Robert Batten liked an update for Kill Creek

Followers of Kill Creek!

Wanted to give you a quick update...

I’m now 45 days into my 90 day pre-order period, and thanks to some generous orders today, I’ve reached 50% of my Quill goal!  Thanks to everyone who has pre-ordered.  Your support means a lot.  I still have 45 days to reach 250 pre-orders and ensure that Kill Creek gets published, but with the holidays coming up, that time is going to go quickly.  So if you know anyone who might enjoy a get-under-your-skin, sh*t-hits-the-fan, character-driven, hatchet-to-the-mouth, Kansas-set ghost story, please encourage them to pre-order a copy before my time is up!

Also if you’d like a little more info about the genesis of Kill Creek and/or a photo of me looking like The Edge from U2, check out this article: http://www.kansan.com/arts_and_culture/alumnus-aims-to-publish-horror-novel-through-crowdfunding/article_5f341010-b85b-11e6-8ee6-f78ca44d4f2f.html

Thanks again and Happy Holidays!

Robert Batten liked an update for Sorcery for Beginners

    Friends, Readers, and Sorcerers All,

Two updates this week. First, we broke 300 copies sold! Y’all got me like:

Second, SORCERY FOR BEGINNERS has been sent to our editor at Inkshares! It is very official and awesome. We’re talking about cover designs and illustrations and other cool stuff. I am very excited to get the editor’s notes and dive into the final re-write in January.

Also, we are super-close to hitting number 3 on The List. Only 19 unique orders left to go. Do you know any friends with 10 year-old kids? People who like reading about magic? Breathing human beings who believe in goodness and light? Share the link to our project and see if they’d like to pick up a pre-order. It’s only $10. That’s less than a movie, and they’ll actually be making dreams come true.

Thanks again for all your support -

Robert Batten liked an update for Black Cloud

"I’m trying to imagine the thought process that begins with I need to pick up a few things from the store and ends with I should probably stop in the bathroom real quick and snort a shit ton of oxycodone. Maybe if we can wake this gentleman up I can make some inquiries but right now his respiratory drive has gone night night. Which is just a fancy way of saying his body gives no fucks about breathing. That’s why Tommy is on his knees in the pharmacy section of Publix bagging this dude... "

... that is an excerpt from Don’t Stop Believing. Or Breathing a new chapter from Black Cloud.

Hey Everybody! I know it’s been a long time since I sent an update. My bad. I kind of put this project on hold for a while because my life outside of writing got really busy. I do have a new job and a new tiny human to show for it though, so I wasn’t slacking.

Some of you may know that Black Cloud made the top 5% of the Scott Free Launchpad competition. That means I didn’t make it into the Inkshares contest but did make the top 100. That is a very encouraging start for a book still in its infancy.

If you have a few minutes please check out the new chapter. It’s a quick read and I’m sure it will amuse you at least a little bit. Especially if you’re a fan of Journey’s rock classic, "Don’t Stop Believing."

If you have a few moments please share this project on Inkshares, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, or wherever it is that you share things. I plan to wait until after the new year to launch but as most of you know, building a following before launch is critical. If you can help out that would be the coolest. You’d be the coolest.

Thank you folks for the early support. Oh and here’s a gross amusing video of me being tortured on behalf of this book.

Been having a blast traveling all over doing book signings and events for RUNE! The support from readers, friends, family, and random awesome people have been so wonderful! HUGE shout out to Alex Benton, Rick Heinz, Peter Parcell, Dana Kingsbury, and Chris Stone for hosting me! You guys rock! THANK YOU!

        2. Reviews!

RUNE needs your stars! So far we have 24 reviews and we need 100 for Amazon’s magic algorithms to kick in. I’ve been told that when we get 100, RUNE will get bumped up to the next level of Amazon promotion which is hugely important! So, PLEASE log in and add your review HERE. I know it’s a pain, but even just your stars are truly impactful!

As you can see above, RUNE has an awesome average of 4.7 stars on Amazon. Again, we have 24 reviews but need 100 which means that we NEED NEED NEED your stars! Even if writing reviews online is not your thing, at least just add stars by 1) going HERE, 2) clicking the "Write a customer review" button, and 3) adding stars. This should take you only a minute but has a huge impact. We are a quarter of the way to the important "100 reviews" mark, so please, please, please add yours today!

        3. Audiobook

OK, this is so awesome! I’ve been listening to the audiobook and am in love with how it came out! Our narrator, Kevin T. Collins, has done a truly wonderful job and I could not be more pleased! I HIGHLY recommend folks go check out a sample HERE. And better yet, you can get it FREE if this is your first Amazon Audiobook!

Hearing my words recounted in such a stunning way is such a surreal experience, and I know you will enjoy it, too! Seriously, go listen to the sample! Additionally, the story and voice seems to be resonating well with other listeners, too, because currently the audiobook’s Amazon Best Sellers Rank is:

#130 in Books >;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; Audible Audiobooks >;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; Science Fiction >;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; Adventure
#211 in Books >;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; Audible Audiobooks >;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; Fantasy >;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; Epic

Pretty good rankings, eh? Kevin T. Collins has different voices for each character and reads elegantly, matching the flow and cadence of the story perfectly. But don’t take my word for it, go check out the sample and remember you can get the audiobook for FREE if it’s your first Amazon Audiobook! Yay!

        4. She-Fi Video Interview

Another really cool thing: very excited to share a video interview with Aimee Dansereau and Sarah Cooke of She-Fi. They both really enjoyed the book and it was a blast speaking with them about some of the deeper aspects behind/within the story and characters. Their blog/vlog is dedicated to their love of "all things nerdy" and it was an honor that RUNE received such high praise from them.

Below is their review and click HERE to watch the interview.

“Rune of the Apprentice” is a fantasy and science-fiction adventure ride through a rich world of runes, magic, technology, stunning natural settings, beautifully eclectic and diverse cultures and people all set during a time of war and political upheaval. The characters are sympathetic and compelling. Jamison Stone has put a lot of imagination, passion, and detail into telling this story, and we can’t wait to read his future novels." --She-Fi Review

        5. Military Family Charities

Just wanted to give a quick update on this. Several months ago, Inkshares switched over to a quarterly royalty payment system which means that I have not yet been paid for all of the RUNE pre-order royalties. When I do, however, I will make a dedicated blog post with a breakdown and then submit the actual donations themselves. How exciting! Thank you all!

“Rune of the Apprentice” is so much more than just about a runaway apprentice. It is a story about destiny, magic, pirates, and spaceships! This world that the author has created leaps off the pages and drags you into a magic world... Gods, magic, and more await the reader! The characters were great. Each had their own voices and had great depth. “Rune of the Apprentice” ends on a killer cliffhanger, so be warned!! I really can’t wait for the next one!" --Night Owl Reviews

p.s. And remember, PLEASE write a review today (or at least add stars) on Amazon! We need 100 reviews and are a quarter of the way there! THANK YOU!

Robert Batten liked an update for The Walls are Closing In

Thank you to everyone who has followed The Walls are Closing In.

The book just hit 50 followers, and has been on the site for less than one week!

As a thank you, I will be providing a randomly-selected follower with a $50 Etsy Gift Card once The Walls are Closing In reaches 100 followers!

My hope is to launch my Pre-Order campaign in January, and the manuscript is complete and ready to go.

Don’t worry first 50 followers, you will automatically be entered into the drawing. Recipient will be chosen using a random generator. If you have someone who you think would be interested in The Walls are Closing In, please encourage them to follow!

Though I know winning fifty dollars to spend on unique hand-made holiday gifts is tempting, please only follow if you are actually interested in the book ;)

Thank you again for your overwhelming support.

Robert Batten liked an update for Devil’s Call

            Hello, friend!

As you know, Devil’s Call was chosen for Inkshares’ 2016 The List, which is a contest to see which of the site’s top-rated but as-yet unpublished manuscripts will get the full publication treatment.

Devil’s Call has been parked at 9th place since the contest began, which is nothing to sneeze at. In order to win the contest, we need to sell the most unique preorders between now and December 31st.

I personally will be content if we sell another 116 preorders, which will put us at a nice round 250. So my humble request to you:

If you already preordered your copy, I appreciate you. There’s a Recommend button on Devil’s Call’s page that will generate a code for you to share with your friends on Facebook or Twitter, if you haven’t already.

If you’re on the fence about preordering, I’ve uploaded the revised first chapter. This is the chapter that will be going to my editor and coming back with line notes, but it already looks immensely better than it did six months ago. Your preorder will help ensure this novel looks and sounds the best it can when it hits shelves next year.

And, since I have a reputation to uphold, here is an appropriate gif to wrap things up.

            Happy Tuesday!

Robert Batten liked an update for THE LOVING WRATH OF ELDON QUINT

              Dear Friends and Readers,

Thank you all for being a part of the journey to get The Loving Wrath of Eldon Quint published. Here’s an update on where we stand today.

The novel made it all the way to the Top Ten, from a selection of thousands, in the Launch Pad Manuscript competition. Unfortunately, we weren’t selected as an overall winner. But that doesn’t mean we can’t win (and get published!).

The top 3 books with the most unique preorders by noon PST on Friday, December 16th, will be published by Inkshares.

Currently, we stand at #5 on the leader board. We’re only about 50 orders shy of the coveted 3rd place spot.

We have 10 days left. I’m confident we can do it. Most of you have ordered the book already, but if you haven’t, now is the time.

And finally, I am awed and incredibly thankful to everyone for their support and $$. I’m working hard to deliver a great read.

              Much Love,

              Chase
