Hello, Everyone!
Today is day 45/90-- the halfway mark for The Last Faoii’s timeline. As of now we still have 73 pre-orders-- about 30% of the way to the Quill Goal of select publishing. And time is running out.
This means several things:
1) I am absolutely SURE that we can make it to the 250 mark. People have been leaving wonderful reviews about The Last Faoii and the pinned excerpt has gotten a lot of great feedback. I’ve also put up 6 chapters (including a favorite scene and introduction to the antagonist’s mind), so there’s a lot there to get people hooked on the world and characters. I’m trying to set up readings and to find people who will help spread the word. So please, please-- if you believe The Last Faoii is worthy of success, let other people know about it. We can reach that Quill goal with just a little bit stronger push (and maybe some luck). Facebook, Twitter, word of mouth-- whatever you got, let’s use it to make this happen. The Last Faoii’s Facebook and Inkshares page both have different images and blurbs to make sharing easy. Find a version you like and spread it to everyone you can.
2) I think we have to admit that the 750 goal is... unlikely. It’s not impossible, but I want to keep things realistic. So right now, our aim is the 250 pre-order select publishing goal. Select publishing--which means that this is your only chance to get a copy. I want to make sure that the people who want one get one, so order your copy if you haven’t. You likely won’t get another chance. And, if it makes a difference, remember that if we don’t get to 250 then no one gets a copy--and I really don’t want to disappoint the people who have shown faith in me.
Time is running out for Kaiya and the Faoii. So let’s make this happen.
Hey, everyone!
It’s a nice lazy weekend here, so I decided to celebrate by putting up the next three chapters of the Last Faoii. I know, I know. I’ve been saying this entire time that I was only going to tease people with the first three, but then I remembered that one of my favorite scenes happens at the end of Chapter 5, and you finally get to truly meet the antagonist in 6. So I’m changing my mind and putting up a few more chapters today. Must be the nice weather getting to me. ;)
In case you didn’t know, chapters 1-3 have been up since I joined inkshares, but if you haven’t read those yet then start there. 4 just went up a little bit ago. 5 and 6 should go up in the next hour or so. Have fun reading!
Love always,
T
Hello, Friends!
I’m sorry that I haven’t really given an update in awhile. I finally realized that I was running myself ragged with this book, and I had to take a break from it (and everything else) for a few days. My health and sanity are now once again intact (or as close to intact as they’ve ever been) and I’m back and ready to build the bridge that leads from here to publication!
I realize now, of course, that at least a few bricks in the bridge are going to have to be public readings (cue scary music). Reading my own book in public terrifies me. Even more than birds terrify me (which is way more than they should). It’s not because I don’t think the book is worthy of being read-- It is able to stand on its own merits-- but because I am not really one to sing the praises of my own work in a face-to-face situation. I don’t ever want to sound... arrogant, so instead I tend to come off as too meek to make an impression. Which probably means that I shouldn’t have used this route to try and get published. 20/20 hindsight, I guess. XD
But, you know what? A lot of things terrify me. And I’ve faced all of them before. I even walk by the bird cages in the pet store now. So why wouldn’t I face this terror when it might help me reach my goal of actually seeing The Last Faoii in the hands of readers like you?
So I’m going to do it. I’m not sure where or how, yet, but I’ll figure it out and I’ll send you another update when I get to that point. Until then, however, I would love LOVE love any advice you all could give me. You’re interested in The Last Faoii-- what would you like to hear at a reading? What questions would you want to ask? Would you like to see a fight scene? A sad one? A funny one? Would you like to meet a bunch of different characters or focus on the backstories of one or two? How long would you expect a reading to go on for?
Was that enough questions? Can you tell I’m new at this? haha.
Take care of yourselves.
Love always,
T
