AC Baldwin sent an update for The Traveller’s Cup

Top o’ the Tuesday, Space Crew!

You know what’s neat about this particular Tuesday? It’s the day before I’m doing a little travelling myself. Yeah, that’s right; I’m slacking on promo for three weeks to go chill in Europe. If any of you are around London/Paris/various German cities, hit me up and we can gush and fan over space books together.

Now, we’ve still got a ways to go on the funding.

This week I want to find podcasters. If you are one, or you know one, and you think it would be an all right place to talk about The Traveller’s Cup, please let me know. I will gleefully and awkwardly spew book nonsense in the direction of anyone who is willing to listen.

Since I’m going to be on the road for a few weeks I’m going to be hard-pressed to update you all on the haps of this book campaign for a bit. That said, I’ll probably still send you a weekly update, but you should judge it less harshly for formatting and typos because I’ll be restricted to mobile. Which also means no doodles. I’m so sorry.

So enjoy this one. I hope it ties you over despite the crushing hole I must be leaving in your heart with my brief internet vacancy.

Your Seductively Sinister Space Captain,

-AC

AC Baldwin liked an update for REB1RTH

Survivors, thanks a lot for the ride.

It has been an honor, a challenge and an opportunity to learn for me this past contest. Unfortunately, I have to cut off the campaign here, with 45 days ahead of us. I do not think I am ready to publish this tale for multiple reasons and I wanted to tell every one of you exactly why.

First off, life gets in the way. I know it will happen. All the time. But for the past months now, I have not been able to make any major progress on the book, let alone the series. And right now, a new chapter of my life is about to start, in 10 days exactly and until I get situated with the changes, I will have to postpone the book as well as a few of my other projects. By the time I can return, the campaign will have most likely run out. So I prefer pull back now and being frank about it rather than let it die out and not being honest with you all.

Next, at the point I am now, I don’t think publishing REB1RTH now would give it justice. The tale in itself is still a bit too young to my liking. Since day 5 of the contest, I started wondering if I should pull out of the contest but I decided to do as much as I could before the end of the contest and act then. But here we are and my thoughts have not changed.

What will happen with the book you ask? The book (and myself) are returning to the benches. I have a lot to learn to make this series the best it can be and I intend to make it through at some point. Here’s how the next few months will go for me, book wise.

    Late July - Mid/Late August
Getting my foot in my new situation. Things will be changing a lot for a while. Until then, I will be putting every creative project on hiatus.

     Mid/Late August - Late September
The Hiatus is lifted. Work starts again on my projects. REB1RTH is continued (hopefully the initial draft is completed before the next step.)

    October
The National Novel Writing Month creeps in and I start gathering my stuff for it. Depending on the situation, I might take a small breather from creative during October or focus on other creative projects for the time being as November will be filled with writing.

    November
NaNoWriMo starts and ends that month. Whether I am starting the draft of the second book of the Stratos Saga or another book (nicknamed Bloodblossom) will depend on the state of REB1RTH and how I feel about the setting of the second tome.

    Start of December - January
Depending on what I started in November, I might be going for an Encore, completing the draft of the book of November or returning to REB1RTH for the first major run-through.

During all these steps, I will try my hardest to come by to you guys once in a while for an update. The page might had reverted to a Draft, but in my heart, it will still be on the doorstep, waiting for the door to open in front of it.

That is all I have for you guys today. Until the next time I update this page, please keep an eye out for the book and I will see you all next update.

AC Baldwin liked an update for Squids In
      Hello!

By my reckoning there is two days left in the Nerdist competition and SQUIDS IN currently requires a minimum of 56 pre-orders to get a top 3 finish. Sadly there are only 55 followers who have yet to commit to ordering, so I don’t think we’re gonna make it. I would love to get back up to 5th place however and that seems very achievable. Another 4 pre-orders will do it :)

GREAT NEWS! The second SQUIDS IN raffle prize winner Brian Guthrie has received his octopus and sent me this photo....

We may not finish top 3 in the contest but Hendrix has now strategically positioned his offspring in the UK, US and Germany. In revenge for not winning, he is going to unleash a deadly virus and there is nothing you can do to stop him. Just be sure to go outside and spray paint a "10 Octopuses" symbol on the wall before you go. It may help to educate a future generation about where it all went wrong:)

Thank you guys for all your support throughout the contest. This will be my last update before the result is announced.

AC Baldwin sent an update for The Traveller’s Cup

        Something something Monday, Space Crew.

I think I’ve got enough caffeine in my blood to send an informative update. If any of this is incoherent, it’s actually largely because I accidentally stayed up late rewriting some parts of the book. Because you guys deserve the very best (like no book ever was...).

        Ahem.

        This Past Saturday

I spent 8ish exhilarating and exhausting hours walking and talking around ComicCon. I pitched this book to roughly a hundred people, made a ton of connections in the sci-fi/writing/crowdfunding communities, and collected a pleasing amount of con-swag. It was a great day of finding a group to call my people.

If you’re one of the people I met, I likely have your card or contact info in my swag bag already, but feel free to get in touch with me first—especially if you want to connect for a podcast or blog feature.

For new contacts and old Crew members alike, you can always reach me at acbaldwinbooks@gmail.com, or on Twitter: @ac_baldwin.

        Upcoming Cons

The summer con circuit is vast and intimidating. I wanted to make it back home to the Atlantic cons, but I unfortunately haven’t had the time.

I am very much considering (hovering over the "Buy Tickets" button) going to Fan Expo in Toronto as a regular attendee for more networking. Stay tuned.

I will be attending Ottawa’s Can-Con this September (9th-11th). You should probably come out if you’re in the area, since I’ll be even more prepared, and will be giving out more bookmarks, some sample chapters, and maybe signing things? If that doesn’t sway you, it’s on my birthday, so now you’re obligated out of friendship.

Now, may your coffee mugs be overflowing and your Monday be as bearable as a Thursday.

Oh, and if you haven’t yet, please pre-order this book so it can be fully-funded. And then instead of me pitching it at you we can high-five and be friends.
