but to set a new writing schedule by getting up earlier every day so I have some quiet time alone with my keyboard. So far, so good!

I know I have a great story on my hands, and I want you to be able to read it. Please get the word out to your friends, or relatives. There are less than two months left in the preorder campaign.

Thank you for your support!

Fernando Crôtte liked an update for Sorcery for Beginners

    Friends, Readers, and Sorcerers All,

Big news today. SORCERY FOR BEGINNERS has been chosen as the November selection for Gary Whitta’s Nomad Syndicate. Yes, THAT Gary Whitta! Writer of The Book of Eli, After Earth, and this little unseen, indie gem:

I won’t lie, my heart is beating like a scruffy-lookin’ Nerf herder right now. It’s been a pretty awesome six weeks since we started this campaign, and we’re not done yet. You can still pre-order SORCERY FOR BEGINNERS, get a signed copy, and an extra-special "early adopter" prize which we’ll be unveiling soon. But you have to purchase before January 1. Tell your friends, tweet it from the mountain tops, and pick up a copy if you haven’t already! Darth Vader will thank you.

May the Force be with you all --

I am atwitter with excitement to be sharing the new cover of Overture!  In keeping with the crowdsourcing/crowdfunding tradition, I headed on out to designcrowd.com and ran a challenge for a new cover design.  The winner is this beautiful piece from freelance artist Diana Buidoso.  It captures the feel of the book so well, and I’m over the moon.  Thank you Diana and Designcrowd!

Fernando Crôtte liked an update for The Last Faoii

          Greetings, Faoii!

This is a short update, but I figured I’d let you know what’s been going on since the end of the Geek and Sundry contest.

The biggest thing is that I finished going back through The Last Faoii again. This was the 19th and final full-edit before the campaign’s end, and I can’t really explain how amazing it was to get to the last page one more time. That night was composed of equal parts laughing and crying as I realized it was done. I must have looked crazy to my husband, but I don’t know what anyone expected. The emotions associated with completing a project that has been your main conquest for years... it’s indescribable.

For those that were curious, the final word count ended at 97,129 words. All told, more than 23,000 words were cut from the manuscript in order to make it perfect, and I do not regret having lost any of them. It’s so much cleaner than it was. Every word has a purpose; every description necessary. Acres of wordy and dry exposition fell before my scythe-- all things I’d originally thought were absolutely essential to the story. So I’d like to thank my betas again for helping me realize that less is actually more.

We’ve been sitting at 284 pre-orders for several days now. Which is fine, but if you want me to post the audio recording of Chapter 4 then I need that last pre-order. Pick up your blade if you haven’t already-- there’s only a few days left before the campaign ends.

A few of you have asked me if I’m up for any syndicate picks for this last month. The easy answer is currently "no," but things can change. We were tied for first place in one last month, but weren’t even nominated for it this month. Don’t fret, however. It makes sense to give the syndicate picks to those that need the extra boost to reach their crowdfunding goals. As much as I would love to see another badge or two on our wall, it is not essential. We’ve already proved that we are worthy of publication.

I think that’s it for now. If we get another pre-order I’ll put up the Chapter 4 audio. Remind your friends that the campaign is ending and this is their chance.

I hope your own battles are going well, faoii. Shield up!

Fernando Crôtte liked an update for Witherfist

Hello, all! Hope you’re having a fantastic weekend. It’s a gloomy Saturday here in the north of England - fantastic weather for getting stuck into a bit of writing! So far today, I’ve made just over 3,000 words of progress on Witherfist today, and will be looking to do the same tomorrow.

In terms of preorder stats, there isn’t much to update you on. Since the end of the contest, the number of new readers joining the campaign has been relatively small. Currently, it’s sitting at 195 copies ordered.

There are now a whopping 241 of you following the book. To anyone who has yet to purchase their copy, please take a look at the sample chapters and consider making your preorder today. If you’re already ordered, I would be incredibly grateful if you could share your interest with this book with one of your friends or family members. We need to reach 250 preorders by December 31st to ensure that this book is published.

I know that we can do this. Thanks for your support,

            ~ Jenny

Fernando Crôtte liked an update for The Seventh Age: Dawn

              Greetings!

Just a quick update today. I hope everyone had a fantastic Halloween and engaged in the acquisition of wine and treats! I couldn’t post it last week, so, even if it’s a bit late... here is an article I wrote for Geek & Sundry about Legends of Halloween.

As for me, activities over the past week netted me this picture: (Painting by Eric Vernor)

              As for Seventh Age news:

              • Today we are hosting The Second City Shuffle, a one-night Live Action game set in the world of the Seventh Age. I’ll be posting pictures in the next update.
              • We’ve got all our early blurbs and endorsements in, and the cover is being finalized. Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to read this early! I’m saving the actual quotes until we get closer to launch date.
              • NanoWrimo is underway, and I’m working on the creation of a cyberpunk world for a game. It’s pretty damn neat!
              • My sequel, Seventh Age: Dystopia is fully outlined with scene by scene, chapter, and character guides. I’m applying new techniques that I learned over the course of writing the first book!

Alright. That’s it! I’m off to go be a massive geek and roleplay Patrick O’Neil for a night!

Fernando Crôtte liked an update for Sync City

                Greetings Jackolytes,

Sync City continues to wend its way through the editorial process, and the spotlight of reality is becoming brighter and brighter. I just went through the proofread copy of the manuscript, and it’s looking squeaky clean. Next it’s off to the cold reader who checks for any glaring errors that may have been missed.

In the not too distant future, Jack and his ride are going to head off and get printed. If you want a first edition paperback copy, then time is running out. Follow this link and hit the pre-order button if you want to snare your chunk of Sync City history! You’ll be glad you did.

                Cheers,

                Peter

                  100 followers and 85 pre-orders as of 12pm today!

Just wanted to extend another quick note of hearty thanks! PHANTOM is now in the Top 3 books of the Launchpad Competition, but it needs to stay there in order to win! Please recommend, forward to friends who might enjoy it, and continue boosting the signal, even if you’ve already placed your order! I’m so appreciative of all the love and can’t wait to get this story out into the world.

Fernando Crôtte liked an update for The Fairy Stepmother, Inc.

                    To my dear, lovely readers:

Whew! The Geek and Sundry Contest is over, and out of 406 entries, we ended up in 4th place. We may not have won one of the big prizes, but that’s still pretty darn impressive, I think. Since we reached Quill, The Fairy Stepmother, Inc. is definitely going to be published! I’m now setting to work on finishing a complete draft, editing, and designing a cover. I’ll give a few updates as I go, but don’t worry--your days of hearing me plead for orders are done! My funding drive officially ends today, so if you wanted to snag a signed copy, now’s the time to order.

This has been an absolutely amazing experience. This is my first novel and my first attempt to publish anything, and I’ve been floored by the amount of support and positive reviews I’ve received. So thank you, to every one of you! I look forward to sending you my book!

The Inkshares community is really wonderful--many of my fellow authors have plugged my work and given me great feedback. There are so many great books on this website waiting to be discovered. A few of my friends are still trying to fund their books, and if you’re so inclined, I’d absolutely recommend you check them out!

                    Witherfist, by Jenny Graham-Jones

Murder at the Veteran’s Club, by Christopher Huang

A Beast Requires, by Jay Lockwood

Raven and Bone by Allison C. Waechter

Unfortunately, this computer doesn’t want to linkify anything. Luckily, Inkshares’ search engine is lickety-split.

                    Thank you so much!

May you live happily ever after!
