Brian and Michelle Guthrie liked an update for Lucky

Dear Readers,

THE BIG NEWS: I am participating in a live Google+ Hangout on Saturday, March 26, at 3pm Eastern time (1pm Mountain time). I am excited to be joining Elayna Mae Darcy for a live version of her "Women Slaying Sci-Fi" blog series, along with Inkshares authors AC Weston and Amanda Orneck.

If you’re interested in joining us, follow the event on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/events/611136085710105/

Join us to ask questions about sci-fi, our creative processes, our favorite colors...you get the idea. :)

Still working on editing Chapter 8! I’m hoping to get it up this weekend for your viewing pleasure. However, Raiders of the Lost Ark is showing at my local cinema this weekend so I can’t promise that 1980s action movies won’t get in the way...!

As always, feel free to reach out on Twitter (@RH_Webster) or Facebook (www.facebook.com/RHWebster.ScienceFiction) with any comments, questions, or just to chat.

Have a wonderful weekend! Hope to see you at the hangout!

Brian and Michelle Guthrie liked an update for THE NORTHERN DIVIDE

"Time goes, you say? Ah no! / Alas, Time stays, we go." ~ Henry Austin Dobson  ... Until we return again from the strange and hefty obligations handed to us by life.

    Hello, all:

Upon deciding to renew the campaign for The Northern Divide, I also came to the decision that, though the manuscript has changed slightly since I last updated the project, I will not be noting those changes nor adding any other chapters to the page. Instead, I will create PDF proofs upon request (muhu25@gmail.com) for any who wish to read the latest version of the manuscript. I would also ask that if a proof is requested... Please, kindly add a review of the work to the project page upon completion of pages sent.

I’ve also had an opportunity over the last four months, the end of the last campaign, to think over what I might offer supporters who not only follow along but also pre-order copies. For the Occultist, if you so wish, I will provide a free PDF copy (or notification of access to no cost Kindle edition on Free Book Promotion days) of my self-published poetic work: Dues for the Repose, from Words Much Like Poetry. For those with the capacity to be Wielders, a dedication to one and all in the form of a gothic villanelle lauding your assistance that will be included in the e-book. For those capable of bearing the burden of the Godkind, signed author copies with personal dedications, along with shout outs on my social media channels and personal websites.

"You can do anything as long as you have the passion, the drive, the focus, and the support." ~ Sabrina Bryan ... Here’s to it.

Brian and Michelle Guthrie liked an update for Asteroid Made of Dragons

All at once - the time has come:

I’m ready for it. I’M PREPARED FOR WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY.

Amazon has unlocked the ability to leave reviews for Asteroid Made of Dragons.

You all have the paperback and ebook - I need  you to go leave an honest review. Today, tomorrow - whenever you get done reading. It’s the most important thing you’ve done for me. As crass as it is to say - MORE important than backing the book in the first place.

Reviews on Goodreads are also great!

Even just clicking some stars is a huge help. Text reviews are monumental.

So please - as you finish reading, take a moment to leave a review. I want to know, I need to know - and if the book is going to stand a chance after the first couple of weeks, the world needs to know what you thought of it.

      Other Articles of Note

      • Spell/Sword and The Riddle Box FREE on Kindle 4/5-4/9.
      • I still have download codes for the Audible audiobook of Spell/Sword - basically ask me for one if you want it? I will devise some sort of hoop for you to jump through.
      • LAUNCH PARTY 4/5 Avid Bookshop - Athens, GA - 630p EST. (You all must be there. I’m going to drink too much and make people listen to me. It’s ALL I ever want.)
      • Some upstart by the name of...*checks notes*...Thomas Ferret is taking the leap into getting his novel Pilot X published through Inkshares. I disapprove of this sort of rabble clogging up the halls here, but he’s a radio DJ and you know that medium is dying. Somewhere in the midwest, the Board and Grazer? It’s about farming and cows.  His alleged book is about time travel and I HATE THAT. https://www.inkshares.com/books/pilot-x

You’re going to be hearing a lot from me over the next few weeks. How are you? When are you all going to start calling in the tremendous backlog of favors I owe you?

Brian and Michelle Guthrie liked an update for Deus Hex Machina

        Hail hexers!

Quick update.  We are at 185 orders, inching at a snail’s pace toward Quill, and hopefully, beyond.  No referrals have come in since my last update, but I’m hoping a few of you have an eye on that prize package and are working behind the scenes to build up a referral base to blast away the competition.

But enough about the buying of the book, since you’ve already done that.  This weekend I will be joining some brilliant lady scifi writers from around Inkshares on a live chat!  I would love it if you stopped by and listened to us talk about the state of science fiction and what it means to be a female writer in a male dominated genre.  I might even spill some plot secrets from Deus Hex Machina. You never know.

        Tune in Saturday at 2pm CST/3pm EST : https://www.facebook.com/events/611136085710105/

And feel free to share this with your friends.

I’m never comfortable on camera, but I am comfortable talking about things I am passionate about. Which will win out, the passion or the awkwardness?  You’ll have to watch to find out!

Brian and Michelle Guthrie liked an update for A God in the Shed

          Campaigning is hard.

Either you’re spending all your time working to find new backers or you’re worrying non-stop about not knowing where to look for new backers. I’m currently in later. One thing that is consistent however is the constant stress.

That being said, sometimes you get to do some fun things. Last week I was interviewed by the always charming Alicia Smock of Examiner.com about A God in the Shed. Being able to chat about the project with someone asking interesting questions about the book and story has reignited the fire of working on this story more than anything in recent memory. Check out the article for yourself. There’s some fun revelations about where I come up with some things and why I made some of the decisions for the story.

As always, if you know someone who might be interested in A God in the Shed, sit them down, look them straight in the eyes. Stare them down like you’re trying to see the color of their very soul. Look at them until they stop giggling and asking you what this is all about and instead start getting nervous. Then, tell them about how awesome supporting fantasy-horror books from independent publishers is and how A God in the Shed deserves their support.

Before I leave you, allow me to recommend a few books from friends on Inkshares:

          • A.C. Baldwin’s ’The Traveler’s Cup’
          • Tom Merrit’s ’Pilot X’
          • Christopher Huang’s ’Murder at the Veteran’s Club’

Thanks for supporting me and other independent writers.

Brian and Michelle Guthrie liked an update for The Life Engineered

            Greetings again dear sentients!

This week I want to talk to you guys about books. Obviously I want to slip in a quick reminder to go review The Life Engineered on Amazon and Goodreads and also to pre-order A God in the Shed (my next book on Inkshares should it fund), but I mostly want to point you to the books of three friends and acquaintances that I think you should look at.

Since you’re into Science Fiction, obviously, I want to first point you to my friend A.C. Baldwin’s currently funding project; The Traveller’s Cup. A.C. (Amanda) is a skilled and hard working writer with a vivid imagination framed by a solid logical outlook. A perfect combination for a Science Fiction author and it shows in her work.

Another Science Fiction project that deserves your attention, especially if you’re into having your mind blown by outlandish ideas that challenge how you see the future, is Pilot X by Tom Merritt. Tom tackles the often misused trope of Time Travel in this broadly imaginative and well thought out book about civilization living with time travel as a matter of fact. True to form, it is a very analytical and in depth exploration of the themes and their impact on society.

Finally, a few people have compared The Life Engineered to a murder mystery of sorts. However, if you want a true murder mystery I highly recommend Christopher Huang’s Murder at the Veteran’s Club. Christopher is an incredibly talented writer that has a classic voice to his prose fitting of the time period and themes of his book.

Check out these three books and please, browse around the Inkshares catalogue. There’s a lot of great work in there and the selection is growing daily.

            Cheers,
            JF

Brian and Michelle Guthrie liked an update for The Madness of Mr. Butler

First and foremost, congratulations to Christopher Leone for getting the nod from Nerdist. We are all looking forward to "Champions of the Third Planet." Well done, sir.

Now that all of the intensity of the contest is out of the way, I just wanted to give you, my dear readers, a few little updates. And, of course, thank you once again...your support is the very reason I have the honor of being published.

Speaking of which, I know you are all probably curious as to when Mr. Butler will actually be published. That’s a tricky question, as there is still a lot to do. As I am honored with Inkshares’ full publication treatment, Mr. Butler will be going through full editing, design, marketing, and publishing services, and all of this takes some time. When I was in the competition I was blocked from buying my own book (rightfully so!), but now that it’s over, I bought a few copies to give away, donate to the local libraries, and give as gifts. Upon buying these copies, my receipt stated a tentative publication date of September 3rd, so, take from that what you will. It all hinges on when I submit my final manuscript and how much editing said manuscript must endure. I will update you on the progress the entire way.

Also, on a similar subject, now that the funding/contest period is over, the prices for Mr. Butler have dropped. Why? Because the initial funding period is the most essential to creating everything that has happened thus far with my novel, and all of those initial purchases laid the foundation upon which the rest of Mr. Butler’s success will be built. I have a dashboard with contact info for all of you who gave in the initial funding period, and you are always going to be there in that separate list. You are the loves of my writing life. If you bought a physical copy, you will get the only signed copies without approaching me in person. Thank you. I will be writing you all personal messages apart from everyone else...but don’t worry, not TOO often...

The price decrease is also good news! If you have been hesitating or have known a friend who has been hesitating because of the cost, well, now the e-books are only $7.99 and the paperbacks are only $13.99! So please still spread the word about Mr. Butler...he is more affordable than ever!

In other writing news, I have signed on an official beta reader and initial editor, so that will make everything all the more pleasantly efficient. I might be looking for others in the future, and if this is something that interests you, don’t hesitate to ask. I warn you in advance, the job pays a hearty nothing...

And in my final piece of exciting writing news, my new position as staff writer for Renderosity Magazine has officially begun with an interview with the editor. You can read the article by clicking here. The article describes what my position entails at the magazine, and as you will read, much of it will deal with how to approach storytelling. I intend to make the articles of interest to everyone...not just writers. We are all storytellers in some form or another, even if it is just in dreams. So, please, if you have any ideas or want to reach out in that regard, do not be afraid to email me at madmrbutler@gmail.com.

You can also email me if you just are looking for something cool to do.

Everything is exciting right now, and I thank each and every one of you for your support.

But the race is not over. Please spread the word to everyone you can...Mr. Butler is counting on you!

              Love is all you need.

              -Michael
