What recourse is there if a Syndicate doesn't select a title for the month.

I completely agree with all of you, the syndicate needs to have a new leader or something. Honestly it doesn’t take much to just find a book that looks cool and pick it. I’m sure he is a busy man, but at least log in to pass the leadership along if he can’t pick something. No disrespect to the man, hell I envy his position and I dream of ever taking part in a star wars thing, but there’s a lot of money going to that syndicate that’s not doing anything.

Nothing personal against Gary but the one month since I established "Thiller Night" syndicate, in which I could not tend to the selection - I asked the esteem co founder @Christopher Huang to take charge.

He emailed me the pick and guess what - it took me 5 seconds to actually select the book.
So not to diminish anything from Mr. Whitta’s insane schedule - I work all day and tend two toddlers at night and it’s still plausible...

Otherwise I really think Inkshares needs to take action.

I noticed that the Nomad Syndicate wasn’t making its monthly picks a month or so ago, and emailed Inkshares/Elena about it. I am not a member of the syndicate but I figured someone should bring it up to Inkshares team (in case no one had). They replied back that they would be trying to get in touch with @Gary Whitta about it. I hadn’t put it together at that point that he wrote the screenplay for Rogue One,  among many other things, so I imagine that he is probably very busy. I do not know if the Inkshares team ever got in touch with him.

Yes, I agree with @Rick Heinz  and @Joni Dee . I have waited too long already. I will leave the syndicate and remain in the other two I support. - I do love the idea of syndicates, but the Nomad is not spreading the love as much as I’d like.

That Syndicate still have a lot of active members such as @Ferd Crôtte or Deborah Munro (to the attention of @Craig A. Munro )
I honestly implore you guys to leave or bring this to the attention of @Elena Schtofle  - there should be a new lead to this syndicate or it should be canceled.

Syndicate selections have to be made on or before the 15th of each month. So there isn’t much point waiting.

Gary Whitta is probably busy doing Rogue One at the moment. I’d leave and join another Syndicate honestly.

I hope you get your refund, $40 is a lot of money to me at least. I hope the subscription money everyone is paying for that syndicate isn’t going to waste.

@Shawn Furniss Might I suggest the Rite of Passage Syndicate? ;)

It says that the syndicate covers science fiction and that’s what the first three selections were.

Gary Whitta is the syndicate lead and I can’t see anyway to contact him directly other than Twitter and I’m not on there.

Like I said, I’m not too wound up about this and I figure if there isn’t a selection by the end of October I’ll just cancel my membership and apply it somewhere else.

A possibility: Doesn’t the Nomad Syndicate refrain from giving anyone in particular a boost during contests? Since they support fantasy novels and EVERY fantasy novel was part of the contest over the last two months, maybe that’s why they didn’t pick anyone?

I’m not saying that this is a GOOD solution, but it might be why things are happening as they are. I don’t know. :S

@Shawn Furniss  I hope that gets settled, have you tried contacting the person in charge of your Syndicate? I’ll look into what the terms and services say about this issue. Also, I’ve been trying to get my book up for preorder this month, if you’d like to check it out I’d appreciate it. If you enjoy it let me know!

-UPDATE- There didn’t seem to be any strict rules regarding syndicates. The only real information is that they’re experimental at the moment and seem to rely on a trust between the leads and the members. You should bring it up that the members should either form a new group so you can continue the syndicate with a new lead, or collectively contact your leader to wake up and start ordering books.

It’s been brought up in the syndicate’s comments section before but I don’t know if anyone has E-mailed Inkshares about it.
My question is more a request for the technical information on these things rather than a complaint or request for help.
The way I figure it, if there’s no pick for October, I may just cancel my membership and move over to a more active syndicate.

Has anyone from the syndicate been in touch with Inkshares by email? That seems like the first course of action, to highlight the possibility that there is something up with the syndicate.

I’m part of the Nomad Syndicate and there hasn’t been a title selected for two months, but over that time the syndicate has deduct $20 each month without making a selection. Does that mean there’s now $40 that will be applied to the next selection or is that money just gone? Is there anyway to get a refund in those situations?
