Tony Valdez liked an update for The Traveller’s Cup

Happy Sunday, Space Crew!

I know the weekend’s gone too fast, but thankfully you get to conclude it with hearing from me.

I don’t have a lot of news, but these weekly updates are my way of staying connected to you as we continue our journey through space and time toward the impending September deadline.

I Need to Get the Word Out.
This book has gotten a lot of attention in various circles I know or am a part of, and that is fantastic. I’m indebted for all of your support. But unless all of you want to order 10 copies each, we’ve got to get word of this book outside our current Crew.

If you know of any podcasts, blogs, social platforms, or other networking opportunities that might want to spend some time talking to me or about The Traveller’s Cup, please help connect us. You will be rewarded with a special author’s note inside your copy of the book, and will go down in history as one of our top space recruiters.

Yes, Your Theme Song is Coming
I’ve been throwing ideas around for awhile, and since we only have 22 orders to go before I officially owe it to you, I’m settling down on something I think is pretty cool. Sample coming soon.

Meanwhile you can contribute to my motivation by helping me nab those last 22 orders. Please keep recommending this book and spreading the word to your friends.

Your Friendly Neighbourhood Space Captain,
-AC

Tony Valdez liked an update for Murder at the Veterans’ Club

    Dear friends and followers,

If you’ve been following my blog, you’ll know that I spent the past week catching the shows at the Montreal Fringe Festival, and reviewing them. I’ve been lucky this year in having picked some very strong performances; even the worst among my picks was merely "okay".

So I haven’t really been focussing on the pre-order sales for "Murder at the Veterans’ Club", and, to be honest, I think it may be time to sit back a bit, regather my energy, and reconsider my approach. Also, I need to finish that short story for "Too Many Controllers".

For now, let’s have another look at the Veterans’ Club officers. This time, Edward Garrett:

And meanwhile! What’s happening on the Inkshares bookshelves? Let’s take a look at a couple more books in the Nerdist contest:

    1) "Destiny Imperfect", by Peter Ryan. I think I said something similar back when I talked about Ryan’s other book, "Sync City", but Ryan has a great "voice". He does "angry dystopia" really well, and a good voice is 75% of a book’s quality. "Destiny Imperfect", which appears to be a parallel-world "who’s really in control?" deal, is no exception.

    2) "SideScroller", by Andrew Fantasia. Swashbuckling adventure/romance, it says, and who doesn’t love a bit of that in their lives? The story progresses on video game rules: when we get a peek at one character’s ID card, it looks more like an RPG character sheet than any sort of real-world ID. It’s a sort of "meta" sensibility that would appeal to anyone familiar with video game mores.

And that’s it for this week. Until next week: have fun, and keep reading.

Tony Valdez liked an update for An Unattractive Vampire

So hey, guys. How was your week?

Mine? Oh you know, it was...okay. I did some stuff. And then some other stuff. Oh and then this happened.

      https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1669756768?book_show_action=true&from_review_page=1

For those of you who did not immediately click on the link and then devolve into frantic happy dances (like I did...at work) here’s the context. Patrick Rothfuss...THE Patrick Rothfuss...best-selling author of the Kingkiller Chronicles READ MY BOOK! And...he liked it! EPIC SWOON!

In other great news this week, we hit our first Amazon milestone of 50 reviews!

What does this mean? It means that An Unattractive Vampire has reached the first Amazon algorithm tier. It might be featured in newsletters or start creepily showing up as a suggestion to people who also bought Interview with a Vampire or a My Little Pony. That sort of thing. Basically, more books in more hands.

So time to just rest on our laurels and do nothing, right?

      WRONG!

There is another...larger goal. At 100 reviews, we activate the second Amazon tier where the book gets even more promotion and I assume some form of giant robot Avatar.

So keep reading! Keep reviewing! Keep telling your friends about this great book (or your enemies about this "great book" *snicker, snicker.*)

      Also...thank you.

Tony Valdez liked an update for Ghosts of War

So it has again been a while between updates, but unlike last time, there has actually been some stuff going on. So I now present a multi part update:

Ghosts of War - I’ve gotten more done in the last 6 weeks or so than I had in the rest of 2016, so that’s a positive. Like, you can use 4 numbers to count the amount of words written. So I seem to be getting out the other side of this giant patch of writer’s block I’ve been in (NaNo did not work out...at all...), which is nice.

I’ve also set a deadline for getting a final draft into Inkshares. Plan is to get that into them by the end of July so that there’s enough time to get this thing into your hands before the end of the year.

Also, Inkshares recently launched their ’properties’ initiative which helps authors sell the rights for their works to people wanting to make TV shows, movies, audiobooks and the like. It’s a rather exciting thing for them to be doing and it’ll be interesting to see if anything comes from it for Ghosts.

LandFall - So this is my fantasy project that I hope to get to working on later this year. I had the idea up on Inkshares a while ago, but have recently bumped it into draft mode so I can put up a sample chapter. Also, while on a break day (read: lazy day), I made a mockup of how I’d love for the final LandFall book to look.

I will be pushing for this to be a 750 copy selling hardcover from the outset, which sounds...daunting...but I won’t be launching the campaign until I know I can get it done. I have some special plans for it.

You can check out LandFall here ---->;;;;;;;; https://www.inkshares.com/books/landfall

CORE - You might be wondering ’What is this CORE you speak of?’

Well that’s a pretty good question actually, and one to which the answer is changing all the time. At it’s core (I’m sorry), it’s the story I threw into the Nerdist video game contest on a whim a couple of weeks ago. It’s a really small nucleus of an idea, which is why I put such a long funding time on it (it currently has 346 days remaining), so that I have time to, y’know, work out the whole story and write the damn thing...lol

And I have been working it out. I’ve got several characters in place, and a beginning and an end that I’m happy with. Now to just work out the pesky middle...the middle is always a problem.

But, since I have to finish Ghosts, and all chances of winning the Nerdist comp vanished almost instantly, the pressure is off a bit on this one for now, however if you want to check it out you can do so here ---->;;;;;;;; https://www.inkshares.com/books/core

Oh and here’s the (very, very) temporary cover for it.

So yeah, that’s the state of things as they are right now. I’ll do my best to not leave it another 3 months before an update.

        Until next time.

Tony Valdez liked an update for The Seventh Age: Dawn

The final manuscript has been approved with Girl Friday Productions!

I even learned what a Flueron is recently.

               *    *    *

I choose the Illuminati Eye triangle... because they area always watching.

Tinfoil hat aside: I’ll be at Wizard World in Chicago August 18th thru 21 with a booth. More details on that coming soon.

I have more art from Lizzy Perez! This one is a bit more laid back, Mike and the crew playing some games after a night of demon hunting

This scene directly ties into an Anthology I am part of with the character Akira. You can learn more about the Too Many Controllers in the current Nerdist contest by clicking right: Here

Lastly, there is one final... final thing: If you are following this book and haven’t dived in yet. Here it is. The last chance to be entered into one of 7 raffles for a demon hunter kits, tarot cards, and artwork. We need... 8 more people!

So call your friends! The Angels are coming! The end is nigh!!!

Tony Valdez liked an update for The Sleeping Man

            Good morning Dreamers!

This is most glorious weekend. As I get ready to move across this great country to San Diego (I’m being stationed on a destroyer out there), I can’t help but compulsively check on my project. There are 214 pre-orders! We are so close to Quill and we’re still beating the projection! Guys, let’s do it. Unfortunately, there’s no way to tell how many orders are left for the Quill goal, so let’s just all order one to be on the safe side. Yeah, it might say you’ve already ordered one, but computers are tricky, so let’s all just dig deep and get juuuuuuuust one more.

Also, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for this amazing ride. We’re almost there.

            Sweet Dreams,

            Stephen

@A.C. Weston Great questions!  Guess I should have put a bit more thought into the original post, that’s what I get for doing things without coffee!

I’m planning to add a paragraph or so at the end of each post, telling readers what I dig about the project and the author and why I think they should support it.

I don’t necessarily need to love every project that will be put on the blog (I just don’t enjoy every genre. I don’t think anyone does).  However, I will be checking project pages and making sure that the authors are serious about what they’re doing.  If I don’t love the story/genre/color of the cover (yes that’s exaggerating to make a point!) I need to know that I can at least put my stamp of approval on the author’s work ethic, powerful dialogue, basic grasp of grammar, etc...

Hit me with more questions if you got them!
