Tony Valdez liked an update for Are You Sure You Want to Quit?

Hello everyone!!

Can you believe that there are only 11 days left in the Nerdist contest?! I definitely can’t. Well, I am currently sitting in 2nd place and so if you could tell your friends, family, whoever to pre-order a copy that would be awesome! Also, if you haven’t pre-ordered a copy but have been following my project now would be a great time to do so! For those who do pre-order a copy, you will be receiving a FREE short story (yes free!). We are 18 pre-orders away from unlocking the 6th piece of the painting as well :)

As a hardcore gamer girl, winning this contest would mean everything to me and I hope you believe in this project as much as I do. Yes yes, I’m still pursuing my microbiology PhD, but my passion for writing has always been there and I’m more determined than ever to get my first novel published.

Anyways, Happy 4th, stay safe, enjoy the festivities, and don’t forget about your pets!! ^_^

Best,

Alisa-chan アリサちゃん

Tony Valdez liked an update for Squids In

Good Morning All and Happy 4th July to all of my ’merican friends...

The Nerdist video-game contest has officially entered its closing stages. With only 11 days to go, now is the time to get your pre-orders in both for SQUIDS IN and any of the other awesome books in the competition.

Experience has shown that the final few weeks of an Inkshares contest can produce massive fluctuations on the leaderboard. I just hope that SQUIDS IN, which is currently in 4th place, will either maintain this position and be the first of the losers or see a massive run of orders over the next few days and take the fight to those infront!

I consulted the oracle and he predicted good things for my silly little book!

SQUIDS IN was mentioned on this weeks WriteBrain podcast along with a few other books from the top ten so go check out what JF Dubeau and Mr. Murloc have to say about the concept and my campaign page (Note: Yes I know Octopuses and Squids are different types of Cephalopods. Is just that octopuses are cooler but "Squids In" sounds like "Quids In" which is a slang British term for winning a lot of money. Obviously this pun doesn’t translate very well.

I am also happy to say that the first raffle winner Thomas J. Arnold has shared a photo of his prize octopus playing Fallout.

I know that these Inkshares contests get a lot of visibility on the site and that frankly disrupts the normal operation of the platform for those of you who are trying to fund a different type of book at the same time. Well I just wanted to highlight three books that are funding right now and do not appear in the Nerdist contest for the simple fact that they are great books.

    Mission 51 by Ferd Crotte - https://www.inkshares.com/books/mission-51
Murder at the Veterans Club by Christopher Huang - https://www.inkshares.com/books/murder-at-the-veterans-club
    I Am Waltz by Matthew D. Dho - https://www.inkshares.com/books/i-am-waltz

I think that is all for now. If I think of anything else, I’ll be sure to send you a note about it.

PRE-ORDER SQUIDS IN NOW AND WIN A FREE OCTOPUS STICKER!

Tony Valdez liked an update for Ageless

Happy early 4th of July to all of my fellow Americans and non-Americans, I hope you have a great day too!

Quick update - You may be interested in following a new idea that I have placed here on Inkshares. Here’s the extremely short pitch:

Follow the life of Eugene Trickens, a survivor of WWII genetic experimentation with a secret, in this indirect sequel to AGELESS.

That’s right, I am in the planning stages for TIMELESS, a sequel to AGELESS! The plan (currently very, very rough) is you will see a lot of characters again in some capacity and dive deeper into some of the mysteries of the first book! I want to stress, this is not a direct sequel and we won’t pick up where the last book left us but don’t worry...possibly someday...whoops, I’ve said too much!

Also, we are less than two weeks from the end of the Nerdist Video Game Contest, and it’s time to jump in feet first and support TOO MANY CONTROLLERS! For those that have, I say thank you! If you haven’t, (and I’m looking at YOU James M. and a few others too) NOW is the time. We still need you! I still need you.

Lastly, if you have some time to listen, I had to pleasure of sitting down with Elan Samuel of The Warbler Books for a great interview (there are heavy AGELESS spoilers)!

And we can’t forget THE ROAD TO 100 REVIEWS on Amazon! Please leave a review if you can!

Have a safe, happy holiday and thanks for everything!

Tony Valdez liked an update for The Catcher’s Trap

        Dear friends

I’m writing to you from beautiful but, currently, cold Chile. Unfortunately, I had to travel here responding to an unexpected family emergency, but even when dealing with difficult times, visiting my country and my family is a blessing.

We are four months away from the release of The Catcher’s Trap and Inkshares has officially started the marketing efforts to promote the book. The Catcher has been pitched to media outlets, a couple of interviews have been scheduled, and the release party is being planned. All exciting news. Even more exciting, the fact that this is only the beginning.

As for the first official The Catcher’s Trap event, if you are in the mood for meeting a hard-working new author, come and meet me at the CT HorrorFest on August 27th, at The Matrix Conference Center in Danbury, CT. I will be there sharing advance copies of the book and paving the road for an epic release on November 8th.

        More info here.

Finally, don’t forget I’m participating in the current Nerdist Contest as part of an amazing anthology with 14 other, talented and creative authors. Check out our project and get your copy of this collection of short stories.

        Too Many Controllers

        Have a fantastic weekend.

Tony Valdez liked an update for Murder at the Veterans’ Club

          Dear friends and followers,

Two days ago, we celebrated Canada; tomorrow, we celebrate the U.S.; and yesterday, we hit 375 orders, the exact halfway mark to the full-funding goal. It is perhaps of somewhat less national significance than the other two, but it is certainly of great significance to me. So I thank each and every one of you who have contributed so far. Thank you for bringing me as far as you have.

And we have news. As hinted in the previous update, we have an Interactive Fiction game to go with our novel: "Mustard, Music, and Murder", in which you may step into the shoes of Eric Peterkin to solve the murder of an elderly investment broker....

It is also July, which, quite aside from holidays of national importance, means it’s time to hand in a cheque to our friends at Chez Doris. I was unable to do so on the 1st, as the offices were closed for Canada Day, but I will be handing this over tomorrow morning:

My ongoing introduction of the various characters in "Murder at the Veterans’ Club" seems almost like an afterthought, now. Nevertheless, here is Jacob Bradshaw, the club secretary.

And that’s enough news for the moment, I think! Until next week, have fun, and keep reading!

Tony Valdez sent an update for Dax Harrison

Are you there Inkshares? It’s me, Tony.

What’s this? A prideful look with my morning coffee and unapologetic insane morning hair? What could this mean? It means that after an obscenely long journey, I have handed in my manuscript to Inkshares. That’s it. It’s done. No more tinkering. No more hemming and hawing. Save for any grammatical errors the team finds during copy editing, the book is exactly what it will be when it reaches your hands in the hopefully nearish future.

I know what you’re thinking. WHEN, TONY?! WHEN?! I don’t have an answer at this moment, but I should very soon. The Inkshares team will post a Production Status timeline on the Dax Harrison book page with estimated dates. With Inkshares’s booming growth, they have a LOT of books in various stages of production. Which is great news! But hopefully that doesn’t mean any major delays for Dax. We shall see.

This has been one long strange trip for me. A challenge, a huge learning experience, crazy rewarding and crazy humbling. I can’t thank you all enough for your patience and support. I think I’ve probably said that in every update, but it is absolutely true. There will be a Thank You section in the back of the book listing all the contributors who bought multiple copies during the funding campaign. If I could though, I’d list every single person who helped make this possible. You guys are all my heroes.

In the meantime, I’ll be updating the posted sample chapters of the book from their original versions to their finished edits. Unfortunately, this means some of the lovely comments people have left will be removed in the process. So if you feel like re-reading your favorite chapter and commenting again, have at it!

Also, if you haven’t tired of hearing me blabber on about this book (I really don’t know how that’s possible), you can check out a new interview with me on Christopher Irvin’s author blog! Chris is an experienced writer of crime/noir fiction, and he is now branching out into sci-fi/fantasy with his new Inkshares book WRESTLETOWN! Wrestletown is an illustrated adventure novel and a love letter to professional wrestling and comics. I highly encourage you to check it out!

One more thing: I ALSO encourage you to check out Monkey Business by Landon Crutcher! Now that I’m out of writing mode, I’ve finally been able to fully dive into this one, and it’s great. Landon was the first to be published through Inkshares’s Quill imprint, and he’s provided some great insight into the process for us other authors. And his writing is hilarious. Look, it even has my endorsement on the cover!

All right, gang. That’s enough out of me. I’m off to do very important author things: Getting off the computer and washing the dishes for the wife like I promised. :)
